 | | | defunct: Encyclopedia II - Association for Renaissance Martial Arts - Controversy and Criticism
Almost since its inception, the ARMA has been controversial. Director John Clements has been called “the most controversial person in the Western Martial Arts community”, and the ARMA is often criticized by many prominent members of the European martial arts world. There are many reasons for this controversy and criticism, but they may stem from the ARMA’s efforts to promote their own perception of European martial arts. Originally these efforts were directed towards bringing their interpretations into the public spotlight, but increasingly they have focused on correcting what they co ...

Speedrun - Quake.
Main article: Quake speedrunning
Quake is arguably the most popular game to speedrun ever. People first started recording demos of Quake playthroughs when it was released in June 1996 and sharing them with others on the demos/e directory in cdrom.com's Quake file hierarchy. There were two distinct kinds of demos: those in which the player killed all monsters and found all secrets on the map (called 100% demos) and those in which the player ignored these ...

 | | | defunct: Encyclopedia II - Axis Powers - OriginsThe term Axis was first used by Benito Mussolini, in November 1936, when he spoke of a Rome-Berlin axis. Italy, facing opposition to its war in Abyssinia from the League of Nations, sought closer relations with Germany, which under Adolf Hitler had withdrawn from the League in 1933. Mussolini signed a treaty of friendship with Hitler on October 25, 1936 and predicted the capitals of Italy and Germany would form an "axis" around which the other states of Europe would revolve. Later, in May 1939, this relationship transformed into a military and politica ...

Axis Powers - Finland.
After being attacked by the Soviet Union in the Winter War (1939–1940), the democratic Finland was a co-belligerent of Nazi Germany during the Continuation War (1941–1944), seeking to regain its lost territory and conquer East Karelia. Some Finns tended to view (and still do) these two conflicts as separate from World War II.
In Allied usage, Finland was often referred to as an Axis country, which is often deplored as an effect of Soviet propaganda depicting the Finns as fascists ...

Speedrun - Finding the route.
An essential part of speedrunning is to find the shortest feasible route through the game. In highly non-linearly structured games, which are almost exclusively preferred for speedrunning purposes, there is often no obvious choice. The shortest possible route might contain so many obstacles that it is virtually impossible to use, and it is therefore often necessary to find a compromise between ease and distance. Depending on how the player's skill improves, faster but incre ...
