Yantra?Sacred Geometry: YANTRAS - What is a Yantra?
All ancient
cultures had sacred geometric designs representative of their Gods, which had a
mantra (or sacred sound vibration) that corresponded to it. The Indians,
Egyptians, Jews, Chinese, and Mayans all had systems of "planetary
yantras" used to combat malefic influences. Yantra is the ultimate
"symbology". In the Vedic culture we find much power and energy said
to be held within sacred geometric symbols. They are to be found throughout
sacred scriptures, carved in stone, hidden within paintings and in temples.

| | | | Chanting Dictionary: An Introduction to Hindu WorshipThere is no
reference to worship of idols in the Vedas. The Puranas and the Agamas give
descriptions of idol-worship both in the houses and in the temples. Idol-worship
is not peculiar to Hinduism. Christians worship the Cross. They have the image
of the Cross in their mind. The Mohammedans keep the image of the Kaba stone
when they kneel and do prayers. The people of the whole world, save a few Yogis
and Vedantins, are all worshippers of idols. They keep some image or the other
in the mind.
The mental image
also is a form of idol. The difference is not one of kind, but only one of
degree. All worshippers, however intellectual they may be, generate a form in the
mind and make the mind dwell on that image.

| | | | Chanting Dictionary: Buddhist Funeral RitesBuddhism: Funeral Rites as practiced in Thailand and other
South East Asian Countries.
Funeral
rites are the most elaborate of all the life-cycle ceremonies and the ones
entered into most fully by the monks. It is a basic teaching of Buddhism that
existence is suffering, whether birth, daily living, old age or dying. This
teaching is never in a stronger position than when death enters a home. Indeed
Buddhism may have won its way the more easily in Thailand because it had more
to say about death and the hereafter than had animism.

of practices, teachings, philosophies, energy work and more. The word huna
means (among other things) "secret," and may not have been used as
the name of this spiritual path until modern times. The word Kahuna can mean
keeper of the Secret, but is more often defined as expert and could refer to an
expert in any field.

Vedas appear at different times of the cosmic creation forte benefit of human
society. They are considered to be the revelations of the Divine nature, and
its relationship within and without us. "Mantra" is the term used to
mean Divine sound vibration or the word of God. There are teachings of mantras
(hymns), teachings of ritual, theology, and philosophy at the root of all the

and Hope
The Rosary, a common family prayer
among Catholics, contemplates the mysteries of the life of Christ. It opens
with the prayer "Our Father", followed by "Hail Mary"
recited ten times for five decades (10x50) normally using a set of beads. It is
a prayer that helps bind the family and community together. It is a form of
devotion to Mary. The year of the Rosary is being celebrated from October 2002

Serve, Love, Meditate, Realize - The Inner Teachings of Yoga The word "yoga" often brings to mind a classroom of students
attired in exercise clothing attempting to stretch their bodies into different
postures. A more traditional yoga class will even include instruction in
breathing techniques, concentration, meditation, and positive thinking. In the
media today, yoga is often associated with health benefits such as stress
reduction, lower blood pressure, and an overall decrease in illness and
hospitalization rates. This is the Western idea of yoga. If we look to the
Eastern approach, where yoga is a part of the great Hindu and Buddhist
traditions, we find that yoga is all of these things but much, much more as
well.
