There is an ancient lore associated with the festival of Raksha Bandhan that is celebrated during the bright fortnight in the Hindu month of Shravan. The Bhavishya Purana refers to a battle between the deities and demons. The king of the deities, Indra, was feeling depressed. Indra's wife Sachi then took a thread, charged it with sacred verses for protection and tied it on Indra's hand. Through the strength of this thread Indra conquered his enemies.

| | | | | | Dream Dictionary Forehead: Darkness Before Dawn In Cycle of Yugas
The Brahmakumaris practise Raja Yoga, particularly the trataka form of meditation in order to achieve union with God. It involves keeping your eyes open and fixing your gaze on a tiny red spot with total attention. Raja Yoga gives knowledge of self and enables one to attain peace, purity and harmony. Dawn is preceded by the darkest hour of the night. The Brahmakumaris consider the present time as the most critical period. This will be followed by a new age - the dawn in the great cycle of time. The agent of transition may be the person possessing knowledge of the true self, of a positive soul. One who reaches the highest stage of this knowledge becomes Brahma. The supreme divine being is Shiva, who is an embodiment of knowledge, peace, purity and harmony.

Saivism,
Vaishnavism and Shaktism are considered to be the
major sects of Hinduism. Followers of Saivism worship Lord Siva as their chief
deity and regard him as Iswara, the Supreme Brahman. They wear a mark of three
horizontal stripes on their foreheads. Followers of Vaishnavism worship Lord Vishnu

| | | | Dream Dictionary Forehead: Inspiring Tales of True Conversion
Swami Ranganathananda of the Ramakrishna Mission says that when a soul is uplifted, a worthwhile conversion takes place that takes the soul vertically upward - from bad to good. This conversion benefits both the individual and society. Organised religion has two sides to it: One is dogmatic, narrow, given to fanaticism, that insists on rituals, rules, regulations, disciplines. The other side, the spiritual, elevates and feeds the soul and accepts goodness in all religions. Rituals and prayers are merely means to rein in our senses to bring out our sattvic gunas.

| | | | Dream Dictionary Forehead: Are Religious People Social Misfits?
The materialist often views a religious person as being unsociable, dogmatic and lacking in intellectual insight. There is a certain perception that 'religious' people don't drink or smoke; they pray before every meal, frown at the free mixing of the sexes, are superstitious, impractical and way behind the times. Hence religious people are looked upon as social misfits. However, the religious person understands that though he may be a social misfit, others are misfits of a different kind. They are spiritual misfits. They do not fit into the wider, more important, spiritual scheme of things.

| | | | Dream Dictionary Forehead: Dazzling Mystical Lights in MeditationDazzling
Mystical Lights in Meditation
Sometimes, during meditation, you will get very powerful and dazzling
lights, bigger than the sun. They are white in color. In the beginning, they
come and disappear quickly. Later on, they are steady and they become fixed for
ten to fifteen minutes according to the strength and degree of concentration.
For those who concentrate at the Trikuti, the light appears in the forehead;
while for others who concentrate at the Sahasra Chakra, the light manifests
itself at the top of the head. The light is so powerful and dazzling sometimes
that you have to withdraw yourself from looking at it and break the meditation.
