Religious symbols may appear in your dreams even though you may not consider yourself as being religious. There are two reasons for this: first, even non-religious people have usually had some exposure to religious teaching, and secondly, religion would seem to have an instinctive basis, originating in what we now have to call (because we have lost touch with it) the unconscious part of the psyche.

Wind may symbolize turbulent emotions, conscious or unconscious.

If the wind is moving dust or debris it may symbolize a possibility of, or a need for change in your lifestyle or self-image.

In religious symbolism wind represents {Holy} Spirit, which in psychological terms may be understood as an energy that can lift you from depression to joy or from mundane and material interests to a "higher" {or "deeper"!}level of consciousness.

May represent your personal beliefs. Also may suggest too much attention is placed in the masculine aspect.

spiritual aspect of the self. Perfection. Are you asking too much of yourself? A healing part of your human psyche. Christ heals the injured and oppressed. This is referring to the "Christ" within, the psychological self that can heal the body through positive thinking.

Seeing the Virgin Mary in your dream may mean spiritual harmony and/or ideal motherhood. Alternatively, the Virgin Mary represents a repressed fear of sexuality or difficulties in relationships.

A symbol of your spiritual Self. Symbolizes wisdom, insight, compassion, discipline and inner spirituality.

May symbolize the self, the totally integrated psyche {which most everyone has failed to achieve} .Your unconscious may be urging you to "center" yourself, to pull yourself together instead of oing in opposite directions.

May symbolize the most sacred or valuable aspect of yourself.

May represent your feelings about religion or about some institutionalized form of religion.

The Buddha figure symbolizes much the same as does the figure of Jesus. Historically, their lives parallel each other.. Therefore, the symbol of Jesus in a dream often has the same meaning as that of the Buddha.

A Buddha figure will probably signify either your true self or the wisdom that lies in the unconscious and beyond reach until you resolve to get better acquainted with your psyche, or the healing required for your conflict ridden psyche.

Jesus often represents what in you is really your true self, as opposed to the ego self that you perceive yourself as being.

If the Jesus in your dream is the crucified Christ, it may be a symbol of martyrdom. If you identify with this figure, so that you are the wronged sufferer, ask yourself what purpose is being served by adopting this role> Does it make you happy? Well, pain may give you pleasure if it helps us to feel "different" and superior. (And that is often the other side of a martyrdom complex: an inflated view of self - inflated by fantasy.) But to get happiness by making yourself unhappy is self-contradictory.

Your dream is probably telling you to look at yourself objectively, to get rid of the fantasy that has taken possession of you.

If the Jesus is healing someone - the figures in a dream represent you - the figure probably represents Nature's power of healing that lies within yourself.. The fact that the healing Christ has appeared in your dream is a very good sign. It means that your unconscious is offering you its healing power. Don't refuse it.

If the Jesus figure is pronouncing forgiveness it may mean either you have been suffering from guilt-feelings and you have identified these as symptoms of an inner conflict and are now ready to let go of the guilt and the tensions; or that your unconscious is now offering you the means by which those guilt-feelings and the associated paralyzing anxiety can be laid to rest once and for all.

If the Jesus (Christ) figure is suggesting submission and self-surrender it may be showing you a pattern in your life that you need to change - a negative pattern of submitting to "fate" or "circumstances outside your control".

If the "risen" - resurrected - Jesus appears in your dream it may be taken as an auspicious sign of potential self-renewal: the possibility of rising to a new and fuller selfhood, leaving behind all deep internal conflict, anxiety and discontent.

Expressions of guilt are common in dreams. The cause of the guilt-feelings may be indicated in the dream or a later one.

(1) Normal guilt-feelings are the psyche's way of telling us we are not on the right road to personal happiness.

(2) Neurotic guilt-feelings are irrational. For instance, if the father of a five-year-old boy dies, the boy may feel responsible for his death; and the feelings of guilt and a desire to punish himself may linger on into adulthood, not at the conscious level but in the unconscious.

(3) Guilt-feelings may arise out of conflict between inner impulses and conventional - social or religious - morality. Here we have two kinds of duty: duty to society and duty to ourselves, which is a duty to fulfil our "destiny" - that is, the potential that is contained in the basic structure of our individual psyche.
