 | | | Bhaga: Accept God
as SupremeAccept God as Supreme
The Bhagavad Gita says: Bhagavan
uvaca - "the Supreme Lord said...,'' indicating that it is the Supreme Lord
Himself who is speaking.
Krishna is referred to as Bhagavan in the Gita. Bhaga
means opulence, and van means one who possesses. God or Bhagavan is described
as one who possesses all opulence, knowledge, wealth, power, beauty, fame and
renunciation. There are many rich, wise, famous, beautiful or powerful men, but
no one man can claim to possess all of these opulences. Only Krishna claims to
possess them in totality.

Bhakti Yoga Dictionary on Bhagavan
Bhagavan - the Supreme Lord; the Personality of Godhead. In the Visnu Purana (6.5.72-74) Bhagavan is defined as follows: "suddhe mahavibhuty akhye pare brahmani varttate maitreya bhagavac-chabda sarva-karana-karane; sambharteti tatha bhartta bha-karo ‘rthadvayanvita neta gamayita srasta ga-kararthas tatha mune; aisvaryasya samagrasya dharmasya yasasah sriyah jnana-vairagyayos caiva sannam bhaga itingana - " The word bhagavat is used to describe the Supreme brahma who possesses all opulences, who is completely pure, and who is the cause of all causes. In the word bhagavat, the syllable bha has two meanings: one who maintains all living entities and one who is the support of all living entities. Similarly, the syllable ga has two meanings: the creator, and one who causes all living entities to obtain the results of karma and jnana. Complete opulence, religiosity, fame, beauty, knowledge, and renunciation are known as bhaga, or fortune.” (The suffix vat means possessing. Thus one who possesses these six fortunes is known as Bhagavan.)

 | | | Bhaga: Marriages
in HinduismHinduism and Marriage
According
to Hinduism, a marriage between two persons is a sacred relationship that is
not limited to this life alone. It extends across seven or more lives, during
which the couple help each other progress spiritually. The adage that marriages
are made in heaven is very much true in case of Hinduism. Two souls come
together and marry because their karmas are intertwined and they have to
resolve many things together upon earth in order to ensure their mutual
salvation.

Hinduism Dictionary on Bhagavata
Bhagavata: n (Sanskrit) "Relating to God or a God holy; sacred, divine." Pertaining to Vishnu or Krishna. From bhaga, "Gracious lord; patron; good fortune." The name of a sect of Vaishnavism which arose in the Western part of India after 600 bce. A highly devotional monotheistic faith worshiping God as Krishna, Vasudeva or Vasudeva- Krishna. It is believed by scholars to have been one of five religions (along with the Ekantika, Narayaniya, Vaikhanasa and Satvata) that blended to form what was called the Pancharatra religion in the vicinity of Mathura around 300 bce. Today, the term Bhagavata is often used to refer to the Vaishnavite religion as a whole. See: Pancharatra,Vaishnavism.
