Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Charles Tucker III - Biography

Charles Tucker first met Jonathan Archer about a decade prior to the launch of Enterprise when the two worked together on an early Warp 2 prototype vessel. While a very knowledgeable engineer, he can be rash and "illogical", a fact that early on caused friction between Tucker and Enterprise's Vulcan science officer, T'Pol. During the first year of Enterprise's mission, Tucker found himself coping with situations no Starfleet engineer had ever coped with, and was a key player in the vessel finally achieving its the ...

Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Starfleet ranks and insignia - Alternate and conjectural ranks

Main article: Conjectural ranks of Star Trek Star Trek publications and fan literature sometimes offer additional ranks which have not been mentioned in official publications or spoken of in live action productions. In addition, a number of unofficial sources have offered alternative insignia for several Starfleet ranks. This tendency is compounded by officially licensed products which sometimes explicitly state the existence of ranks and insignia which are never shown in the actual productions, or even sometimes contradict wha ...

Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Starfleet ranks and insignia - Provisional Ranks

Provisional ranks were first introduced in Star Trek: Voyager when several civilian members of a Maquis crew were appointed as officers onboard the Federation Starship Voyager. In the first two seasons of Voyager, it was unclear whether or not the insignia worn by the Maquis was a version of Starfleet insignia or paramilitary insignia of the Maquis. Later seasons of Voyager, however, gave evidence that the Maquis officers, seen wearing the new insignia, had been granted provisional Starfleet ...

Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Starfleet ranks and insignia - Cadet ranks

The rank of Cadet was first established in Star Trek: The Original Series through dialogue referring to Starfleet Academy. Only two Starfleet Cadets were seen in the entire Original Series being a recreation of Cadet Finnegan in the episode “Shore Leave” and an unnamed Cadet in the Dance Bar portrayed in "Wolf in the Fold". In both cases, the cadets were shown wearing a silver grey tunic with a starburst chest emblem. Starfleet Cadets did not appear again until Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. In the film, cadets wor ...

Starfleet ranks and insignia - Flag Officer insignia. Starfleet ranks and insignia - Flag Officer rank information. Fleet Admiral, apparently the highest commissioned rank in Starfleet, was first mentioned in Star Trek: The Original Series, in the episode "Space Seed" when Doctor Leonard McCoy, observing a dinner set for Khan Noonian Singh, commented that the ship must be expecting a Fleet Admiral for dinner. Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Starfleet ranks and insignia - Warrant Officer ranks

Warrant Officer was not mentioned or discussed until the time frame of Star Trek: The Next Generation and it is not known if the rank existed prior to the late 24th century. The only Warrant Officer who has ever been seen in Star Trek was Kosinski, in the Next Generation episode "Where No One Has Gone Before". Due to Kosinski's highly disrespectful attitude to senior officers, there has been much speculation by fans that he was a civilian granted a Warrant rank due to the nature of his assignment as an Engineering Analyst. Kosinski wore a type ...

Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Starfleet ranks and insignia - Enlisted ranks

Starfleet ranks and insignia - Enlisted insignia and titles. When Star Trek was first created, Gene Roddenberry allegedly had stated that, within Starfleet, there were no enlisted ranks since all personnel onboard a starship were trained astronauts and thus had the education required of officers. This comment, however, is quickly contradicted by characters which appear in the first pilots of Star Trek, such as ...

Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Charles Tucker III - Alternate timelines

In the alternate timeline seen in "Twilight", Tucker becomes the captain of Enterprise following the incapacitation of Jonathan Archer and the resignation from Starfleet of T'Pol. He is killed when Enterprise's bridge is destroyed soon before Archer resets the timeline. As stated above, the episode "E2" takes place in another altered timeline, however except for the fact that Lorian is the son of T'Pol and Trip, little else is revealed of the alternate Trip except that he is long deceased (the cause apparently was a tragic one, but not specified in the episode) by the time Lorian's ...

Charles Tucker III: Encyclopedia II - Charles Tucker III - Family

In 2153, Tucker lost his sister, Elizabeth, in the Xindi attack on Earth which destroyed his hometown of Panama City, Florida. In a first season episode, "Fusion," Tucker revealed he had a brother who he practiced "dancing with," although we never saw him. His parents survived the attack and later relocated to Mississippi; they were invited to attend the signing of the UFP treaty in 2161, and kept their promise to attend even after Trip's death. T'Pol requested the opportunity to meet them at this occasion, but it's not known if she did. Little is known of Trip's parents excep ...
