- Fences Fences Fences may be symbols of personal separation in a negative sense or protection in a positive one. These meanings are often derived specifically from whom the fence is separating us from. If you can discern a feeling about what may happen if the fence were traversed (would it be better or worse), that may tell the role the fence is playing in the dream. Fences can also be a source of boundary. This is true if there is a sense that the fence cannot be traversed. What are the boundaries of your life in relation to other characters in your dream? Perhaps you want to change those boundaries and move a relationship in a new direction. If you are alone at your fence, perhaps you need to protect yourself from others more, or are already doing so excessively. - Running Running Dreaming of running competitively should be distinguished from dreams which have you running to or from something. If you are simply running with no goal, it may be an indication that you need to slow down in your every day life. If you are competing, you need to consider your recent rivalries and realistically look at the current challenges. If you are running in a race and win, your unconscious may be expressing confidence that you may or may not feel in the wakened state. Running in your dreams may also symbolize the energy levels, the strength, or the force that you have to get through life. (A similar definition appears on top of the page for Race , since many people continue to ask me for running, I decided to list them separately.) | | | | Dream Dictionary separated: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Children and Dreams - Bugs Bugs : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Children and Dreams - Bugs Bugs Telling your child, "Goodnight! Don't let the bedbugs bite!" may be better advice than you think, since children are prone to dreaming about insects in their bed or a swarm of bugs coming into their room at night. What you need to know: This is a dream that may recur a few times with varying degrees of agitation. It is a common dream for youngsters to experience when they are facing unpredictable situations, such as a separation in the marriage, moving into a new home or a new sibling being brought home. There is no single catalyst or interpretation for the attacking insects; rather, the frightening dream seems to reflect a sense of bewilderment and being overwhelmed. Arguments, unexpected changes and feeling as if she has no control over events may trigger repetitions of the dream. If your child has this dream, do what you can to give her some sense of control, or at least a voice in her own fate. Point out stability where it still exists, and help things to be as smooth and predictable as possible. And do what you can to manage your own anxiety, for she may pick it up and feel unsettled even though you aren't saying much about the situation. - Desert Desert At times a desert in a dream symbolizes the unconscious and represents the dreamer's sense of separation from it. Deserts are generally barren with little vegetation or animal life. The desert in your dreams could be bringing up issues of stagnation and periods of little growth in your life. Also, the desert could represent your loneliness and feelings of isolation. However, if you live close to the desert or love the desert, this may be a positive symbol. For some the desert may be a place where they can commune with nature and feel a sense of peace. - Sex, Sexual Dreams Sex, Sexual Dreams Dreams of sex and looking for sexual meaning in dreams is something of a pastime for dream interpreters. Often, you don't have to look very far. Sexual content, feelings of love, flirtation, attraction and nocturnal rendezvous are often very explicit in dreams. Sexual meaning has long been a first path of inquiry in dream interpretation. This is due, in part, to the significant contributions of Sigmund Freud to the area of dream interpretation. However, interpreting the sexual content of dreams can be difficult. University studies reveal significant differences in how men and women dream about sex. However, when all is said and done, almost everyone is 'doing it' in dreamland. How much? Sex during dreaming is reported as a topic of at least 12 per cent of male dreams and four per cent of female dreams. This discrepancy is generally consistent with our waking sex drives, with men doing much more thinking about the topic than women. (It is said that men think about sex far more than 12 per cent of their waking lives, though.) In his book Finding the Meaning in Dreams, G. William Dumhoff reveals some interesting data about the manifestation of sex in dreams: Men Participating 93% Watching 7% Women Participating 68% Watching 32% This table indicates that women often separate themselves from what is going on in the dream sexually, whereas men see themselves as participants. This can be significant to understanding why it is more common for men - particularly boys - to have orgasms in the dream state than it is for women. It also reveals the conflict that many women feel about the good-girl/bad-girl taboo. Aside from overt sexual activities in dreams, the question of sexual images and symbols as they occur in dreams is important. Because sexuality is often cloaked in a heavy shroud of secrecy, either through childhood or throughout life, the subconscious is prone to represent sex in a variety of ways visually. Freud, in his theory of the sexually driven personality, contributed much to this line of thought. - Aloneness Aloneness There is a pronounced difference between being alone and being abandoned. Being alone can be an intentional choice by the dreamer. This usually means finding time for personal reflection and inner growth, and can include regrouping and rebuilding inner strength. Aloneness may also herald transition or rites of passage, which can be exciting or frightening. When we move from childhood to adulthood, habits, attitudes, and relationships are inevitably left behind. This void can create a feeling of aloneness. Dreams like this often present themselves as the dreamer travelling somewhere alone. Consider who is separating from you and why in waking life. Is this mutual, at your initiative, or another's wishes against your will? Dictionary - Horse Dream Interpretation Horse The horse represents passion, sexual needs, boisterous energies. A damaged, starved, shackled, overly confined horse suggests that you are being hobbled by a restrictive condition or choice you've made. Seeing a rider on a horse or riding yourself predicts success of the project, if the reins are held firmly and a rider remains steadily in the saddle. Falling off the horse is a warning that you'd better give up a project you've planned. Dreaming about horses being in the pasture is a sign that you need more freedom and independence. Looking at a foal: a happy event will take place soon. A white horse has a spiritual meaning and stands for ambitious goals, creativeness and intellectual strength. A black horse means death or separation. Pegasus, the winged horse, is a symbol of your imagination and is a sign that you have transformed your instincts and urges into creative energies.
