Birth: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Birth

Birth

Women who are pregnant and men who are going to be fathers commonly have dreams about giving birth. It is not an omen of anything to come, but simply the mind trying to cope with a significant anxiety-provoking event. If you or your mate are not pregnant, this dream could symbolize new beginnings (i.e. giving birth to new ideas, new ways of living, or a new stage in life). Superstition-based dream interpretations say that giving birth in a dream is a sign of good luck, while multiple births are omens of forthcoming material wealth.

Dream Interpretation Birth

For men and women this dream has slightly different meanings. If a woman dreams about birth: it is a sign of personal growth implying that the process will be painful. It also can mean a new attitude towards life. In a man's dream it usually means a birth of new ideas, tasks, plans. Dreaming of a difficult birth signifies that you need to let go of something you love very much, it also may refer to an illness. In relation to animals, the birth means a new opportunity, or a new phase in your life.

Birth: Encyclopedia II - Childbirth - The normal birth

Childbirth - First stage: contractions. A typical human childbirth will begin with the onset of contractions of the uterus. The frequency and duration of these contractions varies with the individual. The onset of labour may be sudden or gradual. A gradual onset with slow cervical change towards 3 cm (just over 1 inch) dilation is referred to as the "latent phase". A woman is said to be in "active labour" when contractions have become regular in frequency (3-4 in 10 minutes) and about 60 seconds in duration. The ...

Birth: Birth and Death are Only Constructs in the Mind

They say that Life is only Existence visible. That birth and death are only constructs in the mind, two points in time, taken to be Reality by one ignorant of the true nature of the Self, the entity which expresses itself as Existence itself, the pure Consciousness.

"There is no such thing as death, it is only the body that dies. Can anyone ever say 'I am dead'? Who knows 'I am'?"

This knowledge-principle is the all-pervasive, it is ever-existent. It is the false identification with the body that is the cause of grief and sorrow.

Birth: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Bridge

Bridge Dream Symbols:

A transition. Are there changes occuring in your life? This could be physical, psychological or spritual. Dreaming of a bridge collapse indicates that you have let a great opportunity pass you by. May symbolize birth, a transition from one phase in your life to another. Freud saw the bridge as a symbol of the sexual organ.

Birth: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Bridge

Bridge

(1) A bridge may symbolize any sort of transition in the dreamer's life. Freud gives the example of a woman who wants to be a man, and consequently dreams of bridges that don't quite reach the other side of the river. However, the symbolized change may be something that can be achieved more easily, but still possibly requiring will and determination; for example, a change of lifestyle, or passing from middle years into old age.

(2) The bridge is a means of crossing a river, and even crossing from one country to another - foreign, new, strange - country. It may therefore symbolize a critical juncture in your life: for example, about whether you are going to be able to go through with a change from living on your own to living with a partner (or the reverse); from one job to another; from one set of values to another.

(3) It may represent the male sexual organ, which "bridges the gap" between male and female sexual partners.

(4) It may also symbolize birth - that is, the crossing from 'the other world" to this, or from womb to an independent existence.

Birth: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Sun

Sun - Moon

Sun

(1) The sun may be a symbol of the self (i.e. your true and total self), or of the conscious ego.

(2) It may symbolize intelligence, as distinct from intuition.

Moon

From prehistoric times the moon has been regarded as the source of all fertility. It governs ocean tides and rainfall, menstruation and birth. (Even when seen as male, the moon has been associated with fertility: for example, in Australian aboriginal tradition, the moon makes women pregnant.) It therefore symbolizes (the possibility of) personal growth.

Birth: Dreams Interpretation Dictionary - Tunnel

Tunnel

Seeing a tunnel in your dream, represents the vagina, womb, and birth. Thus it may refer to a need for security and nurturance. Dreaming that you are going through a tunnel, suggests that you are exploring aspects of your unconscious. You are opening yourself to a brand new awareness. Alternatively, it indicates your limited perspective. Seeing the light at the end of a tunnel, symbolizes hope.

Birth: The Link Of Love

Two years ago, something extraordinary happened to me that completely changed my perception of life. I was falling asleep just like any other night, but when I was in that altered state of consciousness between awake and asleep, there appeared before my closed eyes the close-up image of a little boy's face. He seemed to be about three years old, and he looked very much as I did when I was a toddler. At first he was looking down, as if he was shy. Then he slowly lifted his eyes, looked directly at me, and smiled. In his sweet toddler voice he said, "Mommy, I'm coming."
