Hinduism Dictionary on Deha deha: (Sanskrit) "Body." From the verb dih, "to plaster, mold; anoint, fashion." A term used in the Upanishads, yoga texts, Saiva Agamas, Tirumantiram and elsewhere to name the three bodies of the soul: gross or physical (sthula), astral or subtle (sukshma) and causal (karana). Three bodies of the soul: 1) sthula sharira, "gross or physical body" (also called annamaya kosha), the odic body; 2) sukshma sharira, "subtle body" (also called linga sharira, it includes the pranamaya, manomaya and vijnanamaya koshas); 3) karana sharira, "causal body" (also called anandamaya kosha), the actinic causal body.
