 | | | Eternal: Para Vidya, Path To Eternal Bliss
Para vidya alone can show us the path to eternal bliss. Mundane knowledge, which produces 'intellectualism"cannot confer wisdom on us. Even the most amazing of scientific and technological advances have failed to bring lasting happiness in our lives. The exponential increase in knowledge has, surprisingly, led to more conflicts and destruction. Para vidya is transcendental knowledge, which leads to wisdom. Apara vidya or secular knowledge merely enhances our vision of the outer world. Wisdom is perennial while knowledge is mainly informative and therefore transient. The former is stable, the latter, subject to change.

 | | | Eternal: Eternal Game of Hide-and-Seek
I've nursed a deep desire since childhood to see truth, face-to-face. I knew that truth would remain elusive unless I learnt to recognise the true nature of my own self and the world around me. But bookish knowledge did not take me any closer to this goal. Knowledge derived with the help of the senses is not entirely dependable, for our senses can deceive us. Restless, I read the biographies of Jesus Christ, the Buddha, Ramakrishna, Mirabai, Mahatma Gandhi and others. Inspired, I tried to acquire qualities that could elevate me to a higher position. But it was not easy; I was young and passions and desires had me in their grip.

 | | | Eternal: The Solution For Eternal Peace
The computer era has popularised the term "solution". All metros now display advertisements and posters that offer a variety of solutions. The names are equally enterprising: "Ideal Solutions", "Smart Solutions", "Party Solutions", "Curtain Solutions", "Critical Solutions"... the list is long. When the question is of one's well being, a superficial solution will not work. Non-apprehension of Reality is the cause for all misapprehensions. A deluded mind creates misunderstandings. One who broods over the past mars the present which is what shapes the future.

 | | | Eternal: Two Kinds of Values: Eternal & Transitory
Recently, 65-year-old Kuttu Bai of Madhya Pradesh immolated herself on her husband’s pyre, sending shock waves across the country. There were a few, however, who remained unmoved. Was sati really a part of Hindu religion, as is claimed by some? Parvati, Shiva’s consort, is often referred to as ' Sati ’. Once, she went uninvited to attend a yagna her father was conducting. On hearing him speak derogatorily of Shiva, an upset and angry Parvati jumped into the fire. In another story, ' Sati ’ Savitri, a princess whose husband died barely a year after they got married, confronted Yamraj, the God of Death. Because of sheer persistence, Savitri managed to extract from him a boon of longevity for her husband. In return, she offered to follow Yamraj to his abode. However, there is no scriptural evidence of any woman committing sati on her dead husband’s pyre.

 | | | Eternal:
A
Christian Theological Dictionary on Eternal life
A
Christian theological definition of Eternal life according to CARM - The Christian
Apologetics & Research Ministry:
" Eternal life Life everlasting in the presence of God. "This is eternal life, that they may know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou has sent" (John 17:3). There are two senses in which this is used. First, as Christians we possess eternal life (1 John 5:13), yet we are not in heaven or in the immediate presence of God. Though we are still in mortal bodies and we still sin, by faith we are saved (Rom. 4:5; Eph. 2:8-9) and possess eternal life as a free gift from God (Rom. 6:23). Second, eternal life will reach its final state at the resurrection of the believers when Christ returns to earth to claim His church. It is then that eternal life will begin in its complete manifestation. We will no longer sin. "

 | | | Eternal: Eleventh and Eternal Guru Granth Sahib
A striking feature of the Adi Granth - popularly called the Guru Granth Sahib - is its distinctly lilting literary flavour, eloquently described as the "musicalisation of thought". Even as one pays homage to Guru Granth Sahib, on the 400th anniversary of its being established as the Holy Book and as the eternal Guru of the Sikh faith, one is struck by the rich literary underpinnings of this compilation and the systematic manner in which each part has been set to music.

 | | | Eternal: Bhagavata Purana's Eternal Krishna
The Bhagavata Purana and other works tell us stories of how the divine is always trying to break away from its divine fetters. When you are pervasive and omnipresent, how can you have the freedom to play? Being omnipresent, you are constantly watched by those who adore you, worship you and serve you. You need a disguise.

 | | | Eternal: The Seven Eternal Values
In the Indian tradition there are seven immortals: Aswathama, Bali, Vyas, Hanuman, Vibhishana, Kripacharya and Parashuram. They symbolise certain higher ideals. These seven immortals exemplify certain basic truths, laws and standards of ethical behaviour which transcend time, locale and generation. They are universal and immutable. Their immortality is therefore not mere deathlessness - it is more the immortalising of each divine principle they stood for and upheld even in the face of adversity and pressure.

Eternal DilemmaGrihastha vs Sanyas - The Eternal
Dilemma
Once, a king asked his guru: Who is
superior, a sanyasi or a householder? In response, the
guru took him to a kingdom where the king had announced that his daughter's
husband would be given half the kingdom. The princess chose a sanyasi
, who refused to marry her. Even after the king offered his entire kingdom,
the sanyasi walked away. The guru and his king-disciple followed the
princess, whom they found crying in the forest where the sanyasi
had disappeared. Hungry and lost, the three lit a fire for warmth.

 | | | Eternal: Surya, The Eternal
HealerThe Hindu scriptures present the Sun as the
most potent god. There are only five Puranic gods and the Sun is one of them
but the images of the remaining four gods Ń Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesh and Durga Ń
are also found in Him. In Surya Sahastranam several synonyms of the Sun are
actually Vishnus names and at one place He is also called Jyotirlinga,
representing Shiva. Mahakal is both the name of Shiva and the Sun.

 | | | Eternal: The Law Of KarmaKarma means not
only action, but also the result of an action. The consequence of an action is
really not a separate thing. It is a part of the action, and cannot be divided
from it. Breathing, thinking, talking, seeing, hearing, eating, etc., are
Karmas. Thinking is mental Karma. Karma is the sum total of our acts both in
the present life and in the preceding births.
Any deed, any
thought that causes an effect, is called a Karma. The Law of Karma means the
law of causation. Wherever there is a cause, there an effect must be produced.
A seed is a cause for the tree which is the effect. The tree produces seeds and
becomes the cause for the seeds.

All About Hinduism by Sri Swami Sivananda

Increasing the practice of Kriya, doing all
works without expectations for the results thereof, the path aims at achieving
Tranquility, observing everything which is revealed in Yonimudra (Beatific

 | | | Eternal: Big Bang Theory In Ancient India
Long before modern science came up with the idea of the Big Bang, India’s Sphota Vada said just what the Big Bang model says - that creation was born of one initial explosion. Swami Vivekananda sums up the Indian Sphota Vada thus : “ Brahman first manifested itself as Sound, and then as Form. Sensible universe is the Form behind which stands the eternal inexpressible Sphota , the essential eternal material of all ideas or names. Sphota , the manifester as Logos or Word, is the power through which the Lord creates the universe. The Lord first becomes conditioned as the Sphota and then evolves himself as the more concrete sensible universe. In other words, Sphota is the fore- father of all ideas, it is their common basis and even the essence. If all the peculiarities which distinguish one word from another is removed, then what remains would be the Sphota.’’
