The Global Oneness Festival promotes Oneness among people and different spiritual traditions by bringing leaders and representatives from different spiritual paths together in a spirit of acceptance and unification in the coming goal for Oneness.

The Global Oneness Festival takes place regularly at several places in India and from 2005 also in other countries. Please check Global Oneness Festival for more information about the festival.

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Infest festival - History

Infest was born in early 1998 through the efforts of three students of the University of Bradford and the Student's Union Entertainments Manager. The concept of the show was a one day event for local goth bands in West Yorkshire. Even before the first event however, it spiraled into an altogether bigger beast when the Students Union agreed that funds could be found to book some much bigger acts; most notably gothic/death rock band Alien Sex Fiend. The student organisers were already fans of the Whitby Gothic Weekend and took the idea for Inf ...

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Festival of Britain - Legacy

Although the Festival was extremely popular and made a profit it was conceived and executed in haste and with little thought for subsequent use. The Labour Party who had championed the Festival lost power while it was open and Terence Conran has speculated that the haste with which the main site was cleared was an act of political revenge by the incoming Conservative Party government. Profits made from the Festival retained by the Greater London Council were used to convert the Royal Festival Hall and establish The South Bank. Aside from thi ...

Sinulog festival - Pre-Spanish and the First Wave of Spaniards. Historians have noted that before the first Spaniards came to Cebu, the Sinulog was already danced by the natives in honor of their wooden idols called anitos. Then, on April 7, 1521, the Portuguese navigator, Fernando de Magallanes arrived and planted the cross on the shores of Cebu, claiming the territory in the name of the King of Spain. He then presented the image of the child Jesus, the Santo Niño, as baptismal gift to Hara Amihan ...

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Bayreuth Festival - The New Bayreuth

Two thirds of the town of Bayreuth was destroyed by allied bombing in the final days of World War II, though the theatre itself was undamaged. Following the war, Winifred Wagner was sentenced to probation by a war court for her support of the Nazi party. The court also banned her from administration of the Bayreuth Festival and its assets, which fell to her two sons, Wolfgang and Wieland. The festival reopened in 1951 aft ...

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Sinulog festival - The Present

Since 1521, devotion to the Santo Niño has grown and has taken root in Filipino popular piety, particularly in the Visayas; pilgrims from different parts of Cebu and the rest of the Philippines make their yearly journey to the Basilica to take part in the procession and fiesta. Starting in 1980, the Cebu City government organized the Sinulog Mardi Gras and eventually gave incentives to dance groups. It was David S. Odilao, Jr., then Regional Director of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development (MYSD), who organized the fir ...

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Festival of Britain - Buildings

Construction of the South Bank site opened up a new public space, including a riverside walkway, where previously there had been only warehouses. There was, however, opposition to the project from those who believed that the money (£8 million) would have been better spent on housing. In 1948, young architect Hugh Casson, 38, was appointed director of architecture for the Festival and he unashamedly sought to appoint other young architects to design its buildings. He was knighted in ...

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Bayreuth Festival - The Wagner Werkstatt

While Wolfgang Wagner continued to administer the festival, beginning in the 1970s, production was handled by a number of new directors in what Wolfgang called Werkstatt Bayreuth (Bayreuth Workshop). The idea was to turn the festival into an opportunity for directors to experiment with new methods for presenting the operas. The change came out of necessity, as it was impossible for Wolfgang to both administer and direct the festival. It also provided an opportunity for Bayreuth to renew itself with each production, rather than continu ...

The festival continues to be administered by Wolfgang Wagner, who refuses to step down, even though the festival's 21 member board of directors voted in 2001 for his daughter, Eva Wagner-Pasquier, to succeed him. Wagner plans to eventually hand control over to his second wife, Gudrun, and their daughter Katharina. [2] Despite the behind-the-scenes feud for control, the festival draws thousands of Wagner fans to Bayreuth every summer. It is very diffic ...

In 1973, the first festival was held in Scheeßel, the place where today's Hurricane takes place. It was called "Es rockt in der Heide" at that time (literally translated: It's rocking the moor) and was attended by 52,000 people. At the "First Rider Open Air" in 1977, fans caused damage of more than a million marks when riots broke out, because only five of the announced 23 bands could perform—a huge scandal was uncovered few days later. ...

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Sinulog festival - Background

'Sinulog' comes from the Cebuano adverb sulog which is "like water current movement," which adeptly describes the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance. Traditionally, the dance consists of two steps forward and one step backward, done to the sound of the drums. The dance is categorized into Sinulog-base, Free-Interpretation, and recently a Latin Category, which most people have argued that it had nothing to do with Sinulog tradition. Candle vendors at the Basilica continue to perform the traditional version of the dance when lighting a candle for the customer, usually accompanied ...

The Global Oneness Festival: Encyclopedia II - Bayreuth Festival - Bayreuth and the Third Reich

In the 1920s, well before the rise of the Nazi party, Winifred Wagner (who headed the festival after the death of her husband Siegfried in 1930) became a strong supporter and close personal friend of Adolf Hitler. Because of this support, Bayreuth was able to maintain its artistic independence under the Third Reich, when other opera houses were turned into propoganda tools. Ironically, Hitler attended performances that included Jewish and foreign singers, long after they had been banned from all other venues across Germany. Winifred's influe ...

Metallica attempted to step in as headliners, but were unable due to already being headliners at that years Reading and Leeds Festivals. Instead, they played an unannounced "secret slot" in the afternoon on the second stage; this has been attributed to a chance meeting of fan James Dodd with Lars Ulrich in Heathrow airport. See also:
