Chakras Chakra | A Wisdom Archive on Chakra and Chakras | | Chakras Chakra
Chakras are energy centres which govern the subtle, psychosomatic aspects of our inner being. This Sanskrit term means wheel or disk, and when the chakras are awakened, they turn in a clockwise direction. The chakras open up like flowers and pour out their qualities re-establishing our inner balance and restoring our health and form.
Of the many chakras within the human body, seven have been identified as major. Chakras are first mentioned in the Vedas, ancient Hindu texts of knowledge. | |

Hinduism Dictionary on Naraka
Naraka: (Sanskrit) Abode of darkness. Literally, "pertaining to man." The lower worlds. Equivalent to the Western term hell, a gross region of the Antarloka. Naraka is a congested, distressful area where demonic beings and young souls may sojourn until they resolve the darksome karmas they have created. Here beings suffer the consequences of their own misdeeds in previous lives. Naraka is understood as having seven regions, called tala, corresponding to the states of consciousness of the seven lower chakras as follows: 1) Put, "childless" - atala chakra, "wheel of the bottomless region." Fear and lust (located in the hips). 2) Avichi, "joyless" - vitala chakra: "wheel of negative region." Center of anger (thighs). 3) Samhata, "abandoned" - sutala chakra: "Great depth." Region of jealousy (knees). 4) Tamisra, "darkness" - talatala chakra: "wheel of the lower region." Realm of confused thinking (calves). 5) Rijisha, "expelled" - rasatala chakra: "wheel of subterranean region." Selfishness (ankles). 6) Kudmala, "leprous" - mahatala chakra: "wheel of the great lower region." Region of consciencelessness (feet). The intensity of "hell" begins at this deep level. 7) Kakola, "black poison" - patala chakra, "wheel of the fallen or sinful level." Region of malice (soles of the feet). The seven-fold hellish region in its entirety is also called patala, "fallen region." Scriptures offer other lists of hells, numbering 7 or 21. They are described as places of torment, pain, darkness, confusion and disease, but none are places where souls reside forever. Hinduism has no eternal hell. See: hell, loka, purgatory (also, individual tala entries).

Chakra: The
Agnya Chakra
The sixth chakra is the chakra of forgiveness and compassion.
Forgiveness is the power to let go of anger, hatred and resentment and to
discover, in humility, the nobility and generosity of the Spirit. It is the one
that dissolves all our ego, conditionings, habits, false ideas of racialism,
and all our misidentifications. It is the narrow gate which opens the way for
our consciousness to ascend to its final destination, which is the seventh
center.
Roving eyes, watching impure things, or self-centeredness damage
this chakra. Watching the sky, earth or nature can help cleanse it.

- Chakras: The
Void
Surrounding the second and the third chakra is the Void which
stands for the principle of mastery (guru principle) within us. In many
spiritual traditions, this area is the "ocean of illusions" that
needs to be crossed with the help of a spiritual guide. When the Kundalini is
awakened and passes through the Void, this principle of mastery is established
within us.

| | | | Chakras Chakra: Swadishthan
ChakraSecond Chakra: Swadishthan Chakra
The second chakra is the chakra of creativity, pure attention and
pure knowledge. It is the one which connects us to the inner source of
inspiration, and enables us to experience the beauty around us. The pure
knowledge given by this chakra is not mental, but it is direct perception of
the Reality, that can be felt in our palms and indicates our subtle blockages.
Also this is the center of pure, steady attention and power of concentration.
On the physical level it looks after our liver, kidneys, and the
lower abdomen. When we think too much, this center gets drained of energy and
diseases like diabetes or blood cancer can occur when this chakra goes
completely out of balance.

| | | | | Chakras Chakra: Encyclopedia II - Chakra - Scientific basisThe idea of chakras as understood in Eastern philosophy does not exist in Western medical science. In Eastern thought, the chakras are thought to be levels of consciousness, and states of the soul, and 'proving' the existence of chakras is akin to 'proving' the existence of a soul. A mystic deals with these metaphysical concepts on the metaphysical plane, as a model for their own internal experience, and when talking about 'energy centres', they are generally talking about subtle, spiritual forces, which work on the psyche and spirit, not ab ...

| | | | Chakras Chakra: Encyclopedia II - Chakra - Various modelsChakrology is a neologism sometimes employed by Alternative Medicine practitioners or esoteric philosophers for the study of chakras. There are many different chakrologies, some of them based on ancient Indian Hindu Tantric esoteric traditions, New Age interpretations, or Western occult analyses, as well as ancient Greek and Christian references. Croatian esoteric philosopher and physicist Arvan Harvat notes that it would be very difficult to develop a unified coherent chakra science that would integrate all the elements of the various present chakrologies.

| | | | Chakras Chakra: Encyclopedia II - Chakra - IntroductionIn Hinduism and its spiritual systems of yoga and in some related eastern cultures, as well as in some segments of the New Age movement -- and to some degree the distinctly different New Thought movement -- a chakra is thought to be an energy node in the human body.
The word comes from the Sanskrit cakra चक्र meaning "wheel, circle", and sometimes also referring to the "wheel of life". The pronunciation of this word can be approximated in English by chuhkruh, with ch as in chart and both instances of a as in yoga (the commonly found pronunciatio ...
