David Horowitz: Encyclopedia II - Reparations for slavery - Criticism

Reparations for slavery - Comparative utility. It has been argued that reparations for slavery cannot be justified on the basis that slave descendants are subjectively worse off as a result of slavery, because it has been suggested that they are better off than they would have been in Africa if the slave trade had never happened. For example, David Horowitz writes, The claim for reparations is premised on the false assumption that only whites have benefited from slavery. If slave labor created wealth for A ...

A 2003 article in the Fairfax Journal (of Fairfax, Virginia) claimed that 89% of income was spent on fundraising and administration. See also:

David Horowitz: Encyclopedia II - Human rights in Cuba - History and background

Pre-revolutionary Cuba was marked by separation between African and Spanish descent. Even Batista, during his term as President of the Republic, was banned at the Havana Yacht Club, the most exclusive of the upper class clubs [1] People with brighter skin and coloured people had to utilize separate toilets, beaches and streets, and White people were favoured upon black people. David Horowitz: Encyclopedia II - Ten Lost Tribes - Varied claims

There are quite a number of peoples today who cling to the ancient tradition that they are descended from the Jewish Lost Tribes: the tribesmen of Afghanistan, the Mohammedan Berbers of West Africa, and the six million Christian Igbo people of Nigeria. Unquestionably, they all practice certain ancient Hebraic customs and beliefs, which lends some credibility to their fantastic-sounding claims. (cited on p. 217, Pictorial History of t ...

David Horowitz: Encyclopedia II - Neoconservatism - Neoconservative: Definition and views

Neoconservatism - Usage and general views. The meaning of the term has changed over time. It was possibly first used circa 1970 by socialist author and activist Michael Harrington to characterize former leftists who had moved significantly to the right – people he derided as "socialists for Nixon." The "neoconservatives" thus described in this original sense tended to remain supporters of the welfare state, but had distinguished themselves from others on the left by allying with the Nixon administration over foreign policy, especially in their anti-communism, their ...
