 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Birth and Death are Only Constructs in the Mind
They say that Life is only Existence visible. That birth and death are only constructs in the mind, two points in time, taken to be Reality by one ignorant of the true nature of the Self, the entity which expresses itself as Existence itself, the pure Consciousness. "There is no such thing as death, it is only the body that dies. Can anyone ever say 'I am dead'? Who knows 'I am'?" This knowledge-principle is the all-pervasive, it is ever-existent. It is the false identification with the body that is the cause of grief and sorrow.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Definition of Metaphysics
The term metaphysics originally referred to the writings of Aristotle that came to light after his writings on physics, in the arrangement made by Andronicus of Rhodes, about three centuries after Aristotle's death. Traditionally, metaphysics refers to the branch of philosophy that attempts to understand the fundamental nature of all reality, whether visible or invisible. It seeks a description so basic, so essentially simple, and so all-inclusive that it applies to everything, whether divine or human or anything else. It attempts to tell what anything must be like in order to be at all.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Opportunities for transformation
Did you ever see something go wrong around you and suddenly burst out, How on Earth did I create that? Really, how can bad things happen, even to the sweetest, kindest, most spiritual people on the planet? Where's the fairness in that? The root of the question lies partly in the fact that we live in a state of polarity consciousness. This is a point of view where life is seen as a contrast between opposing forces, and that events are either good or bad. Good or bad is a judgment issue. Judgment belongs within the frequency band of basic, physical consciousness. Yes, in physical consciousness, bad things do exist, and they appear that way because they're designed to.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Discover your soul
The human species is a three part being - mind, body and spirit. The mind is what drives us, the spirit is our personality or ego, and the body is the vehicle that is used to experience the physical world. To experience physicality, one needs to be physical, it's natural then to be focused on the body and its needs. Most all of our waking hours are centred on what the body wants to experience. There is nothing wrong with this arrangement, and it works flawlessly and on auto-pilot throughout our lifetimes with or without our awareness of what makes it tick.

Theosophy Dictionary on Absolute
Absolute (from Latin ab away + solvere to loosen, dissolve) Freed, released, absolved; parallel to the Sanskrit moksha, mukti (set free, released), also to the Buddhist nirvana (blown out), all three terms signifying one who has obtained freedom from the cycle of material existence. Absolute, in European philosophy, is used somewhat loosely for the unconditional or boundless infinitude. On the other hand, Sir W. Hamilton (Disc 13n) considers the Absolute as "diametrically opposed to, . . . contradictory of, the Infinite," which is correct from the standpoint of both etymology and abstract philosophy. Blavatsky uses the term both ways: sometimes equating it with infinity, at other times with the first cause or one divine substance-principle. Strictly speaking, absolute is a relative term. It is the philosophic One or cosmic originant, but not the mystic zero or infinitude. An absolute or a cosmic freed one is not That (infinity), for infinity has no attributes: it is neither absolute nor nonabsolute, conscious nor unconscious, because all attributes and qualities belong to manifested and therefore noninfinite beings and things (cf FSO 89-90). The boundless or infinite, in which exist innumerable absolutes, includes the cognizer, the cognized, and the cognition, and is both matter and spirit, subject and object; all egos and non-egos are included within it. From the zero emanate an infinite number of cosmic Ones or monads. Every absolute is not only the hierarch of its own hierarchy, the One from which all subsequent differentiations emanate, but is also a cosmic jivanmukta, a released monad freed from the pull of the lower planes. Every monad at the threshold of paranirvana reassumes its primeval essence and becomes at one with the absolute of its own hierarchy once more. The absolute is thus the goal of evolution as well as the source, the highest divinity or Silent Watcher of the hierarchy of compassion, which forms the light side of a universe or cosmic hierarchy.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Knowledge By Acquaintance
We are normally acquainted with anything of which we are directly aware, without any inference or knowledge of truth. Am I acquainted with sensations, or with physical objects, or with myself, or with other people? We know something by description if we know that it exists and what it is like, and are not acquainted with it. About: - Nature Of Matter - Nature Of Existence - Appearance and Reality - Existence Of Matter - Nature Of God - Idealism

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Nature Of Existence
The general rule we normally accept is: "All things which I perceive/conceive clearly and distinctly are true." But one can easily raise the objection that: "Does God exist, is he a deceiver who gives us the sense of clear and distinct perceptions of unreal things?"

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Idealism
Idealism is the doctrine that whatever exists, or at least everything that can be known to exist, is mental. (Opposed to materialism: "All there is, is matter") On this view, tables may be real, and independent of our sensations of tables, as long as they are something like ideas - and provided ideas can cause sensations. Our sensations of tables are to some extent subjective, the sensations cannot exist except in perception. Therefore, nothing can be immediately known except what is in the mind.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Nature Of God
Dictionaries usually describe God as the Supreme Being. Since we cannot put God on a table for a thorough investigation, God and his nature is still seen by some as belonging to a belief system. Scholars, who believe in the theory of evolution, naturally think that this system of belief must also have undergone its own evolution. They say that ' animism ' (a belief in souls) slowly developed into ' polytheism ' (the belief in many Gods) and from there developed into a belief of one God.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: The Existence Of Matter
Our fixed point of reference is the existence of our sense data, and what they are like. But the existence of the Self, the 'subject' of those sense data, is as questionable as that of the physical objects, the 'objects' of those sense data. Different people looking at the same thing consider the physical object as accounting for the unity of various perspectives. This begs the question, as to whether anything at all exists beyond my sense data.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Nature Of Matter
We shall now take it for granted that matter, physical objects, the external world exist e.g. that there is a real table which exists independently of our sensations and of which the sensed qualities are the appearances. The question is then: What is that matter like? To this question science provides one answer and it is very different from the answer of common sense belief.

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Appearance and Reality
The totality of all physical things is matter. "Is there any knowledge in the world which is so certain that no reasonable man could doubt it?" This sounds like the question confronted in Descartes' Meditations. But despite the similarity, the problem raised has changed little over the intervening 250 years. Does such knowledge derive from sense experience? What precisely is it that our experiences make us know? Not at all what one might think at first instance. Example of the table:

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Getting A Restful Night's Sleep
Make it a habit to read something uplifting and inspiring every evening, even if it is for only a few minutes. Your "state of mind" determines how well you rest, and to what dimensional level you will journey during your sleep time. After you are in bed and just before falling asleep, take a few minutes to review your day. No judgements or recriminations - just be an observer!

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Keep the Faith - Miracles happen!
Do miracles happen? Absolutely! They happen to all kinds of people all the time. They happen regardless of religion, gender or financial position. By definition, they have a magical unexplainable mystery element that's integral to how it came to be. Whatever that force is that causes such things to happen, it is awe inspiring. Can you force miracles to happen by demanding them or by blackmailing your God with the underlying belief system that if your miracle isn't delivered then you're going to turn your back on your God? Definitely not. You can coax them by recognising them when they happen no matter how little they might be and by being thankful to whatever force you attribute them to. "Thank you for your divine intervention, whoever you are"

 | | | Definition of Metaphysics: Some Esoteric Principles
Esoteric tenets of the established religions clearly state, among other things that "God is everywhere." If we are to believe this statement, we then have to say, "Then God must also somehow be within that which is evil, including the Devil himself!" Well, without going too far into the esoteric nature of the matter, I will simply say that what appears to be evil, is just that, an appearance.
