Beau Starr: Encyclopedia II - Bizarre TV series - Super Dave Osborne

A regular feature of the show was Super Dave Osborne, played by Bob Einstein, in which Super Dave would perform elaborate mock stunts meant to enthrall viewers; a reporter would assist in framing the sketch. Inevitably, the stunt would fail spectacularly, resulting in severe, hilarious injury to Super Dave. These sketches would usually finish with a view of the scene, in which Super Dave was buried, encased, launched etc., as appropriate for the sketch. Meanwhile, feigning agony, Super Dave would discuss sundry details: informa ...

Beau Starr: Encyclopedia - Against the Ropes

Against the Ropes is a 2004 drama movie. It was directed by Charles S. Dutton, in his motion-picture directorial debut. It is a fictionalized account of the American boxing manager Jackie Kallen, who was the first woman to become a success in the sport. The events in the film are not an accurate representation of Kallen's career, however. For example, Kallen was married and had two children while working in the boxing profession, but in ...

Beau Starr: Encyclopedia II - Due South - History

Due South originally aired on CBS in the United States and CTV in Canada, as a made-for-television movie. The series ran from 1994 to 1996, when it was cancelled by CBS. After a one year hiatus, CTV revived the series in 1997 with international investment, and it ran for two seasons until 1999. The post-1997 episodes have been referred to by a few websites as a new series spun off from the original series, but were in fact titled as Season Three and Season Four of the original series. Those episodes were also packaged as a single "Season 3" ...

Beau Starr: Encyclopedia II - Due South - Filming

Filming was mostly done in Toronto, Ontario, which was used as a stand-in for Chicago. The show falls somewhere between a cop show and a comedy show. Although superficially following the police drama format, the comedy derives from the outrageous plots, the self-mocking Canadian and American stereotypes, and the occasional fantasy elements (such as the regular visits paid to Fraser by the ghost of his dead father), all played ...

Beau Starr: Encyclopedia II - Due South - Story overview

The basic premise of the series is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable named Benton Fraser who, accompanied by his deaf half-wolf, Diefenbaker, goes to Chicago to solve the murder of his father. After the murder is solved, Fraser decides to stay in Chicago, working for the Canadian consulate. As he often states, I first came to Chicago on the trail of the killers of my father and, for reasons which don't need exploring at this juncture, I have remained, attach ...
