Bongo Comics: Encyclopedia II - Gail Simone - Mainstream

Simone entered the comics mainstream with a run on Marvel Comics' Deadpool, which metamorphosed into Agent X. Simone eventually left the series after a conflict with the editor of Agent X. With her absence the series floundered, and so popular was Simone's work on both titles that she was asked back to pen a concluding arc to Agent X, some months after the series' cancellation. Due to the dispute with Marvel, Simone moved on to DC Comics, where she was given the Birds of Prey title. Though still humo ...

Other characters with super-speed powers have been able to duplicate the trick, but it has not been done routinely. Magic and technological devices have done the job as well. Bongo Comics: Encyclopedia II - The Simpsons - Setting characters and plot of The Simpsons

The Simpsons - Characters. The main characters were originally created by Matt Groening as part of a series of original animated segments for The Tracey Ullman Show. Over the course of the series Groening has used many of the themes present in his long-running comic strip series, Life in Hell. (For instance, the idea of creative school children constantly being persecuted and suppressed by totalitarian grown-ups stems from the strip.) Many of the characters in The Simpsons take their names fr ...

Bongo Comics: Encyclopedia II - Futurama - Setting

The setting is first and foremost a backdrop for humor, and the show is not above committing continuity errors if they serve to further the gags. The capabilities of many things vary according to what is most appropriate for the situation at hand. The visually retro-futuristic world of Futurama is not a utopia but neither is it a dystopia. Unlike past cartoons like The Jetsons, which showed an efficient, clean, happy future, Futurama portrays a less idealistic view, with humans still dealing with many of the same ...

Bongo Comics: Encyclopedia II - Bart Simpson - Bartman

Bartman is a comic book title and the alter ego of Bart Simpson. Essentially, in addition to his normal clothes, Bart wears a purple mask and cape to become Bartman. The name, when written, bears a striking resemblance to the name Batman, and Bartman is indeed supposed to be a superhero of some sort. Bartman makes a short appearance in the Simpsons episode "Three Men and a Comic Book." This alter ego is the basis for the short-lived Bongo Comics series (1993-1995), which saw the young Bart adopt the mantle of crimefighti ...
