the fourteenth century when people first used them for card games. The Roman
Catholic Church condemned them as a device for the devil, referring to them as
"The Devil's Picture Book." Today they are still being used, and are
actually seeing a resurgence in popularity. The Tarot is a wonderful tool for
awakening our intuition and putting us in touch with our inner and outer worlds
through meditation, reflection, spiritual growth, problem-solving and

| | | | Dream interpretation Dates: Christian Meditation - Death of the Self
The practice of Christian meditation dates back to the beginning of Christianity; its objective is to daily 'empty the self' to experience the fullness of God. It is consonant with Jesus's invitation to his disciples to take up their cross daily and follow him. It is central to Easter celebrations, 'dying' to rise to a New Life. The way of meditation is the way of silence. Silencing the ceaseless chatter of a mind buzzing with thoughts is not easy. The way to silence is the way of the mantra. Choosing a sacred word and repeating it from the beginning to the end of the period of meditation forms part of the essential teaching of Christian meditation. It is advisable to choose a word of four syllables and pronounce them with equal length. The recommended word in the Christian Tradition is Ma-ra-na-tha. In Aramaic, the language of Jesus's time, it means 'The Lord comes'.

| | | | Dream interpretation Dates: March 21 - Vernal Equinox - Lady
DayMarch 21 - Vernal Equinox - Lady Day
As Spring reaches its midpoint, night and day stand
in perfect balance, with light on the increase. The young Sun God now
celebrates a hierogamy (sacred marriage) with the young Maiden Goddess, who
conceives. In nine months, she will again become the Great Mother. It is a time
of great fertility, new growth, and newborn animals. The next full moon (a time
of increased births) is called the 'Ostara' and is sacred to Eostre, Saxon
lunar goddess of fertility (from whence we get the word 'eostrogen'), whose two
symbols were the egg and the rabbit. The Christian religion adopted these
emblems for 'Easter', celebrated the first Sunday after the first full moon
after the vernal equinox. The theme of the conception of the Goddess was
adapted as the 'Feast of the Annunciation', occuring on the alternative fixed
calendar date of March 25 ('Old Lady Day'), the earlier date of the equinox.
'Lady Day' may also refer to other goddesses (such as Venus and Aphrodite),
many of whom has festivals celebrated at this time. (The name 'Ostara' is
incorrectly assigned to this holiday by some modern traditions of Wicca.)

| | | | | Dream interpretation Dates: Gem Therapy for the Modern AgeGem Therapy
for the Modern Age
The
history of gemstone therapy dates back for thousands of years. It is known that
the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and Judaic cultures utilized gems for both
healing and general enhancement of life, but it was the ancient Vedic culture
of India that gave us the greatest inheritance of this knowledge. The
metaphysical properties and how persons can increase their own well-being on
the physical, emotional, and even spiritual planes through the proper use of
gemstones is a science delineated in the Vedic scriptures to a far greater
degree than the texts of any other ancient culture.

| | | | Dream interpretation Dates: Man and Environment: A Symbiotic Bond
The tradition of sanctifying various trees and plants dates back to the Vedic period. Though wood as a fuel was a basic need and trees in general were treated with care and respect, some trees such as the Peepal, Banyan and Neem, commanded more respect than others. The Tulsi (Basil) plant was grown in every household in the centre of the courtyard and ritually watered. The rituals served an important purpose - they made people aware of the environment and its importance and so indirectly helped preserve and nurture it.

| | | | Dream interpretation Dates: Year of the Monkey
Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year which has been designated the Year of the Monkey, 4701. The date is computed on the basis of the Chinese Lunisolar Calendar which harmonises both the lunar cycle and the solar year by incorporating astronomical observations of the phases of the moon and the apparent path of the sun. The Chinese New Year is celebrated on the second new moon (lunar) after the winter solstice (solar). The winter solstice occurs when the apparent path of the sun reaches its lowest point on the horizon.

ImbolcJanuary 31 - February Eve - Imbolc
Actually, this holiday is most usually celebrated
beginning at sundown on February 1, continuing through the day of February 2.
'Imbolc' means 'in the belly (of the Mother)' because that is where seeds are
beginning to stir. It is Spring. Another name for the holiday is 'Oimelc',
meaning 'milk of ewes', since it is lambing season. It was especially sacred to
the Celtic Fire Goddess, Brigit, patron of smithcraft, healing (midwifery), and
poetry. A Coven's High Priestess may wear a crown of lights (candles) to
symbolize the return of the Goddess to her Maiden aspect, just as the Sun God
has reached puberty. Weather lore associated with this sabbat is retained by
the folk holiday of 'Groundhog's Day'. The Christian religion adopted a number
of these themes, as follows. February 1 became 'St. Brigit's Day', and February
2 became 'Candlemas', the day to make and bless candles for the liturgical
year. The 'Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary' adapts the
Maiden Goddess theme. The alternative date of February 14 ( 'Old Candlemas',
Christianized as 'Valentine's Day') is employed by some Covens.

Hymns of Dirghatamas in the Rig VedaThe Hymns of Dirghatamas in the Rig
Veda
Some scholars have claimed that the
Babylonians invented the zodiac of 360 degrees around 700 BCE, perhaps even
earlier. Many claim that India received the knowledge of the zodiac from
Babylonia or even later from Greece. However, as old as the Rig Veda, the
oldest Vedic text, there are clear references to a chakra or wheel of 360
spokes placed in the sky. The number 360 and its related numbers like 12, 24,
36, 48, 60, 72, 108, 432 and 720 occur commonly in Vedic symbolism. It is in the
hymns of the great Rishi Dirghatamas (RV I.140 - 164) that we have the clearest
such references.

| | | | | Dream interpretation Dates: What is driving the evolution of consciousness described by the Mayan Calendar? - IIHow is the Mayan Long Count to be explained? Why did this ancient people, that were the most mathematically advanced of their day, choose to use a chronology that consisted of thirteen different periods of 144,000 days each, starting on August 11, 3114, BC and ending on December 21, AD 2012? On a more fundamental level three different types of answers have been given to this question, a materialist, a spiritual and what might be called a pseudo-spiritual, answers that are linked to different world views. In the materialist world view the astronomical, physical cycles are seen as primary to the spiritual whereas in the spiritual world view they are seen as secondary. Spiritual Dictionary on Mysticism
Mysticism: The direct personal contact with one's concept of God, the Divine, or the Ground of Being. Natal Chart: Your natal (birth) chart, or horoscope, is drawn from calculations based upon the date, time, and place of your birth. Every element of the horoscope (which, if it’s like most Western horoscopes, will be drawn on a circular wheel) is expressed symbolically. Each symbol in the chart represents a celestial body, sign, house, or aspect.

Three months after the passing of Gautama
Buddha, The First Council was held at Rajagaha by his immediate disciples who had attained Arahantship
(Enlightenment). Maha Kassapa, the most respected and elderly monk, presided at the
Council. Only two sections the Dhamma and the Vinaya were recited
at the First Council. All Arahants unanimously agree that no disciplinary rule laid down
by the Buddha should be changed, and no new ones should be introduced. At this
point, no conflict about what the Buddha taught is known to have occurred, so
the teachings were divided into various parts and each was assigned to an elder
and his pupils to commit to memory. These groups of people often cross-checked
with each other to ensure that no omissions or additions were made.

Harvest HomeSeptember 21 - Autumnal Equinox - Harvest Home
In many mythologies, this is the day the Sun God, the
God of Light, is killed by his rival and dark twin, the God of Darkness - who
was born at Midsummer, reached puberty at Lammas, and lives a mirror-image life
of the Sun God. From this mid-Autumn day forward, darkness will be greater than
light, just as night becomes longer than day. So it is a festival of sacrifice,
including that of the Sun God in his aspect of Spirit of the Fields, John
Barleycorn - for this is the final grain harvest. The Christian religion
adopted it as 'Michaelmas', celebrated on the alternative date September 25,
the old equinox date (Old Harvest Home). (The Welsh word 'Mabon', meaning
'son', is used by some Witches for the name of this holiday, although such
usage is recent and not attested historically.)
