 | | | Enlightenment Time: Encyclopedia II - Religious pluralism - Pluralism as the belief that more than one religion can teach truths
Religious pluralists hold that no religion can claim to teach the only or absolute truth, arguing that religion is not literally the word of God, but rather is mankind's attempt to describe the word of God. Given man's finite and fallible nature, no religious text can absolutely describe God, or God's will, in absolute precision.
As nearly all religious texts are a combination of historical documents, essays, and morality plays, distinctions must be ma ...

 | | | Enlightenment Time: Encyclopedia II - Religious pluralism - Pluralism as interfaith dialogueReligious pluralism is sometimes used as a synonym for interfaith dialogue. Interfaith dialogue refers to dialogue between members of different religions for the goal of reducing conflicts between their religions and to achieve agreed upon mutually desirable goals.
Inter-religious dialogue is difficult if the partners adopts a position of particularism, i.e. if they only care about the concerns of their own group, and is favoured by the opposite attitude of universalism, where care is taken also for the concerns of others. Interfaith ...

 | | | Enlightenment Time: Kshana - Time stands still when mind stops Hindu mythology of creation talks about how the universe is created each time the Creator Brahma blinks! Millions of human years, called yuga, pass by between each blink of the Creator. Sages of ancient India measured time through the concept of kshana. Kshana is not chronological time. It was not measured as the amplitude of a pendulum or the frequency of an electronic chip. Kshana was not generic time, but individual time. Kshana is the time between two thoughts. My kshana and your kshana are different. | | | Enlightenment Time: Getting Inspired By Spiritual Masters In Buddhism, the striving is to awaken insight within oneself, through one's own efforts. A guru is then someone who embodies a possibility, our own potential. He offers the inspiration one can realistically aspire to and in time lifts the veils of ignorance over one's true enlightened nature. The guru teaches and demonstrates the path. The onus remains on us to make the effort, with the guru's help, to acquire the skilful means to make the journey.
