Chakras are in the Linga Sarira (astral body). Linga Sarira is of 17 Tattvas, viz., 5 Jnanendriyas (ears, skin, eyes, tongue and nose); 5 Karmendriyas (speech, hands, legs, genitals, anus); 5 Pranas (Prana, Apana, Vyana, Udana, Samana); Manas (mind); and Buddhi (intellect). These have corresponding centres in the spinal cord and the nerve-plexuses in the gross body. Each Chakra has control and function over a particular centre in gross body.

The Crown Chakra

Chakra - Chakras: The chakras and channels of energy

Inside every human being there is a network of nerves and sensory organs that interprets the outside physical world. At the same time, within us resides a subtle system of channels (nadis) and centers of energy (chakras) which look after our physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual being.

Svadhisthana chakra is located a few inches above the root chakra in the general area of pelvic sexual arousal. Its element is water. It is associated with the endless seeds within seeds for all future incarnations and is the primary basis of conventional sexuality.

The Throath Chakra

This chakra radiates a blue light, when seen from the highest level - a clear blue color, not light blue, but a clear blue color, like the sky on a clear summerday.

The Hara Chakra

The hara chakra radiates a purple light, when seen from the highest level. Purple is a vivid pink, or red-violet, bright red-violet, color. When this chakra is clean, then the person think only positive thoughts, then no impure thoughts or feelings can penetrate.

Chakras: Sahasrara Chakra

The seventh or crown chakra, sahasrara is of such a spiritual nature that restrictions of time, space, and mortality are completely transcended. Sahasrara is the thousand-petaled lotus of holy effulgence, experienced as the light of ten million suns; "like mercury light kept in a vessel of silver. The thousands of convolutions of the brain appear like the luminous petals of a lotus," says the inwardly sighted yogi Vyas Dev.

Chakras: Manipura Chakra

Manipura chakra, the solar plexus center, is where the fire element presides. The whole gamut of heated emotions of jealousy, anger, vanity, belly laughter, and willful assertiveness is based here. Manipura is associated with the navel, and feelings of dependency and autonomy relate to it, as well as the psychological ideal of "emotional honesty."

Chakras: Anahata Chakra

Anahata chakra, the heart center, is related to the air element. Here the language of emotional needs is replaced by that of devotional needs, which is to say, "I need" has become "I love" or "I feel devotional yearnings." The soul is reaching beyond the ego's hopes for self-directed autonomy and emotional closeness and senses the fulfillments of a shared reality. Indeed, the limited and fictive sense of the separate-self ego is coming to light.

Fifth Chakra: Vishuddhi Chakra

The fifth chakra is the chakra of diplomacy, of pure relationships with others, and of playful detachment. It removes all our guilts and remorses when it is opened by the Kundalini, and gives us a kind and compassionate voice. The tendencies to dominate others or to feel dominated by others, the feelings of superiority or inferiority and all jealousies are removed when this chakra is nourished by the Kundalini. Also, the Vishuddhi is the chakra which gives us the connection with the whole, enabling us to feel our oneness and the fact that we are all part and parcel of the whole.

Seventh Chakra: The Sahasrara Chakra

The seventh center integrates all the chakras with their respective qualities. It is the last milestone of the evolution of human awareness. Nowadays, we are at a level which corresponds to this chakra, and our consciousness is able to easily enter into this new realm of perception, which is beyond our limited mind and concepts, and which becomes absolute at the level of the Sahasrara. This chakra gives us the direct, absolute perception of Reality on our central nervous system.

Third Chakra: Nabhi Chakra

The third chakra is the one that gives us the sense of generosity, complete satisfaction and contentment. On the left side, the main quality of this center is peace - clearing this chakra can relieve stress and tensions. On the right side, it looks after our liver which is the organ of our attention and power of concentration.

When enlightened by the Kundalini, the Nabhi chakra gives us our spiritual ascent, righteousness and inner sense of morality, and complete balance at all levels in our life.

Sixth Chakra: The Agnya Chakra

The sixth chakra is the chakra of forgiveness and compassion. Forgiveness is the power to let go of anger, hatred and resentment and to discover, in humility, the nobility and generosity of the Spirit. It is the one that dissolves all our ego, conditionings, habits, false ideas of racialism, and all our misidentifications. It is the narrow gate which opens the way for our consciousness to ascend to its final destination, which is the seventh center.

Roving eyes, watching impure things, or self-centeredness damage this chakra. Watching the sky, earth or nature can help cleanse it.
