Vijnanamaya-kosa Vijnanamaya-kosa (Sanskrit) [from vijnana intelligence, understanding, discernment + maya built of, formed of, illusory manifestation from the verbal root ma to measure, form + kosa sheath] The sheath formed of knowledge or discernment, the manasaputric soul. According to Vedantic classification of the human principles, the second of the panchakosa (five sheaths) which enwrap the divine monad or atman. This sheath corresponds to the higher manas.
