Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Garbage

Garbage

A dream of contrary, usually a positive omen. Taking out the garbage symbolizes jettisoning all the “garbage” in your life that is holding you back from success. Walking through or past garbage indicates passing by or over negative influences and thus heading for happiness and good fortune.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Lizard

Lizard:

1. If you see a lizard among a group of people, then there is a false friend nearby who would betray you in a moment if it suited his or her ends.

2. In Native American mythology, the lizard is the dreamer. Dreaming of a lizard, therefore, is a sign that this dream is important and reveals a lot about where you're coming from, where you're going, and how best to get there. In order to get this information, look to the other symbols in the dream.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Moon

Moon

An astrological symbol relating to the emotions. If the Moon is full and bright, much happiness and success lie ahead. If the Moon is new or in the crescent phase, you may not be aware of your own feelings with regard to specific circumstances. A Moon partly or fully obscured by clouds hints at outside matters affecting feelings that you’re currently unaware of, yet still need to deal with.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Ocean

Ocean

It traditionally represents our great unconscious, memories, emotions, and individual soul and collective experiences. Look at all of the details in this dream. Is the water clear or murky? Is it calm or turbulent? Are you catching fish, or are you stranded and afraid? Look, listen, and try to comprehend the messages in this dream. No one is in a better position to give meaning to your dreams than you can. Concentrate and learn for yourself.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Attic

Attic

Any part of a house usually represents a part of yourself (dreamer = house). The attic is the last thing built. Consider the details of the dream and try to figure out what your unconscious is trying to tell you. Some believe that the attic symbolizes the higher self, or best self (i.e. the self that is in contact with the eternal). Others think that the attic symbolizes the sum total of your life's work or it may predict how well you will do in old age. If the attic is full of "neat" stuff, it may imply that you are accomplishing wonderful things and are living up to your potential in this lifetime.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Dolphin

Dolphin

Dolphins represent friendliness, communal living, rescue, communication, and affection. They are water dwelling mammals and in our dreams they represent our willingness and ability to navigate through emotions. They represent positive messages from our unconscious minds. Dolphins could also represent a positive connection between our consciousness and to those parts of the psyche that is a mystery and largely unconscious.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Dictionary - Intercourse, Ses

Intercourse

The interpretation of this dream depends on the details. If you were personally involved and you enjoyed the experience, it is, obviously, an omen of happy adjustment to your circumstances. If your dream featured others having intercourse, the meaning relates to whether or not your reactions were unpleasant. If they were, it is likely you are repressing an emotional problem and some psychological counseling might prove beneficial; if they were not, contentment and success will soon be yours.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Diving

Diving

Diving in a dream suggests that you are trying to "get to the bottom" of a current situation or feeling. Water symbolizes the unconscious. Thus, another interpretation for this dream may be that you are delving into your unconscious. Finally, Freud thought that diving may have sexual connotations and represents intercourse.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Crying

Crying

In our dreams we experience a variety of emotions. Crying in the dream state generally has the same meaning as crying in daily life. It is a release of negative emotion, frustration, or fear. On the other hand, you could be experiencing the tears of joy. Due to repression or denial, sometimes people are unable to express their feelings. In the dream state some of our defense mechanisms may relax and an emotional release occurs. Some emotional dreams may be compensatory in nature. Thus, if you never cry in daily life, you may cry in your dreams.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Melody, song

Melody, song

Hearing sounds in your dreams can be looked at from a spiritual point of view. Nice sounds are usually positive symbols. Some may say that in your dream state you have traveled to other higher and more spiritual plains. Traditional interpretations tell us that if you hear a familiar melody, you may bump into old friends. Psychologically speaking, you may have heard a song during the day and in your dream state you are simply replaying it. However, since dreams always have meaning, the song that you are dreaming about may have messages in it that will assist you in solving a problem or will help you to feel better.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation - Loss of a Sensory Ability or of a Motor Ability

Loss of a Sensory Ability or of a Motor Ability

Usually, this is a very symbolic event in a dream. A 34-year-old man reports: I dream of being in a situation where I need to act resourcefully to help a stranger avoid danger. Suddenly, I go blind for no apparent reason! It is very frustrating.

Becoming suddenly impaired in this way is different from being injured in a physical accident. The lights just seem to go out without explanation. With a dream like this, it is questionable whether or not the dreamer feels competent to fulfil his duties in waking life. However, this can also refer to his reluctance to accept the challenge of the hero self.

Seeing oneself as a hero is kind of daunting, and the fact that it is your dream doesn't mean that you will necessarily and easily assume that role. Suddenly, the awareness of caring for those to whom you have no obligation is quickened. It's a hassle. Many of us can barely fulfil responsibilities to the people around us in ordinary situations. Another scenario for loss of a sensory ability is to exchange it for something or someone else. The old saying, "I'd give my eye teeth for..." articulates the human willingness to exchange one ability or attribute for something else of value. There are many times when our minds use the principle of exchange to help us verify the relative worth of relationships or objects.

There can also be a distinct martyr image attached to this kind of loss. This is especially true when the dream includes loss of ability through some potentially painful means. The loss may be seen as an exchange for something that was gained during the dream or in waking life.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Cave

Cave

Caves are rich and thought-provoking dream symbols. At times, a woman with reproductive issues may have a cave dream, in which case it represents the womb. The cave, as the womb, can represent new life, creativity, warmth and safety. The cave can be a general symbol of a safe place, a sanctuary or a refuge. If you are experiencing much anxiety in daily life, in your dream state you may retreat to a warm cave where you cannot be disturbed by worldly demands. The cave could also represent the mysterious and unexplored parts of ourselves. It could be symbolic of the unconscious mind, which could be a pleasant or a frightening experience. Your personal associations and experiences with caves, as well as the details and the emotional content of this dream, need to be carefully considered before making an interpretation.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Bag

Bag

This symbol’s significance depends greatly on the other symbols in the dream. If the bag is empty, it could signify financial trouble ahead, but this can be averted with a little caution. A full or heavy bag indicates financial success, and a large full bag implies the attainment of some of your more cherished dreams. A suitcase indicates travel ahead.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation - Missing Appointments

Missing Appointments

Many people live and die by their desk calendar these days. Ours is a time-conscious, time-driven culture. Most of us have more things to do on our schedules than we can comfortably manage. These pressures have created an environment where missing appointments and scheduled events is a constant threat.

Dreams to this effect are common. One of the trigger events for these dreams is the nagging fear that we may not get everything done in the time given. Our anxiety about appearing competent to others is fragile and often assaulted in dreams.

Another interpretation of this dream is missing an opportunity. Life throws up so many possibilities that it?s impossible to try everything. Each invitation comes with the promise that this event could change your life. The changes may include relationship or career rewards.

A final scenario revolves around fulfilling the relationship obligations that already exist in your life. In this case, dreams of missed appointments may be reminding you of personal obligations that already exist. You may be missing appointments as a sign that you are not fulfilling the needs of your spouse, family, or employer.

It is always something awesome and wondrous. Dreaming about resurrection may point to the awakening of your spiritual nature. Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Map

Map

The interpretation depends on whether you are following a map to a particular destination and you feel good about it, or whether you are trying to follow a confusing chart. A confusing chart may indicate that you lack a clear sense of direction in your everyday life or are in the midst of changing long term plans. Following a good map in your dreams suggest that you are feeling confident in your current path and pursuits.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Devil

Devil

The circumstances in the dream are very important. If you see the Devil in his usual context—in a pit full of fire, surrounded by demons—then you’d better ask yourself what guilty secret you’re hiding and how it applies to your present circumstances. If the Devil speaks to you and seems friendly, then you’re going to be faced with a temptation that will prove difficult to resist. If you fight him, you’ll resist that temptation. If you see the Devil with someone you know, that person may be trying to manipulate you to serve his own ends.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Defecation

Defecation

Dreams which include excretory functions usually represent cleansing and emotional release. Look at all of the details of the dream in order to obtain meaning. Ask yourself which emotions you may be releasing: anxiety, anger, mockery, annoyance, etc. Some very old folklore interpretations suggest that dreaming of feces is a good omen which suggests a financial gain.

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Dream: I have missed a boat or a plane

Transport : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Dream: I have missed a boat or a plane

Dream: I have missed a boat or a plane

Description: You are rushing to catch a bus, train, ship, airplane or other public transport, only to miss it, usually by a fraction of a second. The dream may involve various misadventures en route to the transport. You often feel frustrated rather than afraid in these dreams. You may be lacking vital papers, such as tickets, passport or visa. In a variation of this theme, you arrive too late for a performance in which you are supposed to participate and find that the play, musical production, sports competition or other event has already begun. (Dreams in which you are having trouble during a performance are classified with "I fail on a test or perform poorly.")

Frequency: Missing the boat dreams are moderately common. Some people have them often, others rarely. They usually arise when you feel anxious about making an important connection to one of your waking goals.

Usual meanings: You feel you've missed some opportunity in your waking life; you're too late; you can't make a connection, that you need to pull yourself together to make the connections you desire.

Questions to ask yourself:

If missing the boat or performance variation:

  • Where are you going in your dream?
  • Why are you going there?
  • What is it that makes you feel you are "too late" or that you don't have what you need to take your part on the stage of life? If missing documents variation:
  • What are you currently trying to accomplish in your waking life?
  • What's missing for you to do your job properly or to get what you want?
  • How can you better prepare yourself for what you want to do?

Dream Dictionary Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Wind

Wind

The wind in your dream could be symbolic of your own spirit or the life force. The wind may represent changes in your life. The greater the force of the wind, the grater the change. A very gusty wind could represent stress and turmoil but also the energy that you need or have to make changes. The sound of the wind and the movement of objects around you are probably what alert you to the wind in the dream, rather than a sensation of wind on your skin (most people don't have tactile experiences in their dreams). The sound of the wind is considered by some to be special because it is a sound of nature and has spiritual significance.
