Dream Interpretation Forest: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on Gerald B Gardner

Gerald B Gardner

(1884-1964) An amateur English anthropologist and folklorist whom many consider the person most responsible for the revival of witchcraft as a Neo-Pagan religion.

After his retirement in 1936, Gardner moved to the New Forest area of England, where he became involved in an occult society, The Fellowship of Crotona. There, he said, he met a more secret group that claimed to be hereditary witches and after the last witchcraft acts were repealed in Britain in 1951, Gardner founded his own coven.

Gardnerian Wicca, one of the most important traditions of Neo-Pagan Witchcraft, which many modern Wicca groups have unknowingly assimilated, includes the Goddess as the preeminent deity, the circle as a place to contain magical energy, ritual work done in small intimate groups, and the idea that the priestess of the coven becomes the Goddess through a ceremony known as "drawing down the moon. "

Dream Interpretation Forest: The Ideal Way to Get Close to God - Bhakti

Once upon a time, a musk deer went searching for musk. Round and round the forest she went, month after month, quite unaware that the heady fragrance, so desperately sought by her, lay beneath her own belly button. Many times, we humans, too, behave like the musk deer. We search for self-realisation outside, blissfully unaware that it lies within us, all the while untapped.

To experience this bliss, however, the seeker has to put in a different sort of effort with regularity and devotion. One way lies through the world of forms, through the path of bhakti, where the seeker concentrates on any of the manifest forms of the Ultimate.

Dream Interpretation Forest: Message of Control, Charity and Compassion

The Upanishads are records of the thoughts and teachings of ancient Indian sages who lived in forest hermitages. They are among the oldest religious scriptures in the world. All of them are preoccupied with the quest for knowledge of the Self.

Isa Upanishad is a compact and highly poetic scripture. It contains all the quintessential teachings of all the Upanishads. When asked to condense his life's message in three words, Gandhiji said: "Renounce and enjoy". This is the dictum in the very first stanza of Isa Upanishad: "All this - whatever moves on earth - should be enveloped by the Lord. Fortify yourself through this renunciation. Do not covet anybody's wealth; to whom does wealth belong?

Dream Interpretation Forest: Indian Hindu Dictionary on Vedas

Vedas: the four principal books of sacred knowledge: Rg, Yajur, Sama and Atharva. Each Veda is divined into four sections to guide the four ashramas (stages) of life.

The first, or Samhita, section contains the many mantras, which are hymns, prayers and formulas to be used in the various rituals during the grahastha ashrama.

The second, or Brahmana, section is commentary on the meaning of the mantras with directions for their use in various rituals to produce results in worldly endeavors.

The third section consists of treatises for contemplation and study including the symbolic meanings of the elements of the rituals. These mental exercises are meant to be used by those of the vanaprastha ashrama. This section is therefore named the Aranyaka or forest treatises.

The fourth section contains the philosophical treatises, the Upanishads, intended for the final realization by those in the sannyasa ashrama

Dream Interpretation Forest: Kaliyug Death of A Vishnu-bhakt

The elephant captured in Chhattisgarh was a victim, not just of an over-eager, insensitive agency that was ironically set up for the specific purpose of protecting endangered pachyderms. The poor animal was first forced to leave the forests of neighbouring states frightened by miners and rendered homeless by human-induced forest degradation. And then, when it tried to survive, looking for food, it was chased, caught, and made to die a slow death. Whatever happened to our tradition of respecting all life forms?

Dream Interpretation Forest: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Asrama

Asrama (Sanskrit) (from the verbal root sram to exert oneself spiritually)

A sacred building, a monastery or hermitage for ascetic purposes; likewise one of the four periods of effort or inner development in the religious life of a Brahmin in ancient times.

These asramas were

1)    the student or Brahmacharin;

2)     the householder or grihastha, the period of married existence when the Brahmin played his due role in the affairs of the world;

3)     the period of religious seclusion or vanaprastha, usually passed in a vana (forest), a period of inner spiritual recollection and meditation on philosophical and religious matters; and

4)    the one who has renounced all the distractions of worldly life or bhikshu who has turned his attention wholly to spiritual affairs, although he may have returned to the world of men for purposes of aiding and teaching.

Ass In the cults of Asia Minor a symbol of Set, Typhon, Satan, Jehovah, or Saturn. Jesus rides into Jerusalem "upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass," in accordance with the prophecy in Zechariah (9:9). If the ass is Saturn, and its foal the earth (whose physical globe is governed by the genius of Saturn in connection with the moon), this is an apt symbol of the descent of the Christos into the lower worlds. Plutarch relates that Typhon or Set fled on an ass into Palestine and there founded Hierosolymus and Judaeus (De Iside et Osiride, ch 30).

Dream Interpretation Forest: Krishna's Ras Leela is Not an Orgy

The ras leela - the frenzied and uninhibited dance of the gopi s with Krishna - never becomes an orgy. Why? The obvious answer would be that Krishna is divinity; he is immaculate. But the reasons are more philosophical than theological.

The dance symbolises the soul's unceasing struggle to break clear of the constraints of the body, to make contact with the supra-reality it sees out there. This intensely private struggle is an abstraction, but so compulsively felt by the soul straining within the body as to become an obsession. The indulgence of any obsession is a behind-the-scene, secret activity, for it has undertones of guilt.

Dream Interpretation Forest: Bhakti Yoga Dictionary II on tulasi

Dream Interpretation Forest: Bhakti Yoga Dictionary II on vanaprastha

vanaprastha

A man or woman in the retired order of life, the third stage of spiritual progress in the varnashrama social system. In this order a married man leaves home and travels to the forest and holy places of pilgrimage, either with or without his wife, to prepare himself for full renunciation, sannyasa.
