Purple Heart - Award Specifications.
The Purple Heart differs from all other decorations in that an individual is not "recommended" for the decoration; rather he or she is entitled upon being killed or wounded in a manner meeting the specific criteria of AR 600-8-22:
In any action against an enemy of the United States;
In any action with an opposing armed force of a foreign country in which the Armed Forces of the United States are or have been engaged;
While serving with friendly f ...

|  |  |  | Denial: Encyclopedia II - Israel Shamir - Shamir's controversial views
Israel Shamir - Jewish-Christian relations.
Shamir is a strong believer that Jews should abandon Judaism and convert to Christianity. In The Marxists and the Lobby - Part II he states that "There is no tainted blood - acceptance of Christ is the Final Solution of the Jewish Question. … for the Jewish problem is an ideological, not a biological problem."[27] In his essay of April 15, 2001 called Take Two, he claims that Jesus "was hated by the Supply-side bankers and economist of his day. They sent ...

| | | | Denial: Encyclopedia II - Computer insecurity - VulnerabilitiesTo understand something about techniques for securing a computer system, it is important to first understand the various types of "attacks" that can be made against it. These threats can typically be classified into a number of categories:
Computer insecurity - Code exploits.
Software flaws, especially buffer overflows, are often exploited to gain control of a computer, or to cause it to operate in an unexpected manner. Many development methodologies rely on testing to ensure the quality of any code releas ...

Computer fraud case studies - Case 1: Unauthorized Access at North Bay.
Jessica Quitugua Sabatia, a former accounts payable clerk for North Bay Health Care Group, admitted to using her computer to access North Bay’s accounting software without authorization, and in turn issued approximately 127 checks payable to herself and others. Several of the checks were cashed by Sabatia or deposited into her personal bank account, and some were deposited into the bank accounts of others. She attempted to conceal th ...

|  |  |  | Denial: Encyclopedia II - Anne Frank - The Diary of A Young Girl
Anne Frank - Publication of the diary.
Otto Frank survived and returned to Amsterdam. He was informed that his wife had died, but he also learnt that his daughters had been transferred to Bergen-Belsen, and he remained hopeful that they had survived. In July 1945, the Red Cross confirmed the deaths of Anne and Margot and it was only then that Miep Gies gave him the diary. He read it and later commented that he had not realised Anne had kept such an accurate and well-written record of their time together. Moved by ...

| | | | Denial: Encyclopedia II - Computer insecurity - Security and systems designMost current real-world computer security efforts focus on external threats, and generally treat the computer system itself as a trusted system. Some knowledgeable observers consider this to be a disastrous mistake, and point out that this distinction is the cause of much of the insecurity of current computer systems - once an attacker has subverted one part of a system without fine-grained security, he or she usually has access to most or all of the features of that system. Because computer systems are very complex, and cannot be guaranteed to be free ...

| | | | Denial: Encyclopedia II - Computer insecurity - Security measuresA state of computer "security" is the conceptual ideal, attained by the use of the three processes:
Prevention,
Detection, and
Response.
User account access controls and cryptography can protect systems files and data, respectively.
Firewalls are by far the most common prevention systems from a network security perspective as they can (if properly configured) block the normal packet types, preventing some kinds of attacks.
Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS's) are designed to ...

| | | | Denial: Encyclopedia II - Highway 407 Ontario - Unique characteristicsThe 407 uses a system of cameras and transponders to toll vehicles automatically. There are no toll booths, allowing the 407 to be designed as a normal freeway with interchanges. A radio antenna detects when a vehicle with a transponder has entered and exited the highway, calculating the toll rate. For vehicles without a transponder, an automatic number plate recognition system is used. Monthly statements are mailed to users. The name Express Toll Route (ETR) is used since there are no toll booths to stop at. The 407 is the world's first highway to feature this system throughout.

| | | | | | Denial: Encyclopedia II - DNS zone transfer - OperationZone transfer operates on top of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), and takes the form of a client-server transaction. The parties involved in a zone transfer are a client, the "slave" requesting the data from a portion of the database to be transferred to it, and a server, the "master" supplying those data from its database. (Some sources refer to the slave as a "secondary" server and the master as a "primary" server.) The portion ...

| | | | Denial: Encyclopedia II - DNS zone transfer - LimitationsWhilst it is standardized, full zone transfer being described as one of the possible database replication mechanisms in RFC 1034 (with incremental zone transfer described in RFC 1995), zone transfer is the most limited of those database replication mechanisms. This is largely due to a mismatch of database schemata. Zone transfer operates in terms of "wire format" resource records, i.e. resource records as they are transferred using the DNS protocol via TCP and UDP. However, the schema of wire format resource records rarely matches the databa ...

| | | | Denial: Encyclopedia II - DNS zone transfer - Operational problemsThere are several interoperability and operational problems that occur with zone transfer.
DNS zone transfer - Serial number changes.
The preamble portion of zone transfer relies on the serial number, and only the serial number, to determine whether a zone's data have changed, and thus the actual data transfer is required. For some DNS server packages, the serial numbers of SOA resource records are maintained by administrators by hand. Every edit to the database involves making two changes, one to t ...
