Most of the sex advice books written
during 1960s underlined the idea that the world could be saved by sex -
without, of course, enduring the messy and inconvenient complications of an
unwanted pregnancy. Many therapists of that era encouraged their neurotic and
mentally disturbed patients to 'find themselves' and become better balanced
individuals through positive experiences of sex. Sometimes, surrogate partners
would be provided for the purpose. We liked to believe then that much mental
illness as well, resulted from long-held repressions, and that these could be
released through sex.

| | | | | | | | Afraid Dictionary: Learning To Take A Back Seat
Some people are compulsive exhibitionists. You can find them almost anywhere; they would do anything to get noticed. At a wedding, they want to be the bride and at a funeral, the corpse. Julius Caesar, who was an incorrigible egotist, was kidnapped when he was a child. He was held for a ransom of 11,000 gold pieces. Horrified, he exhorted his captors to raise the ransom amount to 2,50,000 gold pieces so as to preserve his prestige!

| | | | Afraid Dictionary: The Matrix Myth and the Price of Freedom
reedom is tough shit. That's the central message of the Matrix movies. The inhabitants of the computer-simulated world of the Matrix live in comfortable, salubrious surroundings and appear secure and content with their lives. The rebels who inhabit the real world live in Zion, an underground citadel that looks like Dante's Inferno. They undergo physical and mental pain and are always prey to fears and doubts. Despite this, they feel immeasurably better off than those in the Matrix. Because Zion is freedom, and the Matrix is enslavement. And if the price of freedom is anguish, too bad. For everyone who's free knows that freedom is tough. Too tough for most, according to Dostoyevsky's Grand Inquisitor.

| | | | Afraid Dictionary: True Friends are God's Angels
In the alienated and fragmented world we live in today, the human heart cries out for friendship or affirmation from others. That is because we are meant to see in the human faces we encounter, the face of God. Tell someone that I am here, is the cry of the human heart. Fernando Silva, who runs a children's hospital in Managua, reports the incident of a lonely child in the hospital in search of a human hand to grasp. One Christmas eve, when he stayed in working late into the night amidst revelry, he heard footfalls behind him. On turning, he recognised the sick child who had no one in the world. Fernando drew close to the child and touched him lightly with his hand. The child whispered: "Please tell someone that I am here".

KaliyaKrishna and Kaliya: Good fights
Evil - Krishna and Kaliya
It is a universal law: If we have
ego, we will suffer. If we are arrogant, again, we will suffer till we are
forced to surrender. The subduing of Kaliya the serpent by Krishna illustrates
this.
The tenth canto of the Srimad Bhagvatam recounts the
Kaliya daman lila performed by Krishna. Kaliya was a venomous serpent that
lived in the Yamuna river. One summer Krishna's cowherd friends fainted and
died when they drank water from the Yamuna. Kaliya had contaminated the river
so much that vapour from the river was lethal enough to kill birds flying
across.

| | | | Afraid Dictionary: Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening
In my own spiritual transition to the Awakened state, I suffered and endured many of these changes. Annarita has thoroughly documented many of the symptoms and changes inherent in both the Awakening and the transition into the Octarine stage of Indigo life. Your mileage may vary. And if you find yourself really feeling out of whack, go see your doctor. It is better that you find you're basically OK than to permit a possible major disease like diabetes or heart disease to develop under your nose. As always, common sense, good grounding and a good sense of humor are your best tools for coping. See you on the Other Side!

| | | | Afraid Dictionary: Take Responsibility For Your Actions
One of the most difficult and painful things to do in life is to admit one's mistakes. When Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon the first words he meant to say and which he had practised several times were: "That's a small step for a man, but a giant leap for mankind". What he actually uttered was a contradiction: "That's a small step for man but a giant leap for mankind". But no one has acknowledged this error so far. Most of us hesitate to confess our mistakes. We are equally reluctant to express regret, and it is a rare person who tries to make amends or even simply render a heartfelt apology.

| | | | Afraid Dictionary: Channel Destructive
The recent killings in the land of the Mahatma, the apostle of peace and non- violence, raises a very serious question. Is human consciousness being governed by the tenets of a few religious texts or is it capable of transcending all barriers for the sake of universal brotherhood? Christians have killed Jews. Jews and Muslims are fighting all the time. Hindus have a long history of wars going back to the time of the Mahabharata. Despite the advancement of science, people continue to fight on national, religious or racial criteria.

in DepthTantra
Tantra is
the state of feeling that there is no other person that is not ourselves.
Tantra is the balance of the vibrant yin-yang energy. When we fully feel these
complementary energies balanced within us, we feel like a whole and complete
person-without the compulsory idea that we need another person to make us feel
complete.

| | | | Afraid Dictionary: Forgiveness Is A VirtueJains feel that the values like love, joy and peace can be achieved only through caring for others, understanding the pain of others and reaching out to other human beings. Anger, confusion, egoism and intolerance cause harm to one's self and to the 'other'. But the negative energies suffocate, choke, distress and disturb. Love should not be in the form of words alone. It should reach out to people who need peace, mercy, joy, comfort, sympathy, food, clothing and medicines. This is love in its active, not passive manifestation, but true love is forgiveness for self sake. Read more here: » Jainism: Forgiveness Is A Virtue |

| | | | Afraid Dictionary: The Process of Meditation
We begin the process of Meditation as propogated by Swami Vishvas Ji. Meditation is the natural, simplest and original form of meditation, very secular in nature. It is the most easy form, beyond all self efforts- a direct approach to the mind. We all have been blessed with the third eye or the Shiv Netra to look within directly. On closing the outer eyes, 80 percent of your energy is accumulated within, your awareness turns inwards and the inner eye starts looking within, automatically.
