dredg: Encyclopedia - 2002 in music

2002 was marked by significant trends in Rock Music. Two music genres were focused on in this year both gained major popularity. The continued trend of pop music leaning to R&B and hiphop, and Rock gradualy changing its face from the underground. Rock which had for the past years been dominated by corporate nu-metal bands such as Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, and pop-punk acts such as Blink-182, and Green Day, began sharing the scene with other genres such as emo which saw increase in interest in record sales which would pick up in the comin ...

dredg: Encyclopedia II - El Cielo - About the album

Like dredg's first album, Leitmotif, El Cielo is a concept album. The booklet with El Cielo contains letters written by sufferers of sleeping disorders. All of the songs on the album (except the instrumentals, obviously) contain snippets of the text in the booklet. One of the main influences on the band for El Cielo was a painting by Salvador Dali entitled "Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate One Second Before Awakening," which also happens to be what the acronym in "Brushstroke: dcbtfo ...

dredg: Encyclopedia II - Leitmotif album - About the album

Leitmotif is a concept album—the songs revolve around a small story written by bassist Drew Roulette included in the album booklet. It should be noted that the lyrics to the songs are not identical to the words in the booklet, although some passages are quoted word for word. The story of Leitmotif is about a man with a "spiritual disease" who must seek out different cultures of the world to find a cure for his affliction. It is interesting to note that something very rare happened with this album: Universal re-released ...

There are either 17 or 18 known species worldwide, depending on whether the two Eudyptula species are counted as distinct. Although all penguin species are native to the southern hemisphere, they are not, contrary to popular belief, found only in cold climates, such as Antarctica. In fact, only a few species of penguin actually live so far south. Three species live in the tropics; one lives as far north as the Galápagos Islands and wi ...

dredg: Encyclopedia II - Conscious EP - About the album

"Conscious" was a demo tape by dredg from about 1996 which surfaced online sometime around 2003, originally as four mp3s without titles. A few months after the leak the bass player gave the titles in an interview. The tape is more representative of their earlier more "rapcore" influenced sound. "Conscious EP" is a bit of a misnomer in that it is not a proper EP, and has no name. It was an untitled demo tape, which gained a name once it was leaked onto the internet. Conscious was the first track identified on the tape, so the tape became known as the "Conscious EP", as it had enough songs to count as an EP and "Conscious dem ...

Some penguins mate for life, while others for just one season. They generally raise a small brood, and the parents cooperate in caring for the clutch and for the young. Penguin - Male bonding behaviour. In early February 2004 the New York Times reported a male pair of chinstrap penguins in the Central Park Zoo in New York City were partnered and even successfully hatched a female chick from an egg. dredg: Encyclopedia II - Penguin - Anatomy

Penguins are superbly adapted to an aquatic life. Their wings have become flippers, useless for flight in the air. In the water, however, penguins are astonishingly agile. Within the smooth plumage a layer of air is preserved, ensuring buoyancy. The air layer also helps insulate the bird in the icy waters of the Antarctic. The plumage of penguins in tropical and temperate zones is much thinner. On land, penguins use their tails and wings to maintai ...
