| | | | Black Magic: Encyclopedia II - Dumbo - StoryThe film takes place in a circus setting, ostensibly in present-day 1941, and begins with a formation of storks delivering newborn offspring to the various circus animals. Mrs. Jumbo's baby is delivered to her belatedly by a mixed-up stork, but the baby is well received by the other elephants until the size of his ears is revealed. The elephant, named Jumbo Jr. by his mother, is immediately renamed "Dumbo" by the gossipy female elephants, who regard both mother and son as outcasts. The two get along fine without them, however, until Mrs. Jum ...

| | | | Black Magic: Encyclopedia II - Superhero - Growth in diversityFrom their birth until the early 1960s, superheroes largely conformed to the model of lead characters in American popular fiction in the first half of the 20th century. Hence, the typical superhero was a white, middle to upper class, heterosexual, professional, young-to-middle-aged man. A majority of superheroes still fit this description but, in subsequent decades, many minority characters have broken the mold.

| | | | | Black Magic: Encyclopedia II - Rakshasa - In Dungeons & DragonsIn the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, the Rakshasa are a type of evil beings from the lawful evil parts of the Outer Planes. They are powerful sorcerers and, although they disdain physical fighting as ignoble, can be dangerous in close combat as well. Two subtypes of Rakshasa, differing from the common Rakshasa exist: Ak'chazar Rakshasa and Naztharune Rakshasa.
Their natural shapes are relatively humanoid although they are clearly not human, as they have the heads of beasts -- usually tigers, but sometimes apes, croc ...

| | | | Black Magic: Dazzling Mystical Lights in MeditationDazzling
Mystical Lights in Meditation
Sometimes, during meditation, you will get very powerful and dazzling
lights, bigger than the sun. They are white in color. In the beginning, they
come and disappear quickly. Later on, they are steady and they become fixed for
ten to fifteen minutes according to the strength and degree of concentration.
For those who concentrate at the Trikuti, the light appears in the forehead;
while for others who concentrate at the Sahasra Chakra, the light manifests
itself at the top of the head. The light is so powerful and dazzling sometimes
that you have to withdraw yourself from looking at it and break the meditation.

| | | | | | | Black Magic: Encyclopedia II - Peanuts - Television film and theatreIn addition to the strip itself and numerous books, the Peanuts characters have appeared in animated form on television many times. This started when the Ford Motor Company licensed the characters in 1961 for a series of black and white commercials for the Ford Falcon. The ads were animated by Bill Melendez for Playhouse Pictures, a cartoon studio that had Ford as a client. Schulz and Melendez became friends, and when producer Lee Mendelson decided to make a two-minute animated sequence for a TV documentary called A Boy Named Charl ...

|  |  |  | Black Magic: Encyclopedia II - Gray Wolf - Taxonomy
Gray Wolf - Classification and relation to the dog.
Much debate has occurred over the relationship between the wolf and the domestic dog. Most authorities see the wolf as the dog's direct ancestor, but others have postulated descent from the Golden Jackal. Because the canids have evolved recently and different canids interbreed readily, untangling the true relationships has presented difficulties. However, molecular systematics now indicate very strongly that domestic dogs and wolves are more closely related than either is to any other canid, and the domestic dog is now normally classified as a subspecies of th ...

Alchemy has been practiced in ancient Egypt, India, and China, in Classical Greece and Rome, in the Islamic Empire, and then in Europe up to the 19th century — in a complex network of schools and philosophical systems spanning at least 2500 years.
The alchemists did not follow what is now known as the scientific method, and much of the "knowledge" they p ...
