 | | | Boulevard of Broken Dreams: Encyclopedia II - Selling out - MusicThe phrase is often heard in the musical community, where it is used to imply that an artist has compromised their artistic integrity in order to gain radio airplay or obtain a recording contract, especially with a major label, the classic example of this being when Chumbawumba signed to EMI after years of viciously attacking the organisation. Often, the label will force the style of a particular record producer on the performer, or insist on inclusion of songs by commercial songwriters; or the label may refuse to release an album, deeming it uncommercial, though this indicates that the artist or group ...

 | | | Boulevard of Broken Dreams: Encyclopedia II - American Idiot song - Song informationThe song was written by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong and was co-produced by Green Day and Rob Cavallo.
"American Idiot" ridicules the American government under George W. Bush. Green Day made no effort to hide their political identity and they are strongly opposed to the American president. | | | Boulevard of Broken Dreams: Encyclopedia II - Since U Been Gone - Song informationThe single was co-written and co-produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke. Although Clarkson had previously had hit singles, her previous few singles had performed poorly in the charts ("Low" and "The Trouble with Love Is"), and with her fellow American Idol participant, Justin Guarini, who had been dropped by the label they shared after similar chart performance, industry critics speculated that Clarkson's career would go the same way. To avert this, Clarkson decided she needed more control over her career and the direction of her music, ...

 | | | Boulevard of Broken Dreams: Encyclopedia II - Since U Been Gone - Music videoThe video for "Since U Been Gone" is relatively simple, and follows the main theme of the song. In the video, Clarkson is seen at an ex-boyfriend's apartment looking though some items. She thinks about the past, but thinks about how much happier she is since he's been gone, and goes on to wreck the apartment. The video is intercut with scenes of Clarkson performing with her band for an energetic crowd. The video ends with Clarkson slyly leaving her ex's apartment, just as he and his new girlfriend ente ...
