Beast Wars - Maximals.
They were based in the spaceship Axalon.
Optimus Primal: Supreme Commander of the Maximals whose beast-form is a silver-back gorilla, without a silver back. Also, the face is more cartoonish, and less oblong. Optimus is a sensitive leader with much concern for his friends and comrades. In addition, he is also imperfect (sometimes making flawed judgements, a trait that sets him apart from other Autobot leaders) and prone to losing his temper under pressure. He uses ...

 | | | Beast Wars - Trivia: Encyclopedia II - Beast Wars - Pilot episode
The two-part pilot episode, entitled "Beast Wars", chronicles the arrival of both the Maximals and Predacons on a mysterious, uncharted planet. The Predacons have stolen a golden disc which was the most valued relic of the planet Cybertron (the home of the Transformers) and supposedly held the location of a rich Energon source, which could make the Predacons invincible. The Predacons flee into outer space with it in their spacecraft, seeking Earth. (Their exact reasons for seeking Earth are explained later.) They are pursued by a Maximal exp ...

In the Point Omega storyline, several events lead up to a tremendous battle against Shokaract, a Predacon fueled by the Dark Essence of Unicron himself. This also serves as an introduction for Apelinq, and the only appearances of Windrazor, Sandstorm, Antagony, and Cataclysm.
In the Primeval Dawn story, Tarantulas comes back from the dead alongside Ravage, Spittor and Razorclaw to complete the mission he set out to do, while the Vok create Primal Prime to stand in his way; Primal Prime teams up with Airazor and Tigatron ...

 | | | Beast Wars - Trivia: Encyclopedia II - Unicron - Marvel comicsMeanwhile, while working on the UK Transformers comic book, creator Simon Furman decided to cannibalise the best elements of the movie and work them into his stories, creating a future universe based on the movie's events. After stories such as "Target 2006" and "Fallen Angel", featuring Galvatron traveling into Earth's past, Furman brought Unicron back by revealing that his head had crashed onto the Planet of Junk, where he had e ...

 | | | Beast Wars - Trivia: Encyclopedia II - Unicron - Transformers Armada Energon & CybertronFor many years the toyline had no Unicron toy, despite a number of prototypes. This changed in 2003 when Unicron was reintroduced in yet another alternate timeline, the Transformers Armada universe, and was finally rendered in toy form. In this universe, it is known that, disguised as Cybertron's moon, Unicron created the race of small robots known as the Mini-Cons, to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war, so that he might feed off the energies released, allowing him to be reborn. When the Mini-Cons found their way to Earth, a ...

 | | | Beast Wars - Trivia: Encyclopedia II - Unicron - Transformers: The MovieMaking his entrance by dramatically consuming Lithone, a planet supporting mechanical life (similar to Cybertron), of which only a single inhabitant survives, Unicron went on to appear before the battered Megatron, demanding that he destroy the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, "...the one thing, the only thing, that can stand in my way." To allow him to perform the task, Unicron "reformatted" him and a half-dozen other severely damaged Decepticons and provided them with a starship. When Galvatron returned with the Matrix, he tried to ope ...

The other herald was Primus, and the brothers set about this task, until they came upon a region of space teeming with pure Energon. Unicron wanted this power for himself, and cut Primus down before he could report it to the Allspark, casting his brother's body into the orbit of a nearby star. ...

Ravaged from the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, Cybertron was almost completely drained of its energy resources. Neither side had enough energy reserves to continue the battle, which led to a stalemate. The Autobots, with their leader Optimus Prime, left their home planet to seek new sources of energy. The Decepticons pursue them and board the Autobot starship (called the Ark in the comic). During the ensuing fight, they cr ...

Zato-1 - Background.
Originally, Zato-1 was just another member of the Assassin's Guild. However, at some point, the Post-War Administration Bureau offered him a "forbidden beast" - a parasitic organism derived from Gear technology. After gaining control of the forbidden beast through a secret ritual that required Zato-1 to forsake his sight, he grew strong and became the leader of the Assassin's Guild. Because of his membership with the guild, he personally knows both of the other assassins in the Guilty Gear cast, former Assassin's Guild member Millia Rage, and Venom.

 | | | Beast Wars - Trivia: Encyclopedia II - Porco Rosso - Marco's TransformationThere are some theories about Marco's transformation into a pig and back to human. One possible explanation is that he became a pig because he was disillusioned with humanity, and in fact he transforms after the air attack in which he loses his comrades.
Miyazaki has pointed out several times in his works (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Howl's Moving Castle) his position about war, describing how it merely brings death and destruction, causing people to become beasts. This metaphorical analogy is present thou ...

O'Bannon's original script was titled Star Beast, and was a revision of an idea O'Bannon had years before, about gremlins getting loose aboard a World War II bomber and wreaking havoc with the crew.
O'Bannon's original script bears many resemblances to the film that was actually produced, yet with significant differences. The spaceship—designed with a low-budget production in mind—was a sma ...

 | | | Beast Wars - Trivia: Encyclopedia II - Beast Wars - Further adventuresBefore the Maximal ship crashed on the planet's surface, it ejected dozens of stasis pods, containing dormant Transformers, into a safe orbit. When the stasis pods come down to the planet's surface, the pod's computer scans the immediate area for animals (searching for a suitable beast form). Eventually, a new Transformer emerges; upon detecting the pods' electronic signals, the Maximals and Predacons each race to rescue (or reprogram) him or her first.
