Re: The Meaning of Life

But to Assume that the computer media is better is to be blind to its faults. The internet has NO rules to go by (at least the mainstream is governed by some form of ethics if nothing else) and has been known to be a gossip centre where reputations are ruined at the drop of a word. Believe me it is not all its cracked up to be. Truth is a long way away on the internet. It is not to be trusted.

So true, so true, so true. Just ask some of us recipients of unwarranted attacks on their integrity. There is little to no recourse to the rantings and raving of lunatics.

And Wickapedia - don't get me started. Some unthinking, uncaring, person decides they have an 'opinion' on any given topic and it becomes an 'encyclopedia' remark? Rescue me from know it alls with little to do but attack and pontificate.

Re: The Meaning of Life

Maybe I joined the wrong site. I suppose I was tricked by the name "Global Oneness". All the other answers to this question implied some beleif in a diety. I am certain that there is meaning to life, but I am just as certain that there is no God within our Universe. The meaning of life is that we are all part of this Universe. The Universe has evolved to the point of self awareness and homosapiens are the top of that evolutionary line. We are aware of ourself as a Universe. What a Universe is, and is there anything beyond the Universe, is way beyond our current level of knowledge. At present we can be sure that we are this Universe. The one that started with the big bang 13bya. It is interesting that we only began thinking 200kya. That was a long incubation period. Now that we are thinking and self aware what will become of us? That is our purpose.
Learning what we can about ourself, the Universe is a pretty big task. It would be a lot easier if we stopped fighting ourselves and took better care of ourselves (this planet). As the mind of the Universe we can take control. Loving one another (ourselves) would be a good start. Mankind should outgrow the badness which was required in our evolutionary struggle to develop our brain. We must step beyond evolution and take control of our fate. I am babbeling. I have a tendancy to do that.
It would be nice if anyone thinks these ideas have merit would contact me. I think it is time for a new understanding of life to blossom in our world. I am looking for other people who can imagine themselves as a part of the Universe, who know that everything in the Universe is part of the Universe, and that after 13b years, we as the Universe are now self aware. That is a pretty big ?"WOW"

Re: The Meaning of Life

I don't believe anyone's ideas of our progression and evolution to be out of touch with our reality. I just think there are many paths and evolution comes with some detraction the same as any idea.

To believe in a deity does not dismiss the idea of belonging to the universe as one consciousness. Perhaps evolution being so important to each individual, we are not on the same page always. But the only continuity will come with a global oneness.

Re: The Meaning of Life

Appolgise for disrupting the flow of oneness.
But i really dont think that the universe created its self from nothing and then developed a consciousness and then evolved man - (appex of the universes inteligence) who only just is staring to understand what the universe conscious has designed.

All things begin with consciousness.

Re: The Meaning of Life

then that is god. Consciousness is not enough though - ability is important.

you have consiousness, but does that mean you can control the baking of a cake with your mind.

Mind over matter is real and yes anything is possible.

I am sorry I do not understand this remark:

"then that is god. Consciousness is not enough though - ability is important."

Could you explain?

Re: The Meaning of Life

Peace to all.
I am a monotheist. when some one talks about universe consciousness - to me this is god. when someone mentions that nature evolved the flower, to me this is god. god is real and he is the only universe consciousness and he is the designer of nature. to say universe conscious or mother nature is to bely the word 'god' with another ambiguous word and to escape responsibility and to mitigate the search for truth. to me it is an attempt to satisfy oneself with an alternative spirituality that allows that self to do as please.
To say that a consciousness developed the universe and it then brought into being others deities that should be worshiped is something i cannot and will not understand.

"then that is god. Consciousness is not enough though - ability is important." it is not enogh to be consious of the universe. This did not bring it into existance and did not create the planet earth. having said that once you identify consciousness as god all mighty - may be that was the case. 'be and it was'
