I think hitting "submit" and losing everything you've spent so long typing has happened to everyone at some point. What I usually do when I create a really long post, is highlight all the text and hit ctrl+c to copy it all before I hit the "submit" button. Then, should something happen to go wrong in the process, I don't have to type everything over again, I just have to hit ctrl+v to paste in my text again. It's helped me many times on a really long post.
