Burlington is a city located in Des Moines County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 26,839. It is the county seat of Des Moines CountyGR6. Burlington is the home of Snake Alley, the crookedest alley in the world, and has been called the Backhoe Capital of the World. Burlington was the first capitol of Iowa.
