Spirituality Dictionary on Lucid Dreaming Lucid Dreaming The term "lucid dreaming" refers to dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. The "lucid" part refers to the clarity of consciousness rather than the vividness of the dream. It generally happens when you realize during the course of a dream that you are dreaming, perhaps because something weird occurs. Most people who remember their dreams have experienced this at some time, often waking up immediately after the realization. However, it is possible to continue in the dream while remaining fully aware that you are dreaming. (See Lucid Dreaming) (See also: Lucid Dreaming, New Age Spirituality, Body Mind and Soul)

| | | | Dream Dictionary Beliefs: Reflections on the Dream Traditions of IslamMeaning of Dreams in Islam Few Western dream researchers have any familiarity with the rich dream traditions of Islam. The Muslim faith first emerged in seventh century B.C.E. Arabia as a profound revisioning of early Jewish and Christian beliefs and practices. One theme the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) drew from the scriptures of those two religions was a reverence for dreaming. In the Quran, as in the Jewish Torah and the Christian New Testament, dreams serve as a vital medium by which God communicates with humans. Dreams offer divine guidance and comfort, warn people of impending danger, and offer prophetic glimpses of the future. Although the three religions drastically differ on many other topics, they find substantial agreement on this particular point: dreaming is a valuable source of wisdom, understanding, and inspiration. Indeed, as I will propose in this brief essay, Islam has historically shown greater interest in dreams than either of the other two traditions, and has done more to weave dreaming into the daily lives of its members. From the first revelatory visions of Muhammed to the myriad dream practices of present-day Muslims, Islam has developed and sustained a complex, multifaceted tradition of active engagement with the dreaming imagination. Dictionary - Home, family Dream Interpretation Home, family A dream of home often relates to our sense of emotional and financial security. The most common home theme is that of dreaming of living in the house in which you were a child. Our first home will always remain an emblem of home, family, connections and traditions throughout our lives. The dream may say that you feel nostalgic about the past, or you are trying to relate the past to your present life. | | | | | | | | | | Dream Dictionary Beliefs: If I dream that I die, will I die in my sleep? Dream FAQ Dictionary: If I dream that I die, will I die in my sleep? Is it true that if you dream that you die or that you hit bottom in a falling dream, you will in fact die in your sleep? No, these beliefs are not true. Many people have dreamed that they died or hit bottom in a fall and they have lived to tell the tale! You can explore the meaning of these kinds of images just as you would explore any others that might occur in your dreams. - Doctor Doctor Dreaming about a doctor may represent a need for physical, emotional, or spiritual healing. Doctors are respected authority figures and we usually follow their advice and guidance in regard to our well being. Depending on your belief system, the doctor in your dream could also represent your higher self or inner guidance. If you are currently experiencing a health problem and doctors are a part of your daily/weekly life, this dream may be symbolic of real life difficulties. However, the dream is most likely based on a past event, a memory, or refers to a current need for healing, rather than a prediction of the future. | | | | Dream Dictionary Beliefs: Can people dream of their own death? Dream FAQ Dictionary: Can people dream of their own death? Can people dream of their own death? A. Yes. This has been reported many times. The reports vary widely inwhat actual experiences are made when dreaming of dying; there seemsto be no common pattern. Most probably the prevalent influence isagain the thoughts of the individual about death. It can not befigured out whether dream-death experiences which match patterns givenin actual near-death experiences are just based on reading aboutnear-death experiences. Also, for instances of talking to deceasedpeople, God(s) or other "supernatural" entities after dreamed death,it can not be figured out whether they are "real" or just based onpeoples' religious belief (see also the FAQ for alt.atheism). Awidespread old wives tale is that when you dream of your own death, you will soon die. Given the usual understanding of "soon" (andconsidering section 5.1), experience has proven this false. A sharp line has to be drawn between dreams of death and actualnear-death experiences. The latter occur in people with bloodcirculation failure just before they actually die, and sometimes arereported when medical art brings these people back to life. Whatconstitutes the real source of these experiences is still not knownfor sure. Dreams of death have no connection to this, they are likeall dreams just imagination. Spirituality Dictionary on Precognition Precognition Precognition is the perception of future events over which one doesn't seem to have much control over. As the name suggests, in precognitive dreams the dreamer experiences an event, in whole or in part, before it occurs. It has been suggested that some experiences of de'ja'vu can be explained by precognitive dreams. Precognitive dreams differ from prophetic dreams, in that prophetic dreams predict the future, but the events predicted relate to important areas of life. See ESP.
