 | | | Beginning: Encyclopedia II - Cinema of Greece - BeginningIn the spring of 1897, the Greeks of Athens had the opportunity and privilege to watch the first cinematic attempts (short movies in 'journal'). The projection of an animated movie resulted in excited reactions and the new-seen spectacle became a usual matter of discussion. 1906 was the birth year of the Greek Cinema when brothers John and Miltiades Manakia started recording in Macedonia, and the French filmmaker Leons, produced the first 'Newscast' from the midi-Olympic games of ...

 | | | Beginning: Encyclopedia II - Burke and Wills expedition - BeginningNeither Burke nor Wills was experienced in exploration, and it is strange that they were chosen to lead the mission. Burke was an Irish-born ex-officer with the Austrian army, and later became police superintendent with virtually no skills in bushcraft. Wills was a surveyor and meteorologist. Wills was more adept than Burke at living in the wilderness, but it was Burke's leadership that was especially detrimental to the mission.
The expedition set off from Royal Park, Melbourne at about 4pm on August 21, 1860 watched by 15,000 spectat ...

The country had suffered a series of natural disasters, economic problems and defeats at the hands of the Western powers, problems that the ruling Qing dynasty did little to lessen. | | | Beginning: Encyclopedia II - Battle of Sekigahara - BeginningThe death of Maeda Toshiie meant that there was no one to rival Tokugawa Ieyasu anymore, in terms of seniority, rank, and overall influence within the Toyotomi clan. Thus, many were worried that Tokugawa would take over Toyotomi's legacy just as Toyotomi had with Oda Nobunaga's. This worry was especially evident amongst the loyalist bureaucrats, who suspected Tokugawa of agitating unrest amongst Toyotomi's former vassals.
Later, a supposed conspiracy to assassinate Tokugawa Ieyasu surfaced, and many Toyotomi loyalists, including Maeda Toshiie's son, Toshinaga, were accused of takin ...

 | | | Beginning: Encyclopedia II - Junimea - BeginningIn 1863, four years after the union of Moldavia and Wallachia and after the moving of the capital to Bucharest, five enthusiast young people who just returned from their studies abroad created in Iaşi a society which wanted both to stimulate the cultural life in the city. They gave the name "Junimea", which in Romanian literally means "Youth".
It is notable that four of the founders were part of the Romanian elite, the boyar class (Theodor Rosetti was the brother-in-law of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Petre P. Carp and Vasile Pogor were sons ...

 | | | Beginning: Encyclopedia II - Spice Girls - BeginningThe group was formed in 1994 when Bob Herbert and his son, Chris, advertised through The Stage newspaper. The five girls chosen were Geri Halliwell, Victoria Adams, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, and Michelle Stephenson, forming a group called "Touch". Stephenson soon left the group to pursue her education and was soon replaced by Emma Bunton.
The five girls were placed in a house together so that (it was hoped) they could become friends going on to commercial success. However, things became tough when arguments broke out. Th ...

 | | | Beginning: Jewish Beginning - Rosh Hashanah
Many important events are believed to have happened on Rosh Hashanah. The six days of creation were completed; Abraham and Jacob were born; Sarah, Rachel and Hannah - after years of wanting and praying for children - conceived Isaac, Joseph and Samuel, and Joseph was freed from prison. Rosh Hashanah is also called Yom Ha-Din, the Day of Judgment. It is the day people are judged by God, and their fate for the coming year is also decided. The idea of the Day of Judgment produced a special liturgy and special customs.

 | | | Beginning: The Process of Meditation
We begin the process of Meditation as propogated by Swami Vishvas Ji. Meditation is the natural, simplest and original form of meditation, very secular in nature. It is the most easy form, beyond all self efforts- a direct approach to the mind. We all have been blessed with the third eye or the Shiv Netra to look within directly. On closing the outer eyes, 80 percent of your energy is accumulated within, your awareness turns inwards and the inner eye starts looking within, automatically.

 | | | Beginning: Sound sleep through meditation
You can meditate at bedtime lying down, making it more comfortable than sitting meditation, especially for those who are not in the best physical shape. Simply close your eyes and watch your mind. If thoughts arise, let them go. Don't let them engage you. Don't judge them. Don't identify with them. Just be a non doer and watch your mind.

 | | | Beginning: Meditation for beginners
According to Swami Kriyananda, Paramhansa Yogananda often urged his students to be steadfast in meditation: "Practice night and day. It is the greatest key to salvation. Meditation is the most effective way of destroying temptation. Once you can feel the inner joy it gives you, no evil will be able to touch you." The following tips will help beginning meditators to acquire a taste for the joys of which Yogananda spoke:

 | | | Beginning: Meditation - Frees you of the mind
In order to understand the approach and significance of Meditation, one must first understand what health signifies. Complete health is a symphony of both physical and mental well being. Considering physical health alone as one's sole purpose is the highest form of ignorance, for it is very temporary. At the first instance of any adverse situation, if you are not mentally strong to face it, you will readily fall prey to stress that comes along with it and then, even all the physical health gained, will be lost.

 | | | Beginning: Meditation on the Guru
Call to your guru in meditation. At the start of your meditation, ask one of these great souls to help you in your meditative efforts. After your practice of the techniques, ask him to help you go deep in the Spirit, or to give you a clear perception of truth, or a solution to some spiritual problem. Above all, pray to him, "Introduce me to God." Draw from him, by the magnetic power of your devotion, the power to become like him - an awakened child of the Infinite.
