Indigo Children

Children born since around 1982 really are different, like no other generation of record. If the movie "Indigo" makes this point and no other, it has done the world a favor and hopefully will help to engender an overall transformation in how we regard and teach children. Surely it will inspire a forum whereby the children themselves can speak and be heard... for our youngest citizens truly have something important to say that is worth hearing.

Gemstone Therapy

From time immemorial gemstones have been used by all cultures of the world. Their inherent beauty is second to no other material in the mineral kingdom. Today's science of gemmology gives much information about the physical properties and chemical composition of gemstones, but gives no information of their "healing properties". They are extremely powerful tools to aid in balancing the physical, psychological and spiritual sides of life. This is necessary in order to keep oneself in proper order. The information I will give in this section is mainly from the Vedic viewpoint. This has been tried and tested for thousands of years and found to be accurate. The vedas have the greatest wealth of information on the metaphysical properties, as well as the physical properties, of gems and their correct application to enhance the lives of human beings.

The Power of Gems

GemsÕ earliest use was for healing and spiritual ritual. Their value as concentrated wealth came into play at a much later time. Although gems were rare and exhibited great beauty, the reason they were so precious was the power they imparted to their wearers. They are storehouses of power that may be transmitted through contact with oneÕs body. Kings and queens would have gemstones set in their crowns to obtain their potencies. They connected the monarchs with forces enabling them to rule guided by cosmic energies. Priests of different religions used gems in rings for similar reasons. Gems exhibit their power in a beneficial or detrimental way depending on how they are used.

Crystals are tools that augment the flow of energy. They are like magnifying glasses, enhancing that which lies behind them (our thoughts, feelings, intentions and desires). This applies not only to desirable energy, however, but to all energy, both positive and negative. Through conscious use of crystals as tools, we can enhance anything we undertake. Quartz crystals have electromagnetic properties, hence their use in a lot of electrical devices. Since ancient times India has been a source of gems and the knowledge of their uses. They were valued for healing, and for spiritual reasons. Their use as an ornament was of secondary importance. Gems were known to increase the flow of different energies. Individuals would use them both for their own personal uses, and in places where many could benefit from their energies, as in temples dedicated to God.

Gemstone Treatments

Once a person receives a recommendation for wearing a particular gemstone it can be purchased from a dealer of gemstones or a jeweller. It should be noted that the gems must be of natural origin and must not have been treated with heat or irradiation in a laboratory. Such treatments are widely used in the industry to improve the colour or clarity of stones, thus making them more saleable. Although this may make a usually less attractive stone more pleasing to the eye, it effectively negates the stone's inherent energies, rendering it useless for therapeutic applications.

Reiki is an ancient healing practice that involves using universal healing energy to heal physical and emotional wounds. Teaching Reiki to children started with my two year old daughter Mayah. Or maybe it was her teaching me? Her openness and willingness to send healing energy to others has been eye opening to all who have seen her.

She began at a healing group I take her to regularly. Mayah has sent energy to people on the table, and has on occasion gotten on the table herself to accept healing from others. This is what opened me to consider teaching Reiki to the crystal children of the world. These children are already gifted with healing and psychic abilities, and it is our job as their parents, guardians, grandparents etc. to guide and assist our children to understand and explore their healing gifts. Reiki is a perfect place to begin as is simple and easy for children to learn.
