Naming
something enables us to claim it. We will take on more ownership with something
that we've named, whether it's a house, a car, a dog or a favorite chair. More
importantly, once something becomes personal, we're more apt to have compassion
and patience with any trouble that might come up. We're less apt to cut corners
when doing repairs or cleaning if the space has become personal.

| | | | | | Feng Shui and Love: Qi - Light and ColorQi - Light and Color
In the Taoist philosophy of feng shui,
everything is made of energy or qi. Qi is categorized into the Five Elements
which is also known by their colors: earth is yellow; fire is red; water is
black; wood is green; and metal is white. The names for different colors are a
convention for people to refer to different wavelengths of light. Adhering to
this mode of thought, everything is made of a variation of light energy or
color.

Feng
Shui, Astrology and ChiFeng Shui, Astrology and Chi
The Chinese astrology or birth chart is taken
from the date and time of birth. It is a statistical record of the energies
that existed at a specific time and has an accuracy of about 90%, however, the
effect it has on a person is only about 3.3% because there are many other
factors such as personality, background, education, culture, health and so
forth that also influences a person's life.

Synchronizing
Energies
with Feng ShuiSynchronizing Energies
Feng shui is about "synchronicity."
Being in sync with the natural patterns of energy is like focusing a picture.
Everything becomes clear. You understand who you are, you know what your
purpose in life is, and you realize how to deal with problems. The different
elements of your life comes into place - you are better able to pursue your
goals, meet the right people, and be in the right place at the right time. Feng
shui lets your existence take on a new force.

| | | | | | Feng Shui and Love: Reinterpreting Vaastu In
India we must be grateful that the core beliefs, theoretical rigour and
application of the Vaastu Shastras are still
available, though in a depleted form. From the study of texts, dialogues with
practitioners and field application of the concepts I have been able to
reconstruct the overview of the Vaastu Shilpa Shastras and
give a guideline for present day application. There is a great deal of
resistance and deep feelings of distrust from the trained designers in the
'modern institutesŐ toward the assumptions and symbolism of the traditional
paradigm. It is almost as if they feel threatened that their hegemony would be
displaced. Are their fears valid? Is the basis of the Vaastu Shastras questionable
in its present day application? Is it a meaningless mumbo jumbo in the
'scientificŐ climate of today?

Shui in Times of TroubleFeng Shui in Times of Trouble
Very often in times of trouble and
desperation, we may run to the closest source of solace and expect it to
resolve our problems. However, we must understand that just as most problems or
illnesses do not occur over night, solutions also require time to work its
healing ways. Too often, feng shui is not considered from the beginning to
"prevent the fire," rather used when it is too late to "put out
the fire." In considering feng shui in our planning, we can gain insight
on how to best pave a road to success.

Feng
Shui and its relation to other factorsThree Problems Ten Solutions
The phone rings and I answer it. Before I
could say a word, a woman introduces herself as Vicki and begins firing a
series of questions. Is it bad feng shui that her main door faces a stairway?
What can she do about it? What happens if there is a low ceiling in her living
room? Do exposed beams in the master bedroom affect her feng shui? How can she
correct them?
I tell her that in feng shui analysis, there
are 60 factors involved. This should also be coordinated with each resident's
birth chart and personal energies. Because even if a person has good feng shui
- being in a low period of his/her life path, having a personality that is stubborn
or weak, having bad habits, being malnourished - all these things play a part
in influencing a person's success, relationships and health in life.

| | | | | Feng Shui and Love: True Love Uplifts The Human Spirit
It is now fashionable to ask: Why do we say "falling" in love and not "rising" in love? We "fall" in love because to love implies total surrender. Unless we surrender our ego to the object of our love, we cannot realise the power and expanse of love. There are two basic emotions which drive this world: love and hate. All relationships are affected in some way or other by these, and so they can either help sustain or destroy the universe in which we interact with one another and the environment.

Minor
Adjustments, Major Difference in Feng ShuiMinor Adjustments, Major Difference in Feng
Shui
" I explain that energies do change
annually and there are some adjustments she needs to make every year to make
positive frequencies active. Using the Nine Star Chart that indicates annual
planetary cycles and their effect on her home's energy, I recommend that she
move her bed so that she faces west. She should also convert her dining area in
the southwest into a work area. Put yellow sunflowers here or cover the table
with a white or yellow cloth to stimulate the earth frequencies here for prosperity.
At the entry area, she should try to let in more western light by opening the
door or windows and put yellow flowers at the door."

| | | | Feng Shui and Love: The Fine Art of Staying in Love
A happy relationship is a universal ideal. Yet, few among us can claim to have perfect relationships. Worldwide, divorce rates are going up. Even most couples who do stay together for a considerable length of time allow their relationship to turn mechanical - there is little room for romance, intimacy or joy. Such couples end up transforming a beautiful partnership into a mere social institution, no more than a familial commitment empty of true love.

| | | | Feng Shui and Love: Limitless Love Is Free Of Bondage
Detachment is not renunciation. It is a re-orientation of attitudes and lifestyles. It is a creative endeavour that involves a shift in consciousness. Free-flowing consciousness helps us reach a state of creative calm. According to Sri Aurobindo , when one withdraws from the turmoil of outer life, the evolving consciousness becomes centred and observant like a detached witness or sakshi . The witness state, sakshi bhav , is a continual disassociation from worldly desires and sense-identification. It is a state of neutrality that goes beyond body and mind to communicate with the spirit.
