Vandana Shiva (born November 5, 1952) is a physicist, philosopher, ecofeminist, environmental activist and writer. Vandana was born in Dehra Dun, Uttaranchal State, which was formerly a part of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. She participated in the Chipko movement during the 1970s.
