Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Volcano

Volcano

1. A dormant volcano indicates something that seems calm and peaceful but is ready to explode and make a lot of waves. This could indicate the temper of a friend or family member, or of a boss or supervisor.

2. An erupting volcano indicates a situation that has been ignored for a long time and finally can be held back no longer. Depending on the other symbols in the dream, however, this can also be a dream of contrary: Something wonderful that you’ve almost given up on will finally happen for you.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Crying

Crying Dreaming that you are crying means a release of negative emotions that is more likely caused by some waking situation rather than the events of the dream itself. Your dream is a way to regain some emotional balance and a way to safely let out your fears and frustrations. In our daily lives, we tend to ignore, deny, or repress our feelings. But in our dream state, our defense mechanisms are no longer on guard and thus allow for the release of such emotions. To wake up crying, suggest the grieving of your soul and that you need to change your ways and how you approach things. Dreaming that no one hears or responds to your cries, represents your helplessness and difficulties and frustrations in trying to communicate with others. You feel that your words are falling on deaf ears. Perhaps your dream is telling you to be more vocal and work harder to get your point across

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Body

Body Dream Symbols:

If the body is your own and is clothed, it may represent your ego. If unclothed it may represent exposing your ego as it really is; controlling and out of balance with your total psyche. If it is some else's body, it may represent some hidden part of yourself. If of the opposite sex it may represent your soul or the anima/animus.A dead body may signify some part of you that is as good as dead because you have suppressed or ignored it.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Meaning of Dreams about Adultery

Adultery [10]

  • To dream that you commit adultery, foretells that you will be arrainged{sic} for some illegal action. If a woman has this dream, she will fail to hold her husband's affections, letting her temper and spite overwhelm her at the least provocation. If it is with her husband's friend, she will be unjustly ignored by her husband. Her rights will be cruelly trampled upon by him. If she thinks she is enticing a youth into this act, she will be in danger of desertion and divorced for her open intriguing.
  • For a young woman this implies abasement and low desires, in which she will find strange adventures afford her pleasure.
  • [10] It is always good to dream that you have successfully resisted any temptation. To yield, is bad. If a man chooses low ideals, vampirish influences will swarm around him ready to help him in his nefarious designs. Such dreams may only be the result of depraved elementary influences. If a man chooses high ideals, he will be illuminated by the deific principle within him, and will be exempt from lascivious dreams. The man who denies the existence and power of evil spirits has no arcana or occult knowledge. Did not the black magicians of Pharaoh's time, and Simon Magnus, the Sorcerer, rival the men of God? The dreamer of amorous sweets is warned to beware of scandal.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Basement

Basement

The house generally represents your psychological and emotional self. Each part of the house may deal with a different part of you. The basement is built first. It is often below ground (or at least some parts of it), and is essentially the foundation of the house. Dreaming about a basement and understanding the dream, may provide you with valuable information which may lead to greater self-awareness. A recurring dream about basements (i.e. being in a basement, cleaning a basement, furnishing a basement, etc.) should not be ignored. These dreams may be symbolic of your unconscious, instincts and intuition, and degree of awareness of a current situation or a problem. The look of the basement may provide you with clues about your current feelings and state of contentment. If the basement is a mess, and you see great disorder and clutter, it suggests that you may be experiencing confusion and that it is a very good time to "sort" things out emotionally and psychologically. At times, the activities which are going on in the basement of your dream may be based on past experiences or childhood memories. As with all dreams, their main purpose seems to be to bring the dreamer to higher consciousness so that he may deal with his current issues more effectively, rather than to dwell on the past.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Devil

Devil Dream Symbols:

In Jewis-Christian-Islamic traditions Satan was represented by a horned fertility god, a personification of the fertilizing power of nature. In psychological terms, a fertilizing agent is something within the psyche that can inaugurate a new phase in the individual's development. It also may represent the repressed contents in the unconscious that can lead one to a fuller and balanced life.

From SpiritCommunity

Devil Dreaming about devils and demons is usually very frightening and you may awake from fear. The devil does not generally represent something outside of yourself. It usually symbolizes the most negative and least developed part of you. It may be that part of you that is ignorant and destructive. You can determine the meaning and message in your dream by looking at all of the details carefully. All dreams are good dreams in that they bring unconscious materials to the conscious mind. Only then can you begin to effectively cope with the more unpleasant sides of your personality. Carl Jung called this negative side the 'shadow." The devils in your dreams could be representations of your personal shadow or they could be a glance at the collective shadow.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Cheat

Cheat/Cheating Dream Symbols:

Compromising values or principles. You may feel that you are not measuring up to the expectations of others. It could be a direct reference to some activity in our waking lives. To cheat is to be dishonest. Or it could represent cheating on our true self, an unconscious condition that is played out consciously. We are social animals and our responsibility to our creative, spiritual selves are often neglected and ignored. Our persona may be an extension of our fantasies.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation - Aeroplane, Airplane

Aeroplane, Airplane

Being a passenger in a plane

This dream can be mundane or remarkable, since some people hold an irrational fear of flying, while others are indifferent. A plane appearing in the dreams of those nervous of flying is an attempt by one part of the psyche to quell perceived irrationality in another part. Dreams about flying as a passenger may hold a great sense of adventure for the dreamer. This can be due to the journey, the speed, or the destinations available through air travel. Also, it may be due to potential dangers, such as hijacking, which the dreamer may heroically overcome.

Piloting a plane

Dreams about flying in a plane as the pilot vary tremendously. Is the dreamer a competent person either in sleep or waking? This may indicate a sense of control over circumstances. Does the plane crash? This may reveal a sense of inadequacy or incompetence. Who are the passengers on the plane? This may reveal who you feel responsible for in life, with your flight skills revealing your sense of how well you are fulfilling those responsibilities. If you are piloting the plane, are you competent to do so or are you overwhelmed by the responsibility? Do the other passengers accept or ignore your presence?

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Orchard

Orchard

  • Dreaming of passing through leaving and blossoming orchards with your sweetheart, omens a delightful consummation of a long courtship. If the orchard is filled with ripening fruit, it denotes recompense for faithful service to those under masters, and full fruition of designs for the leaders of enterprises. Happy homes, with loyal husbands and obedient children, for wives.
  • If you are in an orchard and see hogs eating the fallen fruit, it is a sign that you will lose property in trying to claim what are not really your own belongings.
  • To gather the ripe fruit, is a happy omen of plenty to all classes.
  • Orchards infested with blight, denotes a miserable existence, amid joy and wealth.
  • To be caught in brambles, while passing through an orchard, warns you of a jealous rival, or, if married, a private but large row with your partner.
  • If you dream of seeing a barren orchard, opportunities to rise to higher stations in life will be ignored.
  • If you see one robbed of its verdure by seeming winter, it denotes that you have been careless of the future in the enjoyment of the present.
  • To see a storm-swept orchard, brings an unwelcome guest, or duties.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Venus (Aphrodite)

Venus (Aphrodite)

Venus, the planet may be seen rising in the east along with the sun and is known as the Morning Star. It also sets in the west and is the Evening Star. Due to the way this plant travels across the sky, it is often a symbol of death and rebirth. It is associated with the sun and considered to be the sun's messenger and an intermediary between the sun and mankind (between mortal and the impartial). In Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty and love. The love that she represents is not of the emotional and fruitful kind, but rather lust, sensual pleasure and raw animal attraction. Aphrodite was able to stir sexual feelings in both animals and mankind and often represents the perverse side of human sexuality. She is the goddess of the house of prostitution. Aphrodite may represent our basic sexual nature before it is tamed and humanized by emotions and spirit. In order to understand the symbolism of Venus in a dream, some reflection is required. Are you full of lust and/or has your sexuality been ignored? Aphrodite may be stirring your basic sexual nature. If you are feeling drained by life, the planet Venus may be a representation of the ability to regenerate and begin anew. Seeing Venus in a dream may be a reminder that there is an abundance of internal energy and resources accessible to all that tap into it.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: What about wet dreams? Do women have them?

Dream FAQ Dictionary: What about wet dreams? Do women have them?

What about wet dreams? Do women have them?

We sure do. However, while men have most of their wet dreams at 18, women don't peak till the age of 40. Wet dreams come when we are sexual frustrated in waking, but also when we are highly aroused by a new sexual relationship. They are normal and harmless.

I hear that yours is the first major modern book on dreams and sexuality. How could that be true? Freud wrote all about dreams and sexuality.

I, too, was shocked to see how little has been written about dreams and sexuality. Freud wrote about his belief that dreams revealed what he had already decided were the sexual natures of men and women. He did not see dreams as helping us to improve our sexuality and the relationships within which we express that sexuality. Sensual Dreaming focuses on developing our sexuality into a fulfilling, joy-promoting, and love-enhancing part of our lives. In order to achieve that goal, we must first recognize our often invisible inhibitions, resolve them as best we can, and grow into a robust, healthy view of the erotic. Dreams can be powerful teachers in many areas.

Freud's over-emphasis on a limited idea of sexuality and his forced, sexual interpretations of so many dreams seems to have scared people away form the topic. But then modern culture is not yet modern about sexuality. We have yet to learn that until we can speak openly with ourselves and our partners and our families about sex we will continue to let our discomfort and silence encourage sexual abuse, and sexual immaturity and ignorance among teens and adults. Most married couples can't talk openly about what they fear, need and want sexually and this leads to the impossible hope that someone else will be the prefect sexual partner. Talking about our dreams can teach us to talk about our sexual concerns and desires so we can grow up and leave our sexual adolescence behind

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Dictionary - Friend

Friend

  • To dream of friends being well and happy, denotes pleasant tidings of them, or you will soon see them or some of their relatives.
  • To see your friend troubled and haggard, sickness or distress is upon them.
  • To see your friends dark-colored, denotes unusual sickness or trouble to you or to them. To see them take the form of animals, signifies that enemies will separate you from your closest relations.
  • To see your friend who dresses in somber colors in flaming red, foretells that unpleasant things will transpire, causing you anxiety if not loss, and that friends will be implicated.
  • To dream you see a friend standing like a statue on a hill, denotes you will advance beyond present pursuits, but will retain former impressions of justice and knowledge, seeking these through every change. If the figure below be low, you will ignore your friends of former days in your future advancement. If it is on a plane or level with you, you will fail in your ambition to reach other spheres. If you seem to be going from it, you will force yourself to seek a change in spite of friendly ties or self-admonition.
  • To dream you see a friend with a white cloth tied over his face, denotes that you will be injured by some person who will endeavor to keep up friendly relations with you.
  • To dream that you are shaking hands with a person who has wronged you, and he is taking his departure and looks sad, foretells you will have differences with a close friend and alienation will perhaps follow. You are most assuredly nearing loss of some character.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Religion

Religion

  • If you dream of discussing religion and feel religiously inclined, you will find much to mar the calmness of your life, and business will turn a disagreeable front to you.
  • If a young woman imagines that she is over religious, she will disgust her lover with her efforts to act ingenuous innocence and goodness.
  • If she is irreligious and not a transgressor, it foretells that she will have that independent frankness and kind consideration for others, which wins for women profound respect, and love from the opposite sex as well as her own; but if she is a transgressor in the eyes of religion, she will find that there are moral laws, which, if disregarded, will place her outside the pale of honest recognition. She should look well after her conduct. If she weeps over religion, she will be disappointed in the desires of her heart. If she is defiant, but innocent of offence, she will shoulder burdens bravely, and stand firm against deceitful admonitions.
  • If you are self-reproached in the midst of a religious excitement, you will find that you will be almost induced to give up your own personality to please some one whom you hold in reverent esteem.
  • To see religion declining in power, denotes that your life will be more in harmony with creation than formerly. Your prejudices will not be so aggressive.
  • To dream that a minister in a social way tells you that he has given up his work, foretells that you will be the recipient of unexpected tidings of a favorable nature, but if in a professional and warning way, it foretells that you will be overtaken in your deceitful intriguing, or other disappointments will follow.
  • (These dreams are sometimes fulfilled literally in actual life. When this is so, they may have no symbolical meaning. Religion is thrown around men to protect them from vice, so when they propose secretly in their minds to ignore its teachings, they are likely to see a minister or some place of church worship in a dream as a warning against their contemplated action. If they live pure and correct lives as indicated by the church, they will see little of the solemnity of the church or preachers.)

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Repression

Repression

The difference between suppressing a desire and repressing it is that suppression is done consciously and repression is done unconsciously. Neither suppression nor repression, however, is a satisfactory solution to a personal problem. Both result in an inflated super-ego {conscience} and a more troublesome shackled and frustrated id {instinctive drives}.

By looking at your dream carefully and, above all, honestly, you can get to know what repressed desires you are carrying around with you. And that puts you into a position to work out for yourself a strategy which will allow these desires satisfaction and fulfillment in ways that will enhance your well-being and happiness and restore peace and harmony to your psyche.

An unbridled satisfying of each and every desire is likely to play havoc with the psyche, pulling it in all directions and destroying harmony and peace, and reducing rather than enhancing your happiness, as well as seriously damaging your effectiveness. Such a complete lack of control usually goes hand in hand with a complete ignorance of what forces are at work in one's unconscious depths. Sooner or later what is repressed will insist on having an outlet, and if there is no knowledge and therefore no rational control of what has been repressed, the latter may take possession of the psyche, destroying what is good and beautiful in it and almost inevitably doing hurt to other people, too.

Understanding your dreams, therefore, is a duty you owe both to yourself and your fellow human beings.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Autos

Autos

Basic Meaning: A car may symbolize yourself and, in particular, your effectiveness in controlling your life.

(1) A car in a dream usually represents yourself, the direction you are going in life, and your effectiveness in controlling your life, attaining your goals, etc. If you are driving the car, this may symbolize taking charge of your own life. (Remember that a dream may be either depicting patterns of behaviour that already exist or recommending to you a new pattern). If some else is driving, the dream may be expressing your over dependence on others.

(2) A car may be a sexual symbol, representing the penis (rare) - especially if forceful motion is emphasized in the dream, or if the car is travelling through a tunnel.

(3) A car that crashes in a dream may symbolize a state of anxiety over some undertaking or situation. If you are driving, the crash may symbolize an unconscious desire to punish yourself. What guilt-feelings are you harbouring? Guilt and sado-masochism often go hand in hand. Dissolve the guilt feelings (which are almost certainly irrational and which, anyway, can contribute nothing of value to life - your own or anyone else's), and the violence will dissolve, too.

The crash may express a (hidden) fear of mental breakdown, in which case you ought to seek help.

Eric Ackroyd

Example in a Dream

Driving an old beat up car down a muddy road on a stormy night.

Possible meaning: The old beat up car may symbolize you and the condition your life is in. The muddy road may represent the path you have chosen is weighing you down or you are stuck. Storms often symbolize struggles and/or turmoil in your life. Night may symbolize your unconscious, either repressed feelings or unconscious motivations.

This dream would represent a negative condition of your life, perhaps emotions or aspects you have repressed or ignored.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation - Lying

Lying

Lying is supposed to be a taboo experience. Early human history held lying as a sacred act of transgression that was not just interpersonal, but against the gods, the fates, or the cosmos. However, sociological research has found that the lie is losing much of its taboo power. Many people are adopting a fast and loose attitude with the truth in order to fulfil or protect their self-image.

Thus, interpreting dreams about lies depend a lot on where you stand with the truth in waking life. If you feel ashamed to lie, the lying dream may indicate that you are being less than genuine in a particular facet of your waking life. This may also indicate guilt in a transaction that has been ignored rather than resolved.

If you are fairly comfortable lying in waking life, then your dream is probably showing you a weakness in some area that needs to be compensated. How you choose to do this will be your business. Quite probably, you are more concerned about how others perceive you than the actual appreciation of yourself for who you are. This is especially true if your dreaming lies are being discovered.

Are you regularly lying to a particular person in waking life?

Do you find yourself exaggerating the truth or outright lying to win acceptance from others in waking life?

Do you feel others are intentionally deceiving you concerning their motives or intentions?

Is there an inner self that you feel would not be embraced if people knew you too well?

  • To dream that you pull one of your teeth and lose it, and feeling within your mouth with your tongue for the cavity, and failing to find any, and have a doctor for the same, but to no effect, leaving the whole affair enveloped in mystery, denotes that you are about to enter into some engagement which does not exactly please you, and which you decide to ignore, but will later take it up and secretly prosecute it to your own disquieting satisfaction and under the suspicion of friends.
  • To dream that a dentist cleans your teeth perfectly, and the next morning you find them rusty, foretells you will believe your interest secure concerning some person or position, but you will find that they have succumbed to the blandishments of an artful man or woman.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Dragons

Dragon Traditions of Myth in East & West

From Dragonorama

Dragons have a deeply rooted connotation in Western culture associating them with evil, whereas in Eastern stories they can also be kind and are considered very wise

The Western Dragon Tradition

Western dragons aren't necessarily evil - but they often are. At the very least they tend to be solitary and bad-tempered.

The typical Western dragon - or Wyrm - is a large, scaly creature resembling a dinosaur or a large lizard. It usually has wings and can fly, often it will breathe fire.

Western dragons tend to live in caves in mountains or hidden away in the forests. They often guard a stash of gold. Western dragons are often used to symbolise greed.

Note: Caves symbolize the unconscious. In dreams a dragon in a cave would often symbolize unconscious fears, or a need to confront {and slay} unconscious fears.

Dragons vary as much as people do. Although many Western dragons are brutal, ignorant creatures who kill and eat humans others are ancient, wise creatures more akin to those found in the East.

The Oriental Dragon Tradition

Whereas Western dragons are usually found in mountains or forests, Oriental dragons are more likely to be found in the sea. Many oriental dragons resemble water snakes.

Oriental dragons rarely breath fire, instead if a mortal annoys one then it is likely to result in great floods.

Note: When confronting the unconscious there is often a reluctance by the conscious mind to accept what is there. Often the conscious ego will throw annoying barriers so one will continue to repress or ignore unconscious contents.

The traditional Western dragon is often seen as a brutish creature to be feared. Oriental dragons tended to be wise and benevolent - as long as they were given the respect they deserved. Their chief flaw was their vanity and if insulted could cause dreadful natural disasters.

Oriental dragons fly to and from heaven in clouds but do not usually have wings. Some sources say that they gain wings after living for a thousand years.

Abraxas

The dragon Abraxas originated in Persian mythology however the name has been taken up elsewhere. As such descriptions of Abraxas vary considerably.

Abraxas is usually described as having either a man or a serpent's body with the head of a cockerel (sometimes two such heads). He has two dragon's feet and carries a whip in his human hands.

The name and image of Abraxas were of importance in Gnosticism and other esoteric teachings. Some identified Abraxas with a supreme deity.

There is much numerological interest in the name Abraxas. The number of letters - seven - is considered important by some. There is also interest in the fact that the letters of the name can be made to sum to 365 in some systems. Abraxas is thus considered the Lord of the 365 Virtues, one of which represents each day of the year.

Some people have sugested that the name "Abraxas" could itself be derived from "Abracadaba".

The name is considered to have great power and is inscribed on stone talismans called Abraxas Stones.

Dream Dictionary Ignorance: Dream Interpretation - Murder, Suicide

Murder, Suicide

Causing death has very diverse meaning depending on who dies, why and how they die, and what interpretive framework seems to fit the death. The changing ethic of death in our society may also begin to effect death in dreams. In recent years, the assisted suicide and euthanasia movements have begun to effect dream presentations of death. The id (the part of the personality which contains our primitive impulses such as sex, anger, and hunger) is often revealed as a mass murderer in dreams. This is because anger and aggression that cannot be displayed publicly works its way into dreams of wish-fulfilment. Recently, stress has been popularly defined as "choking the life out of someone."

Fortunately, the id can do for you in dreaming what the rest of you would like to do while you're awake. If you killed a stranger, you may well have been trying to assault a facet of your own personality that is particularly troubling, self-destructive, or shameful to you. By killing the stranger, you are showing your desire to excommunicate this bad aspect from your life. This can be valuable.

It may have been that you killed yourself. Of course, you may not necessarily intend to kill your whole self, just a part of it. The worthiness of killing yourself in a dream stems from the fact that a pathological tendency or troubling behaviour pattern in your personality needs to be resolved. For example, there is never an appropriate time to steal from another. Consequently, if that is part of your personality at some level, your dream life may try to kill it off by projecting the negative facet onto a stranger (representing yourself) who you then dispatch.

However, what is not worthwhile is killing a part of yourself in order to ignore it. Each of us has shadows of our public selves that we hope are pretty well hidden from the perception of others. We often criticize those around us who are most like us in many ways. These shadows need to be accepted and constructively dealt with so they do not turn into pathologies. The act of committing suicide in a dream should be taken fairly seriously. This act says a lot about how you perceive yourself and your value as a person. If you continue to have such a dream, and the thoughts of suicide run through your waking mind, it may become more than symbolic. If this happens, you should seek out someone you trust to discuss your life with.
