Cayetano was raised by his father in Kalihi, an ethnic Filipino neighborhood west of Downtown Honolulu. He would grow up as a latchkey child. In Kalihi, he attended Wallace Rider Farrington High School, a public school aptly known locally as "Home of the Governors" as its buildings were named after several early Hawaii statesmen. The school was only a few blocks from his home. Cayetano received poor grades throughout his years at Farrington and was often disciplined by his teachers and counselors. He b ...

| | | | Child discipline: Encyclopedia II - Psychohistory - DescriptionPsychohistory derives many of its insights from areas that are perceived to be ignored by conventional historians as shaping factors of human history; in particular, the effects of childbirth, parenting practice and child abuse. Roman Catholic Church sex abuse scandal - Celibacy and the scandal.
Critics have suggested that the discipline of celibacy in the Catholic priesthood offers a means by which priests with sexual urges that are aimed towards children rather than adults can hide those tendencies, their lack of sexual feelings towards adults being unnoticeable in a completely unmarried clergy. There have been suggestions that child molesters deliberately enter the Catholic clergy due to the "cover" its celibacy provides, and due to t ...

The term "child training" implies a specific type of parenting that focuses on holistic understanding of the child. The "Taking Children Seriously" philosophy sees both praise and punishment as manipulative and harmful to the child and seeks other way to reach agreement with them. The term "attachment parenting" seeks to create strong emotiona ...

| | | | Child discipline: Encyclopedia II - Attachment parenting - HistoryAttachment parenting describes a parenting approach rooted in attachment theory. The infant has a tendency to seek closeness to another person and feel secure when that person is present. In comparison, Sigmund Freud proposed that attachment was a consequence of the need to satisfy various drives. In attachment theory, children attach to their parents because they are social beings, not just because they need other people to satisfy drives. ...

| | | | Child discipline: Encyclopedia II - Ageplay - Sexual ageplaySexual Ageplay is a type of sexual roleplay which, because of its dominance and submission aspects, is considered a form of BDSM. It may be referred to as edgeplay because of its level of social acceptability; such roleplay may involve (fictional) incest, and a common reaction is to associate child roleplaying in a sexual situation with pedophilia. Most sexual ageplayers resent any association with pedophilia, and claim that neither party is encouraged to believe there is a real child involved, and that it involves two consenting adults with one expressing the a ...

| | | | Child discipline: Encyclopedia II - Psychohistory - Independence as a DisciplineLloyd deMause and others have argued that psychohistory is a field of scientific inquiry with its own peculiar methods, objectives and theories and that it is separate from history and anthropology. Some historians, social scientists and anthropologists have, however, argued that their disciplines already describe psychological motivation and that Psychohistory is not, therefore, a separate subject.
Others have dismissed deMause's theories and motives arguing that the emphasis given by Psychohistory to speculation on the psychological ...
