Dakini: Encyclopedia II - Dakini - Doctrine

Dakini are timeless, inorganic, immortal, non-human beings who have co-existed since the very beginning with the Spiritual Energy. In some New Age belief systems, they are angelic. This New Age paradigm differs from that of the Judeo-Christian by not insisting on angels being bona fide servants of God. Moreover, an angel is the Western equivalent of a dakini. The behavior of dakini has always been revelatory and mysterious; they respond to the state of spiritual energy within individuals. Love is their usual domain — one explanation ...

Dakini: Encyclopedia - Termas

Termas are key Tibetan Buddhist teachings, many of which were hidden by Padmasambhava around the Tibetan region for future discovery at auspicious times. As such, they represent the only tradition of continuing revelation in Buddhism. The tradition is particularly prevalent in the Nyingma tradition. Termas can be either of the "earth" or "mind". The former are physical objects -- which may be either an actual text, or physical objects that trigger a recollection of the teaching. The "mind" termas are states of mind discovered i ...

The term New Age describes a broad movement of late twentieth century and contemporary Western culture, characterised by an individual eclectic approach to spiritual exploration. Collectively, New Age has some attributes of an emergent religion, but is currently a loose network of spiritual teachers, healers, and seekers. Dakini

Levels of supermundane dakinis include feminine embodiments of Buddhahood itself; their retinue of active manifestations; and their messengers, who may appear to people at any time. Dakini: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Dakini

Dakini (Sanskrit) Female demons, vampires, and blood-drinkers, feeding on human flesh, attendant upon Kali, the consort of Siva; a type of evil elemental. Outside of mythologic explanations, the dakinis may be said to be one type of advanced elemental beings. "But with the Fourth Race we reach the purely human period.

Those who were hitherto semi-divine Beings, self-imprisoned in bodies which were human only in appearance, became physiologically changed and took unto themselves wives who were entirely human and fair to look at, but in whom lower, more material, though sidereal, beings had incarnated.

These beings in female forms (Lilith is the prototype of these in the Jewish traditions) are called in the esoteric accounts 'Khado' (Dakini, in Sanskrit). Allegorical legends call the chief of these Liliths, Sangye Khado (Buddha Dakini, in Sanskrit); all are credited with the art of 'walking in the air,' and the greatest kindness to mortals; but no mind -- only animal instinct" (SD 2:284-5).
