Desire Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Kama-dhatu

Kama-dhatu (Sanskrit) Desire world; first of the Buddhist trailokya (three regions), called kama (desire), rupa (form), and arupa (formless). In the theosophic scheme, kama-dhatu is composed of the seven manifested globes of the earth-chain on the four lowest cosmic planes. Rupa-dhatu (form or image world) is composed of the five superior globes on the higher three cosmic planes. Arupa-dhatu (formless or imageless world), composed of the three highest of the ten cosmic planes, is to us a purely subjective world, a state rather than a place. The dhatus correspond in meaning with the Hindu lokas.

Desire Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Flying

Flying : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Flying

Flying: Freud believed dreams of flying meant," nothing else but the desire to be capable of sexual activity," the book states. Several other psychologists have agreed that flying dreams are connected with sex. Like all dreams, though, the book cautions, interpretations are very personal. Flying in dreams could mean the dreamer is rising above problems in their waking life. The dreamer could be flying into a rage, the book points out or even flying in the face of fortune.

Sports (see Ball)

1. If you are playing at a team sport, busy times working with other people lie ahead. Whether or not your team wins or loses indicates your level of success. Losing the game, however, does NOT mean failure. It only indicates delays.

2. If you are watching a team playing a team sport, you may feel isolated from the others around you—being on the “outside looking in.” Courage may be necessary for you to join with your community.

3. Participating in an individual event, such as in golf, tennis, swimming or track indicates a strong desire to improve yourself and your circumstances.

Desire Dictionary: Dream Interpretations Dictionary - Banana

Dream Interpretation Banana

A banana symbolizes a desire of erotic adventures. If you are eating banana in your dream, your erotic desires will soon be satisfied. Since banana is a phallic symbol, seeing a banana in a dream means that you want an intimate relationship with another person. Mostly, in female dreams, banana represents sexual desires. If the banana is rotten, it may point to disappointments in matters of love.

Desire Dictionary: Dream Interpretations Dictionary - Castration

Dream Interpretation Castration

It is a very disturbing dream for any man, and more likely it relates to impotence or fear of it, or anxiety that he might not be able to satisfy a particular woman. The dream might also refer to a fear that someone wants to emasculate you not necessarily in a sexual content. For a woman a dream of castrating a man expresses very powerful emotions. It usually reflects her desire to posses and subdue her partner and feel superior.

Desire Dictionary: Dream Interpretation - Magical Powers

Magical Powers

One of the great things about dreams, especially lucid dreams where you are aware of dreaming and can practically control the outcome, is that you can acquire unusual powers. These may include almost any conceivable ability needed to solve the problem at hand. The problem is that you may lose them without explanation at a critical moment. The acquisition of magical powers may come from a number of sources. You may simply conjure them from within yourself. You may be given an article of clothing that contains special powers, or you may find a rock or other object that projects power into you. The implication is that you can solve problems with available resources. However, this may simply be a wish-fulfilment dream to dispose of problems without working them through.

The loss of powers is often a reality-check dream. While you may think you have power in your dream to do great and glorious things, the truth in waking is that problems do not always solve themselves. There may be a level at which your mind is concerned about your waking bravado in certain situations.

The magic you experience could be a sign that you are struggling against the most reasonable outcome of a particular situation. Often, we are unable to appreciate the logic or simplicity of a given situation because of our desire to over analyse it.

Are the magical powers you have in your dream physical or mental?

What do you use these powers to accomplish?

Desire Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Reincarnation

Reincarnation Reimbodiment; specifically reinfleshment, the repeated imbodiment of the reincarnating ego in vehicles of human flesh on this earth. The unexhausted desire for earth-life draws the ego back to this globe, where it gathers to itself the material for a reincarnation and thus is finally born from a human womb. The process is repeated almost numberless times until the evolution of the inspiriting monad has reached a stage when reincarnation is no longer required. The interval between successive incarnations may be roughly estimated at 100 times the length of the preceding earth-life -- a rule obviously subject to many exceptions.

Desire Dictionary: Alternative Health Dictionary on Hippocrates health program

Hippocrates health program (Hippocrates program): Variation of Nature Cure developed by wholistic health educator Dr. Ann Wigmore (1904-1994), author of Be Your Own Doctor, The Healing Power Within, The Hippocrates Diet and Health Program, Hippocrates Live Food Program, Recipes for Longer Life, The Sprouting Book, The Wheatgrass Book, and Why Suffer?. Wigmore founded the Hippocrates Health Institute in 1957.

The Hippocrates program encompasses brushing the skin, deep breathing, enemas, food combining, the Hippocrates Diet (see Living Foods Lifestyle), and exercises such as squatting. According to its theory, integration of body/mind/spirit is central to health. In Belief: All There Is (1991), Brian R. Clement, codirector of the Hippocrates Health Institute, in West Palm Beach, Florida, asserted: [B]elief can bring you anything that you desire (p. 41). He further stated that death is a sham (p. 67).

Desire Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Trimurti

Trimurti (Sanskrit) [from tri three + murti imbodiment, form]

The Hindu triad, consisting of Brahma, the emanator or evolver; Vishnu, the sustainer or preserver; and Siva, the beneficent, the destroyer, and the regenerator. These three entities as individualized divinities form the apex or crown of the spirit of the solar system. In the human being, Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva represent the three divine-spiritual principles of the seven -- directly following forth from the highly recondite superspiritual triangle which, with the seven principles, make the full ten human principles.

In the world of matter, Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva are each personified by earth, water, and fire, i.e., each of these divinities combines in itself these three elements, one predominating when the divinity manifests one of its three fundamental gunas. "In Indian Puranas it is Vishnu, the first, and Brahma, the second logos, or the ideal and practical creators, who are respectively represented, one as manifesting the lotus, the other as issuing from it" (SD 1:381n). But Brahma, for instance, because of the significance of expansion inherent in the name, could equally well be looked upon as the source of Vishnu, manifesting as the cosmic waters or Second Logos. This perhaps is the reason why in this Trimurti, Brahma is called the emanator or evolver, and Vishnu the sustainer or preserver.

These three persons or aspects of the triad are really three sides of the same cosmic reality; and to gain an accurate understanding of their respective functions it should be born in mind that any one of the three may at any time, if the matter is considered from a different viewpoint, be said to contain the functioning elements of the other two in addition to its own. "Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva are a trinity in a unity, and, like the Christian trinity, they are mutually convertible. In the esoteric doctrine they are one and the same manifestation of him 'whose name is too sacred to be pronounced, and whose power is too majestic and infinite to be imagined' " (IU 2:277-8).

In the Vedas, where neither Brahma nor Siva is known under these names, the trinity usually consists of Agni (fire), Vayu (air), and Surya (sun), the originants of the terrestrial, atmospheric, and heavenly fire respectively. The Padma-Purana states that in the beginning the great Vishnu desiring to produce the whole world, became threefold, in himself the creator, preserver, and destroyer. In order to produce the world, the supreme spirit emanated from the right side of his body, himself, as Brahma; then, to preserve the universe, he produced from the left side of his body, Vishnu; and to destroy the world he produced from the middle of his body the eternal Siva.

The three persons of the Trimurti are the three qualificative gunas or attributes of the universe of differentiated spirit-matter, self-formative, self-preserving, and self-destroying for purposes of regeneration and perfectibility. Because Brahma is the considered the formative or emanative force, it is said to be personified imbodiment of rajas, the quality of activity, of desire for creation -- that desire owing to which the universe and everything in it is called forth into being. Vishnu because of its preservative and sustaining function is said to be the imbodied sattva, which characterizes the intermediate period between full growth and the beginning of decay; and Siva is said to be the imbodiment of tamas which, in one of its functions, is the attribute of stagnancy and final decay, and thus becomes the destroyer.

The Jewish Qabbalistic triad, Sephirah, Hokhmah, and Binah, is identical in certain philosophical respects with the Hindu Trimurti.

Desire Dictionary: Ayurveda Ayurvedic Dictionary on Meditation

Meditation

Ideal for disciplining the mind and removing stress & strain, it is best done after a quick bath to cleanse yourself. Critical in satisfying the mind's hunger, when done well it is so nourishing that even the body can survive on less. Control of desire, or mental hunger, is the key to longevity and immortality. Anything can be meditation so long it is sincere and heartfelt. The simplest and healthiest involves the sun and its golden colour is deemed the most nourishing and productive.

While this routine acts as a critical shield of defence against the destabilising influences of an external environment, by using selective choice in some of the other factors mentioned below you can easily improve upon the condition of your total health.

Desire Dictionary: Dream Interpretations Dictionary - Fish

Dream Interpretation Fish

The fish always stands for sexual craving or a desire to have children. Watching several fish in the clear water is a good omen: try your luck in the lottery. Catching fish means success for a recently started project or you will come into money. For a women, dreaming about fish could mean a possible pregnancy. If a pregnant woman dreams about eating fish, labour will be easy. Seeing or eating small fish means that you feel sad and dissatisfied. If the fish is cold or slippery, someone is flattering you and want to take advantage of you. To dream of a fishing rod foretells financial gains. Being swallowed by a fish reflects your emotional conflict and frustration.

Desire Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Broom

Broom

1. Using a broom to sweep indicates a strong desire to clean all non-essentials out of your life. If the broom is new, it implies good news and/or success. If the broom is old and dirty, however, making the necessary changes in your life is going to be more difficult and take longer than you think.

2. Dreaming of the plant broom indicates that you are feeling bitter about something in your life, or that you feel that your life is barren and joyless. If the plant is flowering, however, there is a chance for a new start.

Desire Dictionary: Spiritual Theosophical Dictionary on Trailokya, Trilokya

Trailokya, or Trilokya (Sanskrit). Lit., the "three regions" or worlds ; the complementary triad to the Brahmanical quaternary of worlds named Bhuvanatraya.A Buddhist profane layman will mention only three divisions of every world, while a non-initiated Brahman will maintain that there are four. The four divisions of the latter are purely physical and sensuous, the Trailokya of the Buddhist are purely spiritual and ethical. The Brahmanical division may be found fully described under the heading of Vyahritis, the difference being for the present sufficiently shown in the following parallel:

Brahmanical Division of the Worlds. Buddhist Division of the Regions.

1.     Bhur, earth.

2.     World of desire, Kamadhatu or Kamaloka.

3.     Bhuvah, heaven, firmament.

4.     World of form, Rupadhatu.

5.     Swar atmosphere the sky.

6.     Mahar, eternal luminous essence. }

7.     The formless world Arupadhatu.

All these are the worlds of post mortem states. For instance, Kamaloka or Kamadhatu, the region of Mara, is that which medieval and modern Kabalists call the world of astral light, and the "world of shells Kamaloka has, like every other region, its seven divisions, the lowest of which begins on earth or invisibly in its atmosphere; the six others ascend gradually, the highest being the abode of those who have died owing to accident, or suicide in a fit of temporary insanity, or were otherwise victims of external forces. It is a place where all those who have died before the end of the term allotted to them, and whose higher principles do not, therefore, go at once into Devachanic state - sleep a dreamless sweet sleep of oblivion, at the termination of which they are either reborn immediately, or pass gradually into the Devachanic state. Rupadhatu is the celestial world of form, or what we call Devachan.

With the uninitiated Brahmans, Chinese and other Buddhists, the Rupadhatu is divided into eighteen Brahma or Devalokas; the life of a soul therein lasts from half a Yuga up to 16,000 Yugas or Kalpas, and the height of the "Shades" is from half a Yojana up to 16,000 Yojanas (a Yojana measuring from five and a half to ten miles !), and such-like theological twaddle evolved from priestly brains. But the Esoteric Philosophy teaches that though for the Egos for the time being, everything or everyone preserves its form (as in a dream), yet as Rupadhatu is a purely mental region, and a state, the Egos themselves have no form outside their own consciousness. Esotericism divides this " region" into seven Dhyanas, "regions", or states of contemplation, which are not localities but mental representations of these.

Arupadhatu: this "region" is again divided into seven Dhyanas, still more abstract and formless, for this "World" is without any form or desire whatever. It is the highest region of the post mortem Trailokya; and as it is the abode of those who are almost ready for Nirvana and is, in fact, the very threshold of the Nirvanic state, it stands to reason that in Arupadhatu (or Arupavachara) there can be neither form nor sensation, nor any feeling connected with our three dimensional Universe.
