The game puts the player in control of Sir Daniel Fortesque: the brave knight who was the first to die during the battle against the evil wizard Zarok; he got hit in the eye by an arrow in the first charge. Now Zarok has returned, but the waves of necromantic energy he has unleashed upon the countryside have unwittingly revitalized the skeletal corpse of Sir Fortesque, still missing the eye where he was hit. Evil Eye: Spiritual Theosophical Dictionary on Charyaka

Charyaka (Sanskrit) There were two famous beings of this name. One a Rakshasa (demon) who disguised himself as a Brahman and entered Hastina-pura; whereupon the Brahmans discovered the imposture and reduced Charyaka to ashes with the fire of their eyes, - i.e., magnetically by means of what is called in Occultism the "black glance" or evil eye.

The second was a terrible materialist and denier of all but matter, who if he could come back to life, would put to shame all the "Free thinkers" and "Agnostics" of the day. He lived before the Ramayanic period, but his teachings and school have survived to this day, and he has even now followers, who are mostly to be found in Bengal.

Ada is a stunning Asian woman with neck-length black hair, beautiful eyes, and a very sleek figure. Ada fits the archetype of the stylish and beautiful assassin or "femme fatale". Her signature color is red. Two out of her three outfits are predominantly red, and in Resident Evil 4's Mercenaries minigame, Ada receives a high amount of incendiary grenades. Evil Eye: Encyclopedia II - Corna - Heavy metal

In heavy metal music, although it is unclear when and where it was first used, the sign was popularized by Ronnie James Dio, whose Italian grandmother used it to ward off the evil eye (malocchio). Gene Simmons also claimed to have "invented" the sign, when he was shown extending his little finger on the cover of KISS' 1977 album "Love Gun", although this gesture is often overlooked due to its obscure placement on the cover (off to the right side, in the middle, near bottom area), and it is not clear in close-ups that Simmons is actually making the ...

Evil Eye: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Fascination

Fascination Bewitching, exercising a charm or spell over another person or an animal, consciously or unconsciously, either for good or ill, but more often the word has an evil implication.

True fascination is never used by any of the right-hand path, for their working is invariably by arousing the innate spiritual, intellectual, and psychic powers inherent in others, and training the individual to take command of these powers.

Fascination is exercised by snakes on birds, and by the human eye on beasts. It is used as an evil power by sorcerers, and is exercised more or less consciously by ordinary people upon each other. It is even taught today as an art for swaying the minds of customers, or more obviously by advertisements offering to confer occult powers for a fee.

Evil Eye: Encyclopedia II - Final Fantasy bestiary A-E - Ahriman

The Ahriman traditionally appears as a floating creature with a predominant single eye. The appearance of the monster leads to alternative names such as Evil Eye or FloatEye. The word Ahriman is an alternative form of Angra Mainyu, which does in fact appear in Final Fantasy X-2 as a superboss in it's demonic form, the personified principle of darkness. Angra Mainyu was the evil spirit in the dualistic strain of Zoroastrianism. Angra Mainyu is the adversary of Ahura Mazda, the god of go ...

Evil Eye: Spiritual Theosophical Dictionary on Bubasté

Bubasté (Egypt, Egyptian) A city in Egypt which was sacred to the cats, and where was their principal shrine. Many hundreds of thousands of cats were embalmed and buried in the grottoes of Beni-Hassan-el Amar. The cat being a symbol of the moon was sacred to Isis, her goddess. It sees in the dark and its eyes have a phosphorescent lustre which frightens the night-birds of evil omen. Evil Eye: Encyclopedia II - Kekkei genkai Naruto - Byakugan White Eye

The Byakugan (Viz "Evil Eye", literally "White Eye") is a special pupil condition (Dōjutsu 瞳術, "pupil technique") that naturally occurs in members of the Hyūga clan (and thus only characters from the Hyūga house - Hinata, Neji, Hiashi, Hizashi, and Hanabi - possess it). Although it seems that the abilities of the Byakugan are inferior to those of the Sharingan (believed to be its genetic relative) because it cannot copy techniques that it sees, or hypnotize human targets, in terms of insight the former surpasses ...

Ecliptor is Astronema's second in command. He is a powerful general, capable of holding his own against even the Red Ranger, Andros. He wields a sword (which can fire electric blasts), fires beams from his eyes, and can even make duplicates of himself. Ecliptor was built, not born, as a creature of evil. He was charged with raising the captured Karone into a life of evil, so that she would become Astronema, Dark Specter's most devoted acolyte. Evil Eye: Hindu - Hinduism Dictionary on Bindu

bindu: (Sanskrit) "A drop, small particle, dot."

1)    The seed or source of creation. In the 36 tattvas, the nucleus or first particle of transcendent light, technically called Parabindu, corresponding to the Shakti tattva. Scientists say the whole universe just before the big bang could fit on the head of a pin- a tremendous point of energy- that is Parabindu.

2)    Small dot worn on the forehead between the eyebrows, or in the middle of the forehead, made of red powder (kunkuma), sandalpaste, clay, cosmetics or other substance. It is a sign that one is a Hindu. Mystically, it represents the "third eye," or the "mind's eye," which sees things that the physical eyes cannot see. The forehead dot is a reminder to use and cultivate one's spiritual vision, to perceive and understand life's inner workings, as well as to look into the past to see the future. The bindu is also a beauty mark worn by Hindu women, the color red generally a sign of marriage, black often worn before marriage to ward off the evil eye, kudrishti or papadrishti.

3)    The bindu is known as pottu in Tamil.

4)    Bindu is also a term for semen.

See: tattva, tilaka.

Evil Eye: Pagan Paganism Dictionary II on Anthropologic Witchcraft

Anthropologic Witchcraft:

Anything called “witchcraft” by an anthropologist, usually referring to (a) the practices of independent (real or supposed) magic users who are suspected of at least sometimes using their magic outside of their society’s accepted cultural norms, and/or (b) a perceived state, often involuntary, of being a monster who can curse people with the “evil eye.” Definition (a) is what the word “wicce” probably originally referred to, annoying as that may be to modern Wiccans.

Evil Eye: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Sebek

Sebek (Egyptian) Also Sebeq and Sebeq-Ra. The planet Mercury in the Greco-Roman period in Egypt; also the crocodile-headed deity about whom very little has come down to us. Because of his association with the crocodile and Set, his attributes were popularly considered as evil; in The Book of the Dead, however, Sebek is named together with three other deities as dwelling on the mount of sunrise, helping Horus to be reborn daily. He is represented as giving the eyes to the deceased and assisting the pilgrim to be reborn.

Evil Eye: Encyclopedia II - Sadhu - The sadhu life

The ruggedness of the sadhu life deters many from following the sadhu path. Such practices as the obligatory early morning bath in the cold mountains require a detachment from common luxuries. After the bath, sadhus gather around the dhuni, or holy fireplace, and begin with their prayers and meditation for the day. Some sadhus practice black magic or herbalism and dispense cures to the local community, remove evil eyes or bless a marriage. They are a walking reminder to the average Hindu of Divinity.
