Astrology

A resource on Astrology

Astrology has been utlized for thousands of years. Astrology works by taking a look at the significant environmental influences operating in a particular place at a given time - as expressed through the horoscope in the symbolic relationships of the heavenly bodies.

Astrology, the science of the stars, can give us insight into all manner of situations, from the personal to the political and from the most intimate to the most mundane. When you take that first breath on this earth, you are breathing in a cosmic portrait of the heavens at that "exact" moment.

Astrology: Encyclopedia II - Gemini - Mythology

Since this constellation is easily viewable as two parallel stick figures [1], considering faint stars visible to the naked eye, it was associated with the myth of Castor and Polydeuces (also known as the Dioscuri). A myth of these twins heavily concerns cattle theft, and may be connected to early views of the Milky Way, as a herd of dairy cows or cattle, by which they are situated. The orientation of the constellation can vary (since they readily form stick figures whether leaning right or left), though the twins are usually viewed a ...

Astrology: The Allure of Tantra

The Allure of Tantra

Perhaps nothing is more exotic, dramatic and sensational in IndiaÕs Yoga traditions than is the practice of Tantra. No other approach to Yoga has gained such a fascination for the modern mind and its seeking of the bizarre, the entertaining and the enigmatic.

Tantra appears to offer both spiritual and worldly success to a superlative degree. It covers not only internal yogic experiences of chakras, lokas and deities, but also has many important healing practices for body and mind. Most notably, it offers special means of heightening sexual pleasure, making money, gaining recognition and defeating oneÕs enemies - with Tantric methods available for achieving all human desires. There is in Tantra something for everyone, especially those who may be put off by ascetic or renunciate approaches to the spiritual life such as seem to dominate most of the rest of the Yoga tradition.

Astrology: The Birth Charts of Indigo Children

AS A HOMEOPATH AND ASTROLOGER I see a lot of Indigo Children that are brought to me, not because they are Indigo, but because of physical or behavioural problems. Since most of the parents I meet have not heard of Indigo Children I will describe the generally accepted principles for identifying Indigos, as well as how to recognize and identify them from their Birth charts.

Astrology: Alternative Health Dictionary on Astrologic medicine

astrologic medicine (astral healing, astrological healing, astromedicine, medical astrology, medicinal astrology): System based on cosmobiology,a science whose principle is that specific mental and physical conditions correspond to the relative positions of celestial bodies. Astrologic medicine involves horoscopic astrology and the zodiacal man doctrine. The principle of horoscopic astrology--also called genethliacal astrology, horoscopy, natal astrology, popular astrology, and sun sign astrology--is that the relationship between the positions of planets and stars and the moment of one's birth determines lifelong personality. According to the zodiacal man doctrine, each of the twelve signs (houses) of the zodiac--constellations named Aries, Taurus, etc.--governs a different part of the human body. Proponents associate these zodiacal signs (sun signs) with bodily parts (e.g., organs) and systems and with predisposition to disease in different bodily parts. Certain planetary configurations can trigger disease in susceptible persons. Some proponents further posit a correlation of (a) sun signs and particular herbs, and (b) sun signs and the twelve cell salts of the Schuessler biochemic system of medicine. Astrologic medicine includes astrodiagnosis (see astrological diagnosis), prognosis, selection and timing of treatments (especially homeopathic remedies), and preventive medicine.

Astrology: Mysticism Magick Dictionary on AZTEC ASTROLOGY

AZTEC ASTROLOGY

Based on the 52-year revolution of the Pleiades, the calendar is divided into four 13-year quarters. A religious year consisted of three concentric cycles: the Tonalpuohualli of 260 days, the solar year of 365 days and the Venus cycle of 584 days. The earth has survived four "Suns" or eons, called Nahul, which destructions were characterized by earth, air, fire and water. (Thus the most recent End of the World coincided with the biblical flood).

The fifth sun, Nahul Ollin or "movement", which we now inhabit, is the aeon of the calendar in question. It was divinely created in 13 Acatl at Teotihuacan and will end in 2011, with the beginning of the sixth Sun. Precisely how the current aeon will collapse is anyone's guess.

Astrology: QUAOAR by sign   A generational indicator   (and a look at the Indigos)

The newly-discovered planet, Quaoar, is an astrological key to identifying and understanding generational influences, particularly the Indigo children for whom Quaoar is a key defining astrological planet.

Like the other outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto), astrological interpretation of Quaoar by zodiac sign will be a generational indicator rather than a personal energy in the natal chart. In so doing, Quaoar begins by providing a fascinating rear-view mirror to look at 20th Century generations.

Astrology: Spiritual Dictionary on Moon

Moon: The Moon is in its sign of rulership in Cancer. The Moon is visible to us because of reflected light from the Sun. Its monthly motion through the heavens and its phases are timers we should all take seriously. Hospital employees tell stories of increased birth rate or emergency room traffic as the Full Moon approaches. Astrologers know that important activities are best begun just after the New Moon.

The Moon in your chart reflects your subconscious mind. Its sign and house describe your emotional bias – the way your express your feelings most easily and directly.

It is interesting to note that the Sun and Moon appear to be exactly the same size in the sky. If this were not so, we could not have total eclipses of the Sun. But what does this mean to the astrologer? It means that the vitality of the Sun is equal in importance to the action of the Moon in your life. The expression of your individuality is equal in importance to the nurturance of your emotional well-being. Conscious awareness is equal to subconscious motivations. Studying your Moon sign can provide clue to your inner life and suggest paths to increased personal satisfaction with life.

In terms of career, the Sun may show what you want to be when you grow up, but the Moon shows the path – the means – to that end. (This relationship happens to be true for all kinds of astrological charts – for events, nations, weather forecasting, etc.) Learning about the sign and house of your Moon will provide answers to many questions you may have about how to take positive action. This is the area of the chart that shows your emotional changeability, and it also reflects your best path to any other kind of change in your life.

Finally, the Moon shows, by its sign and house, how and where you can be comfortable. It suggests the physical surroundings, the material objects and the emotional tone that is pleasant for you. It also shows how you assimilate – food, information, emotional vibrations.

The Sun and Moon together form a team. You will find that be considering them together, you get a fuller, richer sense of who you are and how you can become happier and more successful.

Astrology: Hindu - Hinduism Dictionary on Nakshatra

nakshatra: (Sanskrit) "Star cluster."

Central to astrological determinations, the nakshatras are 27 starclusters, constellations, which lie along the ecliptic, or path of the sun. An individual's nakshatra, or birth star, is the constellation the moon was aligned with at the time of birth.

Astrology: Encyclopedia II - Zodiac - Astronomy

In astronomy, the zodiac is the region of the sky close to the circle on which the orbital plane of our solar system intersects the celestial sphere. It includes the apparent path of the sun across the sky, known as the ecliptic, and the apparent paths of the naked eye planets which move in a zone just above and below this. It is a useful region of the sky to define, because it has practical implications for observations from the earth's surface. A bright object lying outside of the zodiacal region cannot be a planet. Polar observatories cannot easily observe the planets, because the ...

Astrology: Multiple Timelines

Kiara Windrider is a therapist, poet, astrologer, healer, explorer of mystic and shamanic paths and the author of the award-winning book Doorway to Eternity: A Guide to Planetary Ascension.

A new year dawns silent and unannounced in the early morning drizzle. The calendar spells 2002. What will this year bring? It is a year of paradox, the drizzle informs me – the best of times, and the worst of times. It is a year of planetary initiation, of unprecedented events that will change our lives forever. We will shed an old skin, open our sleeping eyes to a new light, and clear away some of the veils that cling so heavily, and yet so comfortably, to our collective soul. It’s a year like never before, and I notice that I enter through its gates with equal measures of trepidation and excitement. My personality carries some trepidation; my soul carries a great excitement. A poem, written long ago, comes to mind: Faint streaks of dawn.
