In 390 BC, the Gauls moved in the direction of Rome, the capital of the Roman Republic. According to Roman folklore, a Roman named Caedicius kept hearing a disembodied nocturnal voice at the base of the Palatine hill in the Forum Romanum. The voice warned Caedicius of the oncoming attack and recommended that the walls of Rome be fortified. In Roman mythology, Concordia was the goddess of agreement, understanding, and marital harmony. Her oldest temple was on the Forum Romanum. It was built in 367 BC by Marcus Furius Camillus. The Roman Senate often met there.
In art, Concordia was depicted sitting, wearing a long cloak and holding onto a patera (sacrificial bowl) and a cornucopia. Sometimes, she is shown standing between two members of the Royal House shaking hands.
