Ectoplasm: Ghost Photography

Ghosts seem to manifest in a few interesting ways on film. The most common seems to be as orbs that are not visible to the naked eye, yet nevertheless show up on film as transparent orbs hanging in mid air. There are quite a few theories as to why and how ghosts manage to show up on film when our naked eyes fail to perceive them. Our brains filter most of what we see; it's likely that we simply filter out that which does not make "sense" to our minds.

Ectoplasm: The Major Chakras

Chakras are nonphysical organs that transform raw Kundalini energy into more subtle and usable forms of energy. The chakras do not themselves contain energy. Raw energy is drawn up from the planet by the minor chakras in the legs and feet and fed into the main chakra system. Kundalini energy is, in essence, pure thought energy that permeates and binds the universe together. This living energy field can be tapped more deeply by the application of focused, creative will. It can be drawn into the human body and transformed by the chakra system into a more subtle and usable form of energy.

Ectoplasm: Encyclopedia - Amoeboid

Amoeboids are cells that move or feed by means of temporary projections, called pseudopods (false feet). They have appeared in a number of different groups. Some cells in multicellular animals may be amoeboid, for instance our white blood cells, which consume pathogens. Many protists exist as individual amoeboid cells, or take such a form at some point in their life-cycle. The most famous such organism is Amoeba proteus; the name amoebae is variously used to describe its close relatives, other organi ...

Ectoplasm: Encyclopedia - Ghost

A ghost is an alleged non-corporeal manifestation of a dead person (or, rarely, an animal). It is often thought to be the spirit or soul of a person who has remained on Earth after death. According to some beliefs, a ghost may be the personality of a person after his or her death, and not tied directly to the soul or spirit. Every culture in the world carries stories about ghosts, but they vary across time and place, with disagreements both as to what ghosts are and whether they are just f ...

Ectoplasm: Mysticism Magick Dictionary on ECTOPLASM

ECTOPLASM

The stuff, midway between matter and spirit, issued by mediums (from their mouths) to make apparitions visible to non-psychics. Such materializations, however short-lived, consume enormous amounts of energy and leave the medium prostrate and febrile. When ectoplasm is touched or subjected to light, the medium may experience considerable pain. Ectoplasm itself is a viscous, gluey substance of a decidedly unpleasant texture. It quickly dries up and disappears.

Ectoplasm: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Ectoplasm

Ectoplasm (from Greek ektos without + plasma a thing formed)

Used by observers interested in psychic research and kindred subjects to denote the filmy matter which appears at times to exude from the body of a medium. Inasmuch as purported photographs have been shown representing this matter in close proximity to the body of a medium, and even as clearly issuing from it, it is quite evident that physical or quasi-physical matter must be associated with this ectoplasm.

When this ectoplasm is genuine (for it may of course be simulated for a photograph), it occurs because the constitution of the medium is loosely knit together and thus an exudation becomes possible from the medium's linga-sarira or model-body upon which the physical body is built.

In cases of genuine ectoplasmic projection, because of the peculiar, exceptional magnetic and vital condition surrounding a medium's body, atoms are also drawn to the medium by electromagnetic attraction, such as molecules of air or dust particles of physical and pranic substance with which the air is laden. These tiny particles of often invisible physical substance fuse with the exuding material from the linga-sarira of the medium, giving it substance and even the appearance of physical matter.

Thus when the ectoplasm is touched, it feels warm and vital; occasionally even a throbbing sensation may be felt due to the pulse-beat coming from the heart of the medium.
