Taylor was born in Birmingham, England. He was a shy boy who attended Catholic school, wore glasses (due to a severe myopia over -10 dioptres), enjoyed James Bond movies, and played wargames with model soldiers. In his early teen years he discovered music, choosing Roxy Music as his favourite band, and before long was collecting records and teaching himself to play guitar. His first band was called Shock Treatment. Nigel ...

Bond girl: Encyclopedia II - Karl Stromberg - Bio

Stromberg was a successful self-employed businessman as head of his own shipping firm. Stromberg's obsession and passion was the ocean where he lived in his palace, named Atlantis, that could submerge itself underwater so as not to be seen or detected. Located off of Sardinia, Italy, Atlantis had everything to support life above and below water for any length of time. In fact, Atlantis was more like a city, able to support dozens if not hundreds of people. Stromberg also owned a huge tanker, named Liparus, that was his headquarters away from Atlantis. See also:

Bond girl: Encyclopedia II - Tracy Bond - Bio

Born Teresa Draco in 1943, she is the only child of Marc-Ange Draco. Marc-Ange is the head of "The Union Corse", a powerful international mafia crime syndicate -- not quite as large as S.P.E.C.T.R.E., but with substantially larger "legal" operations, including Draco Construction. Teresa goes by "Tracy" because she feels "Teresa" is too grand. (As she once said, "Teresa is a saint; I'm known as Tracy.") Teresa was the only daughter of Marc-Ange Draco and his English-born wife, who had met him while he was hiding out from the authoritie ...

Bond girl: Encyclopedia II - Tanya Roberts - The 1980s

In 1980, Roberts was chosen among other 2000 candidates to replace Shelley Hack in Charlie's Angels in what later turned out to be the last season of the series. In the show, Roberts interpreted her character Julie Rogers as a streetwise fighter who used her fists more than her gun. After this her popularity exploded. She was the cover of People magazine (September 9, 1981) and was offered more ambitious projects, though it could be argued that this was due to he ...

Bond girl: Everything or Nothing: Encyclopedia II - James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing - Overview

Everything or Nothing is the second Bond game played in the third-person and is the first Bond game to feature a two-player cooperative mode, however, unlike its modern predecessors, Everything or Nothing lacks a true deathmatch multiplayer mode, a popular staple in Bond games since 1997's GoldenEye 007. The game received high praise from some quarters, some critics calling it "the Bond movie for 2004" due in part to its high production values. For the first time in any James Bond game, Electronic Arts hired many ...

Bond girl: Encyclopedia II - Honey song - Chart performance

"Honey" was Carey's twelfth number-one single on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Bond girl: Encyclopedia II - Honey song - Music video

The best-known aspect of "Honey" was its video, which changed Carey's public image. Carey had previously been dressed conservatively, as the "girl next door". Starting with "Honey" (directed by Paul Hunter), she was seen in revealing clothing. The video is inspired by James Bond films and shot in Puerto Rico. It starts out with Carey in a revealing black dress, being held prisoner. After escaping her captors via a swimming pool, she takes off her dress in the water to reveal a white bikini, inspired by Bond girl Honey Ryder's famous w ...

The 00 Branch of MI6 is considered the elite of the Secret Service. These are agents who have proven themselves capable enough in the field to be entrusted with the licence to kill -- the authorisation to, at their own discretion, commit assassination and acts that might be otherwise considered murder in order to complete their missions, without having to seek permission from headquarters first. The film The World is Not Enough revealed that the 00 Branch has its own area within MI6 headquarters and its own insignia, though it is not known if this has alwa ...

Bond girl: Encyclopedia II - Bikini - Bikinis in modern culture

It took fifteen years for the bikini to be accepted in the United States. In 1951 bikinis were banned from the Miss World Contest. In 1957, however, Brigitte Bardot's bikini in And God Created Woman created a market for the swimwear in the US, and in 1960, Brian Hyland's pop song "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" inspired a bikini-buying spree. Finally the bikini caught on, and by 1963, the movie Beach Party, starring Annette Funicello (emphatically not in a bikini, by mentor Walt Disney's personal request) and Frankie Avalon, led a wave ...

Bond girl: Encyclopedia II - Bikini - Evolution of the bikini

In recent years, the term monokini has come into use for topless bathing by women: where the bikini has two parts, the monokini is the lower part. Where monokinis are in use, the word bikini may jokingly refer to a two-piece outfit consisting of a monokini and a sun hat. The term was coined by Rudi Gernreich. The tankini is a swimsuit combining a tank top and a bikini bottom. A string bikini is a more revealing alternative style where both top and bottom are r ...
