Sex And Death - Death and the entry into the Abyss of Non-Being is the equivalent of the sexual act. As the orgasm is the ultimate affirmation of the body, so the death spasm is the ultimate denial of the body. On the common level we move in and out of Death and Life, in and out of the Void, from Manifestation to reincarnated Manifestation, endlessly. The Samsaric wheel of birth and death is the endless cosmic act of coitus until the final "orgasm" resulting in the bliss of Nirvana.
777 Reincarnation. We live 700 lives as an animal, 70 lives as a human being learning to overcome the Kama-Manasic levels and, finally, 7 incarnations as an Initiate.
Sunyata - Emptiness or void. Though this sounds negative, sunyata is actually positive, it is an affirmation. Emptiness is not void. Emptiness is not empty. Empty without emptiness.
Neti Neti - (Sanskrit) "Not this, not that."
An Upanishadic formula connoting, through negation, the undefinable and inconceivable nature of the Absolute. It is an affirmation which the meditating yogi applies to each thought and phase of the mind as he penetrates deeper and deeper in his quest for Truth. Ultimately he transcends all "thisness" to realize That which is beyond the mind. See: kundalini, samadhi, raja yoga.
Death Of The Righteous - (Mors Justi.) Death in union with orgasm - since the orgasm is the affirmation of the body and death is the rejection of the body, exact simultaneity is difficult. One will generally precede the other.
Affirmations - AFFIRMATIONS: 1) a belief that repetitive "Positive Assertive Thoughts" will influence people & reality. 2) Also known as "Power of Positive Thinking."
Om - Om or Aum (Sanskrit). A mystic syllable, the most solemn of all words in India. It is "an invocation, a benediction, an affirmation and a promise and it is so sacred, as to be indeed the word at low breath of occult, primitive masonry. No one must be near when the syllable is pronounced for a purpose.
This word is usually placed at the beginning of sacred Scriptures, and is prefixed to prayers. It is a compound of three letters a,u,m, which, in the popular belief, are typical of the three Vedas, also of three gods - A (Agni) V (Varuna) and M (Maruts) or Fire, Water and Air. In esoteric philosophy these are the three sacred fires, or the "triple fire"in the Universe and Man, besides many other things. Occultly, this "triple fire" represents the highest Tetraktys also, as it is typified by the Agni named Abhimanin and his transformation into his three sons, Pavana, Pavamana and Suchi, "who drinks up water", i.e., destroys material desires. This monosyllable is called Udgitta, and is sacred with both Brahmins and Buddhists.
Conservation Of Energy - Conservation of Energy A scientific theory that the total energy of any material system is a quantity which cannot be increased or decreased by any action among the parts, and that when energy seems to disappear it is merely transformed into an equivalent quantity of another mode of energy.
The theory, interpreted in its widest sense, means no more than an affirmation that something cannot be created out of nothing or resolved into nothing, and so would seem a perfectly harmless generalization. However, theosophy teaches that there is a constant inflow of force into any such physical or material system, which in the scientific view is from sources exterior to a "closed material system."
Theosophy does not regard such forces as exterior but looks upon closed material systems as merely phenomena on the physical plane of inner and powerful forces which produce such physical systems as an appearance -- real enough for the entities within it while it lasts, but vanishing once the inner, controlling forces are withdrawn. Then the atoms simply vanish because the cohering energies which make them are likewise withdrawn.
From these considerations it is readily seen why the Masters or mahatmas in Blavatsky''s time stated that the scientific theory of the conservation of energy was wrong in concept and therefore untrue in fact, although workable enough as a mere hypothesis for laboratory studies and the then closely restricted scientific theorizing of the day.
Correlation of forces, used by Sir William Grove (1842), is equivalent to the conservation of energy. It states that physical energies, such as light, heat, and mechanical energy, are convertible one into another, in equivalent quantities.
Path - Marga or pantha. A trail, road or way. In Hinduism there are various ways that the term path is used. path of enlightenment salvation moksha: The way to the ultimate goals of Self Realization and liberation. universal path: The spiritual path conceived as being followed by all of existence, marching on its way to Godhood. path of dharma: Following principles of good conduct and virtue. the two paths: The way of the monk and that of the householder, a choice to be made by each Hindu young man. Peerless highest path: The spiritual path (or the path of renunciation) as the noblest of human undertakings. the straight path: The way that goes directly to the goal, without distraction or karmic detour. on the path: someone who is seriously studying, striving and performing sadhana to perfect the inner and outer nature. our right path in life: The best way for us personally to proceed; personal dharma, svadharma. - "Truth is one, paths are many: " Hinduism''s affirmation for tolerance. It accepts that there are various ways to proceed toward the ultimate goal. See: dharma, pada.
