In the "Hollywood" episode, Fonzie (Henry Winkler), wearing swim trunks and his trademark leather jacket, jumps over a penned-in shark while water skiing. Many have noted the shark episode as the moment when they realized the show was no longer worth watching, when it became impossible to maintain a certain suspension of disbelief as this scene was considered unrealistic and of poor quality. The Itchy & Scratchy Show is a parody of violent animated cartoons, and the author Matt Groening attribute them to a mix of older cartoons, mostly Tom and Jerry and Herman and Katnip, although there are other opinions [1]. While not usually as openly graphic or bloody as Itchy and Scratchy, these works depicted physical abuse between their characters with no long-term consequences; Itchy ...

The regular cast appeared in an opening title sequence in which video head shots were arranged in a three-by-three grid, with each cast member appearing to look at the other cast members. The sequence has been widely imitated and lampooned since: A recurring character was Alice's boyfriend, Sam Franklin (Allan Melvin), the owner of a local butcher shop. (By the time of The Brady Girls Get Married, a made-for-TV movie in 1981, Alice and Sam were married.)

Cousin Oliver: Encyclopedia II - The Brady Bunch - Overview

The Brady Bunch - Plot. The idea to make the series was based on creator Sherwood Schwartz's reading an article that a growing share of the marriages in the United States involved children from a previous marriage. Despite the similarities between the series and the 1968 theatrical release Yours, Mine and Ours, starring Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball, the original script for The Brady Bunch (which was titled Yours and Mine at that early stage) predated the script for the film. However, the success of the film was likely ...

Cousin Oliver: Encyclopedia II - The Itchy & Scratchy Show - Poochie

Poochie was a dog character added to the Itchy & Scratchy lineup in The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show. According to the show's plot, the producers believed the cartoons were getting stale, and needed a new character to reinvigorate the show, despite the objections of one of the show's writers, who 'at the risk of sounding pretentious', felt that Itchy and Scratchy comprised 'a dramaturgical diad'. Homer Simpson gets the job of voicing Poochie, who is introduced in the Itchy & Scratchy cartoon "The Beagl ...

There was also a vulture modeled after Mr. Burns — in a cartoon he himself scripted and directed ("Fraudcast News") — who touted the virtues of nuclear power. When Marge protested the cartoon's violence, a cartoonist modeled a squirrel with tall, blue hair after her. The squirrel interrupted a baseball bat fight between the title characters shouting "Don't do that! Hey! Don't do that!" to which Itchy whacked her head off. Elvis Presley also appears in a cartoon, shooting Scratchy when he gets his head stuck in Elvis' television set — a reference to the apocryphal ...
