Doorway Dictionary: The Major Chakras

Chakras are nonphysical organs that transform raw Kundalini energy into more subtle and usable forms of energy. The chakras do not themselves contain energy. Raw energy is drawn up from the planet by the minor chakras in the legs and feet and fed into the main chakra system. Kundalini energy is, in essence, pure thought energy that permeates and binds the universe together. This living energy field can be tapped more deeply by the application of focused, creative will. It can be drawn into the human body and transformed by the chakra system into a more subtle and usable form of energy.

Doorway Dictionary: Feng Shui and the New Children

How does the ancient science and art of feng shui relate to the New Children? Due to their sensitivities, the New Children have often been likened to canaries being sent into the coal mine. Feng shui can be used to transform the coal mine - to create more harmony and balance in our physical spaces and surroundings. Since our homes and physical surroundings are comprised of endlessly transforming and interconnected energy fields, we must develop a conscious relationship with the vast dynamics contributing to these energy fields.

Doorway Dictionary: Heaven and Hell - Places or States of Mind?

Would it surprise you to hear that there are many people who would prefer NOT to believe in an afterlife? For many, the prospect of what they may face after death can be quite horrifying. "When you're dead, you're dead" is a way of looking at life grounded totally in the physical world and its body, but for many, this concept of life and death offers great comfort. This is because believing this way allows the individual to do whatever he or she wishes to whomever he or she wishes without having to worry about "paying the price" at some later time, in some other realm of life.

Doorway Dictionary: A Message from Mayan Elder Hunbatz Men

Maya Elder, Hunbatz Men sent a message to me, and ask that I share it. In the message is a clue to how we can bridge the gaps between the dimensions easily and safely. It also shares how humanity can help keep the creative spirit/essence alive for Mother Earth, the plants and animals by honoring and respecting the things we can not yet see. As creators of our reality it is up to us to "do the work" as Hunbatz puts it. It is up to us to work with Hunab K'u, giver of movement and measure, and honoring spirit so it does not disappear and consequently our beautiful physical reality too.

Doorway Dictionary: Death is a Dream - What the Dead have taught me about the Afterlife

The ability to communicate with those who have passed into the nonphysical or "died" gives a person a unique perspective on life and death. Working as a medium has blessed me with the opportunity to communicate with many in the spirit world. Often through the years, as clients have thanked me heartily for bringing through a loved one, I have found myself sincerely returning their gratitude for the opportunity to "meet" the spirits who came through for them. I have learned a great deal from these communications about the nature of life and "death."

Doorway Dictionary: Agni and the Fire of Self-Inquiry

Agni and the Fire of Self-Inquiry

Self-inquiry (Atma-vichara), such as taught by Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi, is regarded as the simplest and most direct path to Self-realization. However, Self-inquiry is also very subtle and can be hard to accomplish even after years of dedicated practice. It depends upon a great power of concentration and acuity of mind along with an intense longing for liberation. One might say metaphorically that Self-inquiry requires a certain flame. It requires that we ourselves become a flame and that our lives become an offering to it. Without such an inner fire, Self-realization may elude us whatever else we may attempt. Therefore, it is important to look at Self-inquiry not simply as a mental practice but as an energetic movement of consciousness like the rising up of a great fire.

Doorway Dictionary: The Colour Indigo

The tertiary colour Indigo is manifest at the convergence of Violet and Blue within the Light Spectrum.

Indigo is the colour of the 6th chakra - often referred to as the Ajna Chakra or "Third Eye" - partly because of its position over the Pineal Gland and between the brows, and partly because of it's association to paranormal "vision" - seeing beyond the capability of the eyes. Whereas Blue is the colour of transition - "the door to the other side" - Indigo, is the "other side". It is the colour of "synthesis"-which is the act of assembling "seemingly" separate - unrelated criteria into a complete or whole understanding. This translates through the human consciousness as KNOWING - but not knowing how you know.

Doorway Dictionary: Encyclopedia II - Comanche - Culture

Comanche - Social Order. Comanche groups did not have a single acknowledged leader. Instead, a small number of generally recognized leaders acted as counsel and advisors to the group as a whole. These included the peace chief, the members of the council, and the war chief. The peace chief was usually an older individual, who could bring his experience to the task of advising. There was no formal instatement to the position ...

Doorway Dictionary: Encyclopedia II - Artemis of Bana-Mighdall - History of the Character

Artemis of Bana-Mighdall - Amazon Tribe Background. As described in her comic book appearances, Artemis was born an Amazon as a member of the Egyptian tribe of Bana-Mighdall. Three thousand years ago, the two Amazon Queens (Hippolyta and Antiope) split the Amazon nation in two. Hippolyta's tribe traveled to the isolated island of Themyscira to live immortal lives in order to protect the doorway to the Underworld called Doom's Doorway. Antiope's tribe was never given immortality and was forced to mate with common ...

Doorway Dictionary: Encyclopedia II - Door - History

The earliest records are those represented in the paintings of the Egyptian tombs, in which they are shown as single or double doors, each in a single piece of wood. In Egypt, where the climate is intensely dry, there would be no fear of their warping, but in other countries it would be necessary to frame them, which according to Vitruvius (iv. 6.) was done with stiles (sea/si) and rails (impages): the spaces enclosed being filled with panels (tympana) let into grooves made in the stiles and rails. The stiles were the vertical boards, one of ...

Doorway Dictionary: Encyclopedia II - Cybele - Cult history

Cybele - Overview: Anatolia Greece and Rome. At Pessinos in Phrygia, an archaic version of Cybele had been venerated as Agdistis since archaic times. In 203 BC, the aniconic cult object that embodied the Great Mother at Pessinos was ceremoniously and reverently removed to Rome. Her cult had already been adopted in 5th century BC Greece, where she is often referred to euphemistically as Meter Theon Idaia ("Mother of the Gods, from Mount Ida") rather than by name. Mentions of Cybele's worship are foun ...

Doorway Dictionary: Encyclopedia II - Chichen Itza - The site

"Chichen" contains many fine stone buildings in various states of preservation; the buildings were formerly used as temples, palaces, stages, markets, baths, and ballcourts. The Yucatán has no above-ground rivers, so the fact that there were three natural sink holes (cenotes) providing plentiful water year round at Chichen made it a natural spot for a center of population. Two of these cenotes are still in existence, the most famous being the legendary "Cenote of Sacrifice", which was sacred to the Maya rain god Chaac. Offerings of j ...

Doorway Dictionary: Encyclopedia II - Basilica of St. John Lateran - Architectural history

An apse lined with mosaics and open to the air still preserves the memory of one of the most famous halls of the ancient palace, the "Triclinium" of Pope Leo III, which was the state banqueting hall. The existing structure is not ancient, but it is possible that some portions of the original mosaics have been preserved in a three-part mosaic: in the centre Christ gives their mission to the Apostles, on the left he gives the keys to St. Sylvester and the Labarum to Constantine, while on the right St. P ...

Doorway Dictionary: Encyclopedia II - Ottawa O-Train - Pilot project

The present system uses three diesel-powered Bombardier Talent BR643 low-floor diesel multiple unit trains. It is legally considered a mainline railway despite being used for local public transport purposes, and the service it provides at present is, in terms of its route and service frequency, more like that of an urban railway than a metro or tramway. OC Transpo operates it under the official name of ‘Capital Railway’, which appears on the trains along with their regular logo. It is, however, described as ‘light rail’, partly becau ...
