Why did this ancient people, that were the most mathematically advanced of their day, choose to use a chronology that consisted of thirteen different periods of 144,000 days each, starting on August 11, 3114, BC and ending on December 21, AD 2012? On a more fundamental level three different types of answers have been given to this question, a materialist, a spiritual and what might be called a pseudo-spiritual, answers that are linked to different world views. | | | | | Dream Dictionary August: The Indigo Child
Author and clairvoyant Nancy Ann Tappe saw a new spirit color (or frequency) she had never seen before. She described it as "Indigo" and coined the term in her 1982 book Understanding Your Life Through Color. Not all children being born now have this frequency, but Nancy estimates that 90% of children under the age of 10 are Indigo children. Also, in my experience, not all the wonderfully aware children have indigo auras. Many that I have seen have yellow auras. However, the information coming out about Indigo children is useful to help us change paradigms about how we raise and interact with all children, most of whom are more aware at a younger age than any generation before.

| | | | Dream Dictionary August: Beyond the Last Blue Mountain
Traditionally, going on a tirtha or pilgrimage is believed to present an ideal occasion for soul-searching. The more arduous the journey, the greater the opportunity to reflect. A yatra is a good time - when the temporal and the timeless meet - to try and expand our understanding of our own selves and the Absolute. This is the spirit of the annual pilgrimage to the hallowed cave-shrine of Amarnath.

| | | | Dream Dictionary August: Krishna Purushottama, The Extra Month
Purushottama, the holy month, occurs once every three years. Devotional practice during the month is said to bring to offenders the chance to be forgiven. According to the Indian Almanac, every three years, an extra month, Purushottama, is included in the year in order to harmonise the lunar month with the solar month. It is technically called an 'intercalary month'. According to the Smarta school of thought this month is unholy, as they refer to it as being 'tarnished'. Prescribing various holy functions for all months of the year, they left this additional 'unholy' month out of their plans.

Use
Feng Shui to Make the New Year BetterUse Feng Shui to Make the New Year Better
Every year the energies around us change and
affect us differently. In feng shui, cosmic energies play a big role in
affecting our well-being. As the earth rotates around the sun, day turns into
night and seasons change. The shorter days of winter tend to depress us while
spring and summer tend to rejuvenate us. Our financial well-being is related to
sunspots on the top of the sun, while sunspots on the bottom of the sun are
associated with economic recession. The moon's gravitational forces are known
to cause earthquakes and floods.
