Eternal: Encyclopedia II - Kid Eternity - Kid Eternity at Quality Comics

Hit Comics, prior to issue #25, had a series of rotating cover features, including Hercules, the Red Bee, Stormy Foster and Neon the Unknown. However December 1942 saw the entire line-up of comics at Quality change their features (if not always the cover feature). Kid Eternity was brought in from the start as the new cover feature for Hit. The character proved to be popular enough that when Quality Comics began expanding their post-war line, the Kid got his own self-titled comic book, Kid Eternity, in the Spring o ...

Seven Eternities Seven kosmic aeons or vastly long periods of duration, becoming time to human thought; and each such kosmic aeon is an eternity [from Latin aeternitas from aetas age, time period, a space of time]

which the Latins looked upon as a generalizing term for an aeon (cosmic age). "The Seven Eternities meant are the seven periods, or a period answering in duration to the seven periods, of a Manvantara, and extending throughout a Maha-Kalpa or the 'Great Age' -- 100 years of Brahma -- making a total of 311,040,000,000,000 of years" (SD 1:36). The expression applies both to the mahakalpa and to the solar pralaya.

Eternal: Encyclopedia II - Eternal Champions - Game Information

In 1993, the latest trend in the video game world was the fighting game, bolstered by the recent successes of Street Fighter II (1991), Fatal Fury (1991,) and Mortal Kombat (1992), all series that continue strong in arcades to this day. Hoping to ride this wave of success, Sega developed the Eternal Champions series for their Genesis and Sega-CD systems. While the series never caught on, due to its limited availablity, among other things, it did employ various features that were well ahead of their time, including stage fatalities or "overki ...

Eternal: Encyclopedia II - Eternal return - Friedrich Nietzsche

The idea of eternal recurrence is central to the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche first encountered the idea in the works of Heinrich Heine, who speculated that there would one day be a person born with the same thought processes as himself, and that the same was true of every other person on the planet. Nietzsche expanded on this thought to form his theory, which he put forth in The Gay Scien ...

Eternal: Encyclopedia II - Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Biography

The band was officially formed in 1994 by Jarmo Puolakanaho, Altti Veteläinen and Olli-Pekka Törrö, after some previous various metal projects (Andromeda, MDC, DWN) between 1991 and 1994, involving some or all of these three members. Andromeda had been put on hold in late 1992 because the rehearsal place had burned down. It took some while for the members to understand the town wouldn't give them a new rehearsal place for a while, so they (Altti, Jarmo and Olli) decided to start up a new project, MDC, and recorded a demo tape in au ...

Eternal: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Land of the Eternal Sun

Land of the Eternal Sun From immemorial time mystics and occult philosophers have consistently taught of the existence of a land where the sunshine is perpetual, the abode of the gods whose particular function it is to oversee the destinies, not only of mankind, but of other hierarchical groups occupying the earth. Any attempt to fix a geographical locality as this land of the eternal sun has never been successful, for it is no geographical locality, but a region mystically said to be at the top of Mount Meru or the north pole of the earth.

There is a legend known in Tibet which places the mystical Sambhala not only on earth, but likewise upon Mount Meru, and again in the sun -- implying a hierarchy of divine or spiritual beings existing in a threefold order, each order having its own stage or place in this scheme.

Eternal: Encyclopedia II - Eternal Champions - Game-Specific Conventions

The games followed a typical 8-way directional pad/stick with 6-button layout common to most fighting games at the time. There were 3 punches and 3 kicks that vary based upon speed and power. The weakest punches and kicks are fast but do minimal damage, medium attacks are a good mix of recovery speed and damage, and strong attacks are the most powerful but recover the slowest. The joystick or d-pad are used to move each character in the direction pressed, jump, crouch, and will block attacks by pressing away from high attacks or down and awa ...

Eternal: Encyclopedia II - Arguments for eternity - From the nature of the physical world

Arguments for eternity - Indirect proofs. Indirect proofs the eternity from the nature of the universe operate by attempting to reduce the alternative, creation, to absurdity. The argument from the nature of matter, made by Aristotle in Physics I, 7, proceeds as follows: Everything that comes into existence does so from a substratum. If the underlying matter of the universe came into existence, it would come into existence from a substratum. But the nature of matter is precisely to be ...

Eternal: Sanity's Requiem: Encyclopedia II - Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - Creatures & enemies

Eternal Darkness boasts a variety of enemy creatures, each of which belongs to one of the three alignments (the only exception being the generic Mantorok Zombie). It should be noted that Chattur'gha creatures can generally deal and sustain more damage than the others. By comparison, Xel'lotath creatures are weaker but tend to take away large amounts of sanity, while Ulyaoth creatures may use and/or drain (more) magick. Maximillian Roivas can perform ...

Spells are created using one alignment rune, one verb rune, one noun rune, and Pargon runes to fill out the Circle of Power. In order to create spells of a certain level (3, 5, or 7), the appropriate Circle of Power must first be obtained from Oublie Cathedral (in Anthony's, Paul Luther's, and Peter Jacob's chapters, respectively). In order to create a specific spell, all runes used in that spell must have been obtained (it is not necessary to obtain the codices or the spell scroll).
